Re: Potential head football coach candidates search

There’s not a single assistant on this staff that is irreplaceable. On D we have many issues. The most glaring is how we still let people get wide open on us. We’re getting better pressure so it’s not that. As for the offensive staff he isn’t bringing in anybody that would change things. That’s his ...

Hope he does too but it would be shocking if he actually did that.

Re: Potential head football coach candidates search

Steve, I equate “close “ o line as three yards and a cloud of Astro turf. I agree with golf. We will never have an overpowering o line But a quick deceptive explosive offense is the only way we can win. This high school offense doesn’t work when we’re not as strong as teams that can recruit gorilla...

Re: AD FUNDRAISING

It's easy to see the difference between raising money for the academic side at Tulane versus the athletic side. It's also easy to see that the athletic donors were bled dry to have a monument built to SC/RD. What did RD do in his first three years? He didn't raise any money until, if one wants to gi...

Re: AD FUNDRAISING

All RD did was travel and at the end of it the money had to come from board members. And again RD was here 18 years. Dannen is on the job less than three so there's no way to compare fundraising abilities at this point. It really can't come as a surprise to anyone who has followed Tulane closely tha...

Re: AD FUNDRAISING

Dickson had failures but fund raising was not one of them. He saved athletics in 2003 and raised $100 million in two years to build Yulman. Not sure what Dannen has done outside of bringing back a 1960’s Angry Wave character. All his coaching hires have been losers. His seat license idea shows his ...

Re: AD FUNDRAISING

Dick didn't fund raise, Cowen just sold off board seats to get a few big donors to commit. The big time donors have dried out and the programs have not won, so TD can't make anything happen. Can;t say it helps coming from UNI either. Yes and no. It’s very common for large donors be to given a seat....

Re: While I am ranting

The Superdome has no interest in bringing us in for a game against a big team. We bring nothing to the table from an attendance, visitor, hotel occupancy point of view. Why play Tulane vs Florida St in the Dome when you can play LSU vs Florida St in the Dome or Texas A&M vs Oklahoma or Texas vs...

Re: While I am ranting

So I was under the impression the The Benson Family owned the proceeds from parking and concessions at the dome. That was a lie by the yoggies who wanted a stadium. There are different ways to rent the Dome. Tulane chose the low rent deal over one where they could get revenues form parking, concess...

I doubt Fritz makes a change. Also, Fritz has said several times that he likes to only hire people that he's very familiar with. So I don't see some young up and coming OC in our near future.

Re: Wave Beats The Wave,Cincinnati wins 37-21

There's a reason they say stats are for losers. I believe the actual numbers when we run for 250 or more is 7-1. Those wins are against the really weak teams on the schedule. In all those other games we didn't abandon the running game. We just can't run when we play a team that has a decent defense ...

Re: Wave Beats The Wave,Cincinnati wins 37-21

Under WF here's who we beat:

2016- Southern, ULL, UMass(some genius here thinks they should be in the conference),and UCONN.
2017- Grambling, Army, Tulsa, ECU and Houston
2018-Nicholls and Memphis

So two of those are respectable wins. In those two we were balanced. But just keep running it.

Re: Wave Beats The Wave,Cincinnati wins 37-21

Very disappointed in this coaching staff and team. THEY let 3 very winnable game get out of hand and basically destroyed this season at this point. Wake and UAB we were tied in the late in the second half. Neither team was decidedly worse or better than Tulane. We lost. Calling those two as out of ...

Re: Potential head football coach candidates search

Shades of 1978 and Larry Smith. Six games into season three, he was 2-4, coming off of a 2-9 and 3-8 seasons, and we were hearing the exact same things. The faculty was pushing to drop football completely. He finished the season 4-7, for a three year record of 9-24. And then 1979 happened. We NEED ...

Re: Wave Beats The Wave,Cincinnati wins 37-21

It never fails, we get a big win then follow it up with losing.-it's like the coaching staff refuses to stick with what got the victory the previous week..I'm hoping we're not witnessing Bob Toledo 2.0.I pray that during bye week they decide who the starter is and work on throwing a few screens to ...
