James Madison, behind first year coach Mike Houston, won the FCS National Championship this afternoon. The Dukes, which knocked off the most dominant team in D1 football (5 time defending champion North Dakota State) on their home field (first team to ever do so in an FCS playoff game) en route to the championship, were dominant today in a 28-14 victory over Bo Pelini's Youngstown State team.

As an aside, Bo Pelini was the Nebraska coach that won 9 games in each of his 7 seasons, including 4 division playoffs at Nebraska. He was hired by Youngstown State President Jim Tressel. Yes, Jim Tressel is the YSU President. That guy that coached Ohio State to 3 MNC games, winning one. Has Nebraska gotten better since they fired Bo Pelini?

The real story here is James Madison and coach Mike Houston. He took a talented team that hadn't won an FCS playoff game in a while to the title. He transformed a finess team into a very physical team, and won every game save for a road loss in Chapel Hill. Those that think a coaching change sets a team back should take a look at this JMU team. They're much, much better than they were under the coach that got hired away from them.

Congrats to James Madison Nation. The Dukes are Champions. And have a lot of talent and GREAT head coach returning next year. Mike Houston will probably be a P5 coach a year from now, but today the Mighty Dukes can enjoy their glory.

Nice win by James Madison. Knocking off NDSU at their place is no easy feat.

The Sunbelt made overtures to them during realignment as they had expressed interest in moving up to FBS, but they held out for a better offer, guessing C-USA.

My HS teammate Jack Sherwood played QB for the Dukes years ago, Charles Haley was on that team. A good program then, looks like they have a plan that works.

They still want to move up within the next few years. They're thinking either C-USA or the MAC. Sunbelt would make for longer road trips
