The best article I’ve read on their dismal performance since acquiring AD.

There's one key factor left out of that equation: AD plays in the Western Conference, Charlotte plays in the East. Night and Day.

The problem isn’t AD. The problem is the GM. If the organization didn’t luck into drafting AD, the Pelicans would lose 50+ games every year. The GM has been here for 9 seasons and only two playoffs appearances since Chris Paul was traded.

I'd add Gentry to being a big part of the problem too. They both need to go.

The playoff run last year might have been ghe worst thing to happen to the Pels.
Going to have to deal AD in the off season.

Horrible FA signings since drafting AD has been what's killed the Pelican's. Ajinca and Osik and not trading away Eric Gordon when they had the chance several times are just a few of them.
AD is elite and a top 10 player in the league. I actually like our starting 5 when healthy and with Randle/Mirotic coming off the bench but that is IT. There is no one else to come in and keep things moving when AD or Jrue are off the court. Elfrid getting hurt has really messed the teams chemistry up. Hoping over the next couple weeks, he can get it back and we can trade to get another scorer on the bench.

It might have sped up the process but he was going to be leaving soon enough if they didn’t put a roster around him that could contend.

As everyone else has stated Demps has been awful. Constantly trading away his draft picks in hopes of a quick fix. He finally made a trade that got him an All-NBA type talent and he had some bad fortune with the Achilles tear. Meanwhile Buddy Hield has turned into a nice player.

Hence the point. This gm/coach situation needed to be gutted and the run just gave the absentee/joke ownership reason to continue as the clock on AD sliwly ticked away.
Trading for cousins was another joke despetate move. He was a known cancer on a one year deal. No one but the Pels wanted to touch him. Hell him getting hurt may have saved them from another Asik type joke contract.
The leadership running this team is a joke. By far and away the first candidate to relocate.

Oh and AD is top 5.

I think even if they had brought in a new coach and GM this season, it would have been too late to do enough to keep AD.

They won't be relocating. Tom Benson bought the team because Gayle wanted him to. She's not about to sell it.
