The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the UL Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2017 and 2019, TU’s Vice President and Director of Athletics Derrick Gragg has announced.

The series will kick off at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa on Sept. 9, 2017. UL Lafayette will host the final game at Cajun Field on Sept. 28, 2019.

Tulsa and UL Lafayette have met nine times in a series that dates back to 1977. The Golden Hurricane trail 5-4 overall, but have taken the last two matchups.

Tulsa has now tentatively completed their 2017 non-conference schedule with the addition of the Ragin’ Cajuns. TU is scheduled to open at Oklahoma State on Sept. 2, travel to Toledo on Sept. 16, and host New Mexico on Sept. 23.

In 2019, Tulsa is slated to travel to San Jose State. That game is the second in a home-and-home series that begins in Tulsa in 2016.

The Golden Hurricane is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for UL Lafayette for both the 2017 and 2019 seasons.
The Texas A&M Aggies have added the UL Lafayette Ragin Cajuns to their 2017 football schedule, the school announced in a release today.

Texas A&M will host UL Lafayette at Kyle Field in College Station on Sept. 16, 2017. It will be the seventh overall meeting between the two schools.

The Aggies have won five of the six previous matchups with the Cajuns with the only loss coming in Lafayette in 1996 (29-22). In their last meeting in 2006, Texas A&M crushed UL Lafayette 51-7.

“We open the 2017 season on the road in Pasadena, California, against UCLA (Sept. 2) and look forward to a great non-conference matchup against the University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Sept. 16 here at Kyle Field,” Aggie Director of Athletics Eric Hyman said.

In addition to opening at UCLA and adding UL Lafayette, New Mexico is scheduled to visit College Station on Oct. 11. The Aggies now only need one additional non-conference game to fill out their 2017 slate.

UL Lafayette now has two non-conference games scheduled for the 2017 season. A week prior to playing at Kyle Field, the Cajuns visit Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane.
