Re: Moreau to LSU
If we had a semi-competitive program, I'm sure we would have landed him.

Re: Internal hire at DL coach- Lichtenberger is back
I just love how we can't afford a decent special teams coach, yet we can build a new stadium.

Probably correct. But I'm still holding out hope that Fitts will be better than his predecessor.
It is very concerning that Houston, Tulsa and SMU all appear to have taken major steps forward this offseason while Tulane did nothing.

The thought of RD remaining as A/D past June of 2015 is most sickening!!!
Well that's a given. Maybe by 2020 we'll have competent leadership.

Re: Tulane University losing $15-$20 million a year
I'm saying the reason for the deficit might be (partially) due to the debt service after the building spree post-Katrina.
If Tulane is losing $20MM/year, it's no wonder Fitts is trying to raise $1B. Granted, growing the endowment is very, very important but Tulane needs cash.

Re: Tulane University losing $15-$20 million a year
I don't understand it either. How is Cowen so revered by the Board/alumni/students? But I think the primary reason for the deficit is that Cowen went on a building spree after Katrina (new dorms/libraries etc.) and as a result left the new regime holding the bag. Hence, a $1B fundraising campaign.

Re: Tulane University losing $15-$20 million a year
I, too, think Tulane could be in deep trouble moving forward. The school is losing $15-20MM/year, is no longer ranked among the elite and the cost of attendance has risen to unsustainable levels. And that's to say nothing of Tulane's disastrous moves re: athletics and engineering/comp sci under the ...

Re: Tulane University losing $15-$20 million a year
According to my search it looks like the endowment was approx. $600MM in 1998 vs. 1.1B today.
Granted, there have been two market crashes since 2000 but this doesn't seem to be that impressive after factoring in contributions/additions. Am I wrong?

It's not sustainable to have people pay $150K for most degrees.
But I'd really like to see what TU's endowment was in 1998.

What an embarrassing statement about Yulman stadium.
No kidding. We really made an unwise trade from the Dome to Yulman.

I think our AD has a lifetime comp after Yulman. The success or failure of MBB this season (pleasant surprise so far) really doesn't make a difference IMO.

Cowen thought that year was a fluke.
And we're still picking flowers with RD after 15 years!
I get upset now thinking about 1998. Sorry.

Re: CJ's Recruiting Dud
I'm a bit concerned at this point. But recruiting rankings are a function of your program's prestige at a given time. For example, if a player commits to Tulane/Wyoming/New Mexico State, he's not getting four (or even three) stars. Now I do think the 2016 La. class is loaded. But Tulane can't afford...

Re: Median D1A Athletic Dept Rev 1970: $6.5M 2012: $56M
Had TU hired Rich Rod after 1998 and invested in football, we could have become what TCU is today in a P5 league. But that's history. The football deal with Cowen was similar to the engineering/computer science cuts after 2005. In the short term it made sense to some but in the long run proved disas...
