Re: memo to YOGWF
It's getting to be time that something was done about this situation. There are plenty of posters who visit and post on multiple Tulane forums that have access to the YOGWF admins and need to step in and say something. Being banned from there doesn't really matter to anyone individually, but the big...

Re: The Playbook Meeting
On this observation of the age of the "crowd" if one wants to call it that, I have always noted that older alumni have few connections to the school and that athletics is one of the few ways we can still feel part of the university or relate. I would venture a quess that the vast majority...

Re: article today about a football stadium
Tammy Nunez is just awful. I would rather no beat writer at all than her. She is without question the worst we've had in my lifetime. I love this little gem: The Tulane fan base’s demand for an on-campus football stadium is at an all-time high, and Cowen and Dickson know it. Really? Based on what d...

Re: article today about a football stadium
http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/2011/03/for_tulane_green_wave_fans_on-.html I strongly disagree. This really should not be a topic unless the program is already winning consistently and drawing numbers of fans game after game. If the program isn't winning then a new stadium will not help. Reve...

gentleman...you both have made fine and valid points....by the way did Dickson hit the 'happy hour" buffet before the "playbook" presentation...he seemed to rant and ramble a great deal ?!?!? Dickson did manage to make one direct difinitive statement. "We are here to stay. We ar...

Re: I really like Ken Trahan's take on the "Playbook".
It seems to me that Toledo probably keeps his job with 6 wins as it will show "marked improvement" and a "foundation getting even stronger". I don't believe there is a true sense of urgency. In a way this press conference was a bad idea on their part because now we know they are...

Re: The Playbook Meeting
Like I said, increased funding is a good thing but 45% above our 2007 level is not enough or something to call a Press Conference over. They nixed the indoor practice facility which is stupid. They have a goal of studying "Playing venue options" over the next 12 months with a goal of rais...

Yes yes yes.1ndabag wrote:I didn't go to the thing but, based on what I'm reading, the only conclusion to be reached is that the well deserved criticism of the both of them is working and we should step it up big time.
It is working and the heat needs to continue.

No kidding. Hopefully people start getting angry and ready to do something about it before he ruins Tulane for good.

This is interesting
Interesting post over on YOGWF. Someone who had never posted before let loose that he knew from Wilson Center/Gibson Hall that Tulane does not intend to make the investment needed to have successful football/basketball programs. Re: Coach Toledo
As for Rick Dickson, where's Arnie Fielkow when you need him. I know it's alot to ask, but if you have any pride in yourself as an Athletic Director and care at all about Tulane athletics, don't you just resign and then give 20 interviews on TV about how terrible Cowen is and how he's trying to kil...

Re: "This Forum WANTS Cowen and Dickson to Fail"
That's what someone posted on another forum, as an explanation of why he doesn't post here. I guess I'm included in his generalization because I post here. (I post on other forums and try to follow the rules of whatever forum I'm on. I wish there were more Tulane forums--the more, the merrier.) But...

Re: Conferences/BCS/TV Deals and the Lakers
The economics of these deals are game changers. Annual payout for local TV broadcast rights: Portland Trailblazers: $12M Old Lakers deal: $30M New Lakers deal: $150M And we know that the SEC and Big 10 conference channels have been game changers in terms of member conference revenues. But these deal...

Re: Conferences/BCS/TV Deals and the Lakers
BYU..s an Independent can market it's home Football games as it chooses, however when on the road it must abide by the confere,TV rights of the host team if that game is to be Televised but may choose to air the game "taped delayed" on the BYU network...TEXAS must abide by the conference ...

Conferences/BCS/TV Deals and the Lakers
Told ya this was coming. A perfect example of why conferences are going to be irrelevant sooner than anyone thinks. Conferences only exist as middle men to negotiate media deals on behalf of a group of universities. In just the last year, you've seen BYU and Texas go to independent TV deals and now ...

Re: Coach Toledo
We dumbed down the schedule in the mid 90's and it led to a worse program with lower expectations. There is no reason in the world we can't compete with and beat SEC teams. I'm not saying consistently beat the best SEC teams, but we're in the South and we have the same recruiting ground as them. We...

http://www.ncaa.com/history/golf-men/d1 Individual Title Vincent D'Antoni- Tulane of course, Cowen has killed golf(men's) despite offers by alumni to fund it, because it doesnt fit his vision of what Tulane "Should be" under his despotic rule. Thats right, a sport where we hold a NC and C...

Re: "Oliver N. Blue" --- where is he now?
I think it's pretty telling that there are 3 pages on YOGWF of posters basically bashing Dickson over this and the university and JTS is nowhere to be found. It's pretty hard for even the most ardent YES MAN to read that interview and not realize that the administration has surrendered athletically...

Re: An appeal for a Board Member to show courage
Bravo for your post. Just as in 2003, the Board will react accordingly when enough alumni show that they have had it with losers as leaders. Slatton may have got the ball rolling in 2003, but nothing came of it until the alumni responded. It's time for that to happen again because thats the only way...

Re: Email to Rick Dickson
Even in the interview, Dickson says I don’t see that as the right formula or plan for us. Maybe there are those out there who would like it to be , but that would be at the expense of Tulane being Tulane. which means that they've heard all the letters, emails and other complaints. They don't care an...

Re: Athletic director Dickson talks empty Superdome
"Tulane being Tulane. We’re a much better university, and you’d sacrifice a lot of that to invest in one aspect of the school like others have." So, WE are the better school because we do not invest in athletics!. Am I interpreting this correctly? The "other" schools have sacrif...
