Re: ACC looks at Stanford/Cal
The PAC 12 still exists and given its special treatment in the rules (not autobids), it’s unlikely that they will -leave- the PAC12 unless it’s for the ACC. They could merge with another league, but they aren’t leaving for the AAC or MWC.

Re: Tulane among a number of schools filing to join the imploding PAC-12
Yoggie board citing reports that Tulane, SMU and one other AAC school meeting with PAC today. I guess trying to cobble together a new PAC with other western schools such as SDSU, UNLV, CSU, Boise and Fresno St. The ACC could kill this PAC Hail Mary by inviting Tulane, SMU, Memphis, USF, UConn, and ...

TV markets (eyeballs). Winning not even a priority in these latest moves. We can’t even get a bubble built but some blame people here for Tulane’s continued lack of commitment. Actually got out of CUSA under the worst President since Fenner. Times have changed and we are always one step behind. Qui...

Re: Teams being considered for the Big 12?
Don’t forget that if the ACC collapsed, the Big 12 would probably take 2-4 members, so, between the Big 12, B1G, and SEC taking what they want, whatever is left won’t be that valuable. Think at least 8-10 teams (including Notre Dame) leave.

Re: Tulane Rejoins SEC
It’s fine to pose potential hypotheticals, but the chances of this - being the current SEC expands by 2 with one slot being for Tulane - are literally zero (not close to, not approaching, literally zero). The same is true for the B1G, Big 12 and ACC.

Yes. Left behind again. 😢😢 Maybe if the ACC breaks up we could join the remnants with USF Sad day for Tulane fans. The end of big time FB is slowing coming to the end. Years of negligence and de-emphasis have finally done us in. That and corporate greed. There's a bunch of schools who did much bett...

Re: Tulane among a number of schools filing to join the PAC-12
As noted before, the number of P5 seats is decreasing - not expanding. Tulane should try to join whatever is left of the PAC, but it looks like Tulane will be stuck once conference out moving forward.

Re: Tulane among a number of schools filing to join the PAC-12
According to Pete Thalmel, the P12 media deal offered is primarily streaming per Apple and also based on how many prescribers they get. Big reason why Arizona and other schools will try to leave though I think the Big 12 will stop at 14 schools for now. Question for Tulane is would it be worth it, ...

Re: ESPN Computer's Overrated College Football Teams
FPI rankings are solely to predict the next game that a team plays and aren’t either a preseason or end of season prediction. To that end and given that they apply the same methodology across all teams, it makes sense.

Re: Would Tulane moving up to the Power Five affect LSU?
Not really unless Tulane got into either the SEC or B1G. There are two primary considerations here - (1) teams that are seriously competing for a national title recruit nationally even though they still do well in their responsive states and (2) the SEC and B1G are separating themselves from the Big...

9. The number one request of the student athletes is to have mental health counseling. Tulane has 350 student athletes, over 300 of them used mental health services at least once over the past academic year. Tulane has to hire more mental health professionals and nutritionists. Look for expansion a...

Re: Tulane Now Standardized Test Optional for Admissions
I have mixed feelings about this. ACT/SAT test scores provide a level standard as a single test, taken under equal conditions, to measure student achievement fairly. But it is biased toward more affluent kids. I spent a few thousand bucks easily on ACT prep courses, books, and private tutors for my...

Re: Tulane being considered for the Big 12?
As much as we all hated Cowen and Dickson they got us out of CUSA. Now under Fitts and Dannen we are back. We need to do anything to get out ASAP even if it’s the dying PAC 12. The challenge is that the number of seats at the highest levels are shrinking - not expanding. If Oregon/Washington move t...

Re: Tulane being considered for the Big 12?
Aberzombie, after reading your input, I couldn’t agree with the fact about winning. Without us winning we’d be the Cowdick bottom of the barrel program that we were for eons. Now , I do agree about fitting better with ACC from an intrinsic standpoint. But—no winnings =no value. The history of butts...

Re: Tulane being considered for the Big 12?
Same thing that the B10 saw in Rutgers who've really done nothing since joining the conference. UCONN was never competitive in the AAC especially after Tulane arrived, and it will take them a long time in the B12 to be competitive if ever. It’s not about winning so much anymore. It’s bringing value...

The whole notion that the Big 10 is a premier conference is complete bullshit. They suck, no really they're terrible. Tulane’s not on the B1G’s radar either now or for the foreseeable future given that the ACC is still intact and UVA/UNC/GATech/Miami are all part of that conference and are all AAU. For SDSU, it seems pretty clear that any PAC 13 expansion would include them and that the Big 12 was just posturing wh...

Re: 7 ACC Schools Joining Together, Considering Future Of Conference
I thought the Big 12's deal with ESPN includes no pro-rata additional money for adding more G5 schools. So why would UNLV, SDSU or UConn even be on their radar? It would mean diluting what they already receive. I could almost see UConn if they really are looking to get a separate contract for baske...
