We were 21-37 from 2 point range (57%), and 4-24 from 3pt range (17%).
Most of the twos were in the paint, not even mid-range. If we just kept going inside instead of settling for three's, we'd have won this game.

Re: Welcome Aboard Willie Fritz!!!
That's one thing I sure hope TD plans on changing. I hope he reaches out to our former players, because they're the names that would connect with the people that were once fans but have drifted away. Back when I was in school, people talked about the Warren Bankstons, Steve Foleys and Bobby Duhons. ...

And the free throws again. At one point, we were up 50-44, got to the line on 3 straight possessions, and went only 1-6. That was out chance to really blow the game open, and we couldn't.

Re: MSU Game Thread
Unbelievable. They outscore MSU 20-5 in the first 9 minutes of the second half, then get outscored 21-2 in the next 9 minutes.
At one point we had 36 of 49 points in the paint, then we got away from getting the ball inside and started settling for jumpers.

Re: Tulane has a coach!
I'm been doing some digging, and I did come up with this retweet by Jim Barnes. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing he'd have seen unless he was following something specific. This was dated Dec 2. Take it for what its worth. Only hashtag in there is #Tulane. Jim Barnes Retweeted Gentilly_Wave @Gent...

And on the other side of the court, you saw how a team plays. 30 assists on 36 baskets for UNC.

Hot Rod & Co. gave defending champs MJ, Big Sam all they could handle in 3OT loss at their place in 1982. I had that game recorded on cassette for unknown reasons...MJ sent the game to OT when Ralph Davis's inbounds pass fell to the floor after two Greenies collided at mid court. Jordan grabbed...

To play devil's advocate here for just a second... Dannen, Fritz, Burke, VB coach Barnes: it seems like we're putting together a really strong group in athletics. It seems like this is a group of world beaters. Are they really, or are we just so used to mediocrity and failure that 'NORMAL' seems so...

The simple fact of the matter is, we're bringing in kids that either aren't equipped with the skills needed to pass classes, regardless of whether the class is geology or calculus, or they're not willing to do the work. And that's of no benefit to them or us. Be realistic, some people just aren't cu...

That's why I specifically made an exception for that game due to the weather conditions. I was talking in general. But I agree with your point, the focus is much more on speed and agility than brute strength today.

When I see film from back in the 60's and 70's the players don't seem to be nearly as athletic as they are today. I realize this game was in the rain, but I'm talking overall. Is it just me?

If Fritz likes what he sees in Abraham, he'll build an offense around him. If not, and he realizes Abraham wont stick, he's got to find guys that will fit the offense he'd like to run.winwave wrote:I think they are concerned that Abraham is not going to stick w/us.

Its an interesting group among the people he just started following on twitter. 47 total. Some are obvious, like Troy Dannen, Tulane Baseball, TU Athletics and a bunch of our commits, but there's some interesting ones as well. For example: Trevor Knight, QB at Oklahoma Garland Lafrance, ATH, class o...

But he also said (and his track record proves) that he'll do whatever's best for his personnel.
According to Dr. Box, he actually spoke to coach Fritz, so at least that tells us he's already working the commits.

Looks like another explosive offense coming to the AAC.... Frost hit the ground running this past weekend. He said he wanted to play fast, and then he went out and landed a commitment from the fastest player available in Central Florida — Daytona Beach Mainland running back Adrian Killins, a 5-foot-...

Re: Press Conference Tuesday with our new head football coach
It will take us a couple of years to get to all four and five star athletes like LSU A&M and Alabama instead of the two and three stars we now have. Our new coach like Perry Clark in his early years before becoming lazy has a reputation of picking out gems such as Matt Forte types in the lower ...

Just a thought here. Is it possible that our coaches put together a poorly designed playbook? Maybe the reason the players couldn't grasp it was because it wasn't clear. Sort of like when you get an instruction book for something and its obviously just a literal translation from Japanese to English....
