Re: Welcome Aboard Willie Fritz!!!

To play devil's advocate here for just a second... Dannen, Fritz, Burke, VB coach Barnes: it seems like we're putting together a really strong group in athletics. It seems like this is a group of world beaters. Are they really, or are we just so used to mediocrity and failure that 'NORMAL' seems so...

Re: Welcome Aboard Willie Fritz!!!

I was just coming back to post about the change in the timing of spring practice. I always harped on what a mistake CJ was making w/such early spring practices not to mention canceling some of them. Being that early didn't allow players time to recover physically and mentally from previous seasons....

Trevor Knight from OU might be a nice stop gap- he is graduating so could be eliglible immediately, and he got a full release from Stoops. Plus WF is following him on Twitter! http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/dec/11/oklahoma-quarterback-trevor-knight-granted-full-re/?utm_source=RSS_Feed&...

My understanding is that it was dumbed down for the young WRs and TEs Could be Jax. But the said they specifically asked Joseph to come back to mentor Lee and Powell. Lee made horrible decisions in a dumbed down system. Plus he is injury prone. Mostly due to a horrible OL. Guess we will see what Wi...

Re: They give out the Heisman tonight. Who is your favorite?

Henry will win, but McCaffrey is the best player. The Navy QB was screwed by not being invited to NY. That may be true, but if he had been invited he would have had to turn it down. There is this game today of somewhat importance to college football which he would have had to miss to be there. THAT...

Re: Welcome Aboard Willie Fritz!!!

On thing I notice in film of him at practice and in game is his fire and intensity. He is not "down home" on the field. CJ always looked like a deer in the headlights. Spring practice will be a shock to some of our boys.

Re: Tanner Lee

Back to the topic....Tanner Lee. He has been in the program 3 years, right? Why did the offense have to be "dumbed down" in 2015 by limiting plays for him? Remember....the offense "worked" when Joseph played. And Joseph was brought back and given a scholarship to mentor Lee and P...

Re: Potential head football coach candidates search

I hope and imagine WF and TD discussed this issue [JC's] and agree on the guidelines. The policies and guidelines for admitting JUCOs are not determined between Coach and AD. That's a Fitz level thing. It wouldn't qualify as one of Goldring's "inherent challenges." JUCO admission policy i...

Good read here: http://247sports.com/Article/Why-the-zone-read-is-a-crucial-offensive-staple--39890780 That is a very good article, the second half of which is totally focused on Willie Fritz and his innovative offensive schemes. I'm so much more impressed than I was when I first heard he was a can...

His DC and OC at Ga So have lots of experience. If one is not promoted look for them to come to Tulane. His OC was with Fritz at Sam Houston. The DC also coaches secondary.

Re: Potential head football coach candidates search

I think some people have misunderstood my question. I fully understand the facilities are not up to par. My question was regarding coaches needing to look beyond what's there and see the potential. Is that more likely to happen with a coach that has seen Tulane win in the past, as compared to someo...

Re: How does one recruit with no one at the helm?

As a new HC, you are always going to be at a disadvantage the first recruiting year. You need to reach out to the athletes that the previous (fired) coach got committed and hope that you want them. Depending on where you came from, you may be able to get a couple of kids to commit to you that you r...

Re: Tulane Picks Up Three Star QB in Jack Abraham

Lee was and is pretty frail looking despite his height. Without an upgrade in the OL any QB is going to get battered. Brees could not survive behind our line.

Clean house. We need a fresh start and no one is that critical from the last 4 years. The garbage with HS coaches demanding CJ play their players has to go. Rollins is part of that system.

Re: Potential head football coach candidates search

Robert, i'm not advocating for Brohm, but definitely Brohm-like. We have the time for someone Brohm-like who is experienced and a winner. Someone like him will bring us success and when he moves on to the next opportunity in 3-4 years, that is when we can take the aggressive approach aka Lincoln Ri...

Re: Tulane Picks Up Three Star QB in Jack Abraham

Most impressive thing about those stats is that touchdown to int ratio. WOW! Congratulations to young Mr. Abraham. BUT he is a pure pro drop back passer- his stats show 63 career rushes for (-72) yards so he NOT a dual threat QB. His commitment may depend on the coach we hire and the offense he run...

I like him. Put me on the Kendal Briles wagon. Like Tps said, we could do a lot worse. Well many Baylor fans would be glad to hand him over. His play calling cost the TCU game for sure and didn't help in the OU game. He gets stuck on the read option run up the gut too much. He's got some of the bes...

Re: Open Letter to Troy Dannen

The Head Football Coach has been at NI for 15 years, and the Head Basketball Coach for 9 years, so Mr. Dannen hired neither, so he has little to no experience in that most important function. He will be relying on the BOA and RD for help- especially since he is not on board until the end of Decembe...
