Re: Big 12 Expansion

Sorry for the misunderstanding but I stand by my statement of CJ staying. Yes there are big if's involved but the biggest one is if he can win. If the answer to that is yes then we'll be playing in the Dome which is his stated goal. He then stays. As for the Big 12 I was just saying that if CJ does ...

Re: State Of Tulane

Glad you guys are enjoying. This is a great site and hopefully football season gives us a lot to talk about in a very positive light. God knows we deserve it.

State Of Tulane

As for football we are clearly at a critical juncture. We need to win NOW. Hate to put pressure on a staff so early but it's there whether they want it or not. The good news is that they appear to be off to a good start. Most all of us are excited about how he finished last years class and are are e...

Re: Big 12 Expansion

It looks like Notre Dame is moving their Olympic Sports to the Big 12 and will also agree to play 6 Big 12 games per year in football as I previously guessed. FSU, Louisville, and Clemson appear to be other targets, but I think when its all said and done Notre Dame, FSU, Ga.Tech, Louisville, Va.Tec...

Re: New Commit! Reginald Bell Jr.

I have to strongly disagree. First off football recruiting it is always the biggest news. Secondly I know as Tulane fans we can be made cynical but fact is most of the commits stick. Only a couple stray. Then there's the fact that most members of forums are either busy or lazy and only want to go t...

Re: New Commit! Reginald Bell Jr.

This is a critical pick-up. We haven't had a top flight QB in a long time. He looks like he can fill the bill and really be a threat. You have to love the local connection. Steve- love the site but this really belongs on the main forum. It's the lifeblood of the entire athletic program. I really wis...

Re: NOLA Planning Commission Rejects IZD-Topic Updated****

This is absolutely not the time to throw in the towel and give in to the two clowns. It's time to end their show before they end our athletics program. Donors are not giving and this revelation about how small it will be even if expanded will halt donations. So the fight is not over. It's time for o...

Re: Rick Jones' Future

I understand that there have been rule changes. I have posted reasonable ways to deal w/them as long as our current situatuion remains. As I have said most of these issues have been there since RJ became coach. He has always talked about having to negotiate w/families. (As jd said no one pays the $6...

Re: Rick Jones' Future

There are varying forms of aid that are given. A 31 is not the end all of aid opportunities. I agree. But its makes it more difficult and less money when you raise the requirements. Like someone said before you're better off not stating you play baseball because our admin will likely tell you to ge...

Re: Congratulations Greenies

That's almost 35 years ago. The cost of everything in life has gone up significantly since then just as earnings have. We still had our best success after that. There is aid in place and most of the players are getting it. win, we both know that for whatever reason we're not getting it done, we jus...

Re: Rick Jones' Future

BS. The rest of the successful privates are still successful. We are not. One difference, they get the needed help from their admin's. And we do too. As I have said Tulane put such aid in place after the loss of the leg. scholarships . We then had our most success. The point is that fans are drinki...

Re: Rick Jones' Future

Remember UNO pitcher/infielder Kevin Berry a year or so ago. When UNO announced they were dropping down we went after him. In fact he committed. However a day or two later he decommitted and signed with LSU. The main factor was money. He went to LSU free. He'd had to pay to go to Tulane. He pitched...

Re: Congratulations Greenies

We were ahead of the curve on academic aid b/c of the leg. scholarship scandal. The school came through w/academic aid to make up for it. We had our greatest success after the scandal. I got that straight from RJ. Also, many people understand that you get what you pay for. So that cheap or free scho...

Re: Rick Jones' Future

When I was coming out of High School in 2000 LSU had 65 players in their baseball program. I started at DH in High School, the guy who started at 1B in front of me got a Full Ride to LSU. He washed out fairly quickly and it didnt matter b/c of TOPS they were bringing in multiple guys at every posit...

Re: Congratulations Greenies

Let's see.... as a local baseball player, pay $35000 +/ year for partial schools to go to Tulane and play baseball. or go to any state school in La and get most paid for with TOPS. The rest covered by a partial athletic scholarship. There is the reason NO MATTER WHO COACHES BASEBALL AT TULANE, CHAN...

Re: Rick Jones' Future

All of the other successful privates have overcome this. Our administration can choose to overcome it too. Plus any player trying to get academic aid is best off if he fails to mention he is a baseball player. If the administration won't help then there is another way. You don't need 35 players. Yo...
