"To me, there's the Power Five, there's the Group of Four, if you will, and then there's us -- the Group of One," Houston coach Tom Herman said during the AAC Coaches' Teleconference last Monday. "We're right on the heels -- if not as good, if not better -- than a lot of the teams in the so-called Power Five."
It's hard to argue that statement, especially when one turns a critical eye toward the Atlantic Coast Conference, generally considered the weakest of the Power Five. What does it say about the ACC that its highest-ranked team going into last weekend, No. 9 Florida State, lost to a struggling Georgia Tech team that got blown out numerous times during a five-game losing streak. AAC owns a 10-1 record against the Mountain West, Conference USA, Mid-American and Sun Belt and is 7-11 against the Power Five.
Aresco isn't merely satisfied with having the AAC play in a New Year's Six bowl. The commissioner, who deserves a lot of credit for his stewardship of the league, thinks an undefeated American member considered for the College Football playoff.
AAC to replace ACC in Power 5?

.....and Tulane hasn't brought anything to the table.
Love this quote from CJ in this article...
""If you ask me, we have four undefeated teams," Tulane coach Curtis Johnson said on Saturday following his team's 31-14 loss to Navy. "I call Navy 'undefeated' because if they don't turn the ball over they beat Notre Dame. This is one of those conferences that didn't get the respect it deserves, but it's a phenomenal conference. Great athletes. Great coaching."
Maybe that is how he sees all of our games. If we just do not suck on offense and score more than the other team, then hell, we are undefeated as well... He is spot on to say that he has been able to have the best seat in the house to see great coaching across the field.

It gets interesting if Houston Memphis and Temple retain their coaches by paying up.
Only in Baseball and Women's hoops do we bring anything to the table in the bigger sports.JerseyWave wrote:.....and Tulane hasn't brought anything to the table.
Clemson and FSU both probably would go unbeaten in the AAC but Memphis and Houston would give them trouble.
