What has Scotty C. done since then (when he was going to take on the BC$ powers)? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, . . . except to do things which have brought down his own program. He does not have the will for this fight any longer.

TCU has done what it had to do to raise itself up from where it used to be, which, at the time, was barely ahead of Tulane. Now, with a Rose Bowl championship, it stands poised to really get into the limelight with its soon-to-come Big East membership. I have often referred to the Frogs in a negative way as the Nomads (because they were always changing conferences), but all along it had visionary people in place who knew what had to get done to elevate their athletic program to a higher standard. I salute the Frogs for their accomplishments, and I hope that one day they get a Big East slot in the national championship game.

Meanwhile, Scotty and Tr!cky D!ck just collect their overpaid salaries and do very little to justify their worth at TU.

Both of these two cannot move on from their current positions fast enough to suit me.

Hey, Scotty and Tr!cky D!ck, JUST LEAVE (and do it soon)!
Regards,
"Pete" Madere

Instead of complaining where they were, TCU committed themselves to getting where they wanted to be.

"This financial disparity is a consequence of a highly restrictive system, not one based on free-market principles"--Scott Cowen
Uh, he's kidding, right?

The BCS is the most perfect illustration of free-market principles around.

Why did the BCS schools form it?

Because they could.

The good Dr. Cowen sounds like the Socialist here.

Dr. Cowen, do you want a bigger piece of the pie for your school?

Then emulate TCU administration and do everything you can to put your university's football program in a position to win.

Cowen will NEVER play the BCS game because it would go against what he preaches, even if it means the death of athletics. His ego would not allow him to change his mind. Instead of doing what it takes to compete and become part of the system, we have "dumbed down" athletics. It is becoming apparent that IF you want in, you have to invest and if you do it right, you can get in and then share in the multi-millions of dollars to be had. It takes money to make money. Cowen is trying to get the system changed so he can participate and it is apparent that he is failing. Only way this changes is with a President that understands that universities can earn great recognition not to mention mega-bucks by doing it right.

We chose to "de-emphasize" athletics (tired of that word) so it is almost impossible to schedule and compete with the Fla. States, Ga. Tech's etc. let alone get them to come to your place for a home and home.

Don't know how this gets changed other than Cowen is out and SOMEONE with an understanding of modern day athletics and its great potential to enhance the University is brought on board.

Cowen can come up with a million reasons why we can't do something. That's the loser's dead giveaway.

Putting the BCS completely aside, I wonder if he could flip through his excuse rolodex and come up with a laundry list of reasons why we're at the bottom of CUSA year in and year out?

I don't think so. When he can point the finger and blame somebody else, he's all talk. When the fault lies with him, he's either smoke and mirrors about the issue or silent altogether.

There's nothing worse than not doing anything and making excuses for everything.
