Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

I'm sure the players know enough to recognize that other teams run better plays at the offensive end and compete and work harder than Dunleavy has taught them at the defensive end. In short, they know they're not getting coached up and put in a position to succeed. I don't give a crap what gbg or an...

Re: Football Recruiting -- 2019

OU's back up QB Austin Kendall has just entered the NCAA transfer portal. He was to be the new OU starting QB, with Kylar Murray going into the NFL draft. This strongly suggests that Jalen Hurts will be heading to OU, and Kendall is squeezed out between Hurts (1 year eligibility), and Spencer Rattl...

gbg: Calling him "boy from China" is extremely politically incorrect, and some would say racist. He's played basketball in the US for a few years, and yes, he's Chinese, but his name is Zhang. And he's not going to save Dunleavy's job. Bringing back Dunleavy could cost Troy Dannen his job....

Re: God bless you, Jordan Cornish

I feel for him and the other players. Not only are they not being coached up to take advantage of their strengths and minimize their weaknesses, their coach questions them in the press and never holds himself accountable for anything. I wish the media would ask him "Coach, at what point do you...

Re: Football Recruiting -- 2019

Jalen Hurts would make McM look like JV. Seriously, did you think he was all that great? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, especially since he only came into the program in late August. But IF we had a chance (and we dont) to land the former SEC Player of the Year, he'd immediately be first st...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

+1,00,000 I'd do ANYTHING to get Steve Alford. That would be a serious investment in basketball as a "front porch" sport. Dunleavy is the only mens basketball HC Troy has ever hired. I hope he has the kahunas to fire him if Mike D. doesn't step down. I wish Mike Dunleavy the best, but &quo...

Want to fantasize about a former SEC offensive player of the year? Jalen Hurts from Alabama graduated in December and is eligible for an immediate transfer: https://www.si.com/college-football/2019/01/09/jalen-hurts-alabama-enters-transfer-portal http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/2572...

Sounds like Dick Longo was a better coach! "You are what your record says you are" Bill Parcels.

Good point. Actually the top 4 G5 teams could probably compete with the top 5-25 P5. Thus there's a few G5 teams in the top 25. But the media bias to the P5 really hurts the G5.

I don't necessarily think he has to act before the end of the season. If he canned Dunleavy, he'd name an assistant as interim HC. What good would that do? At least let the kids appreciate Dunleavy's wisdom for two more months. But this staff simply isn't getting the job done, and the X's and O's ar...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

No, the team has not quit. They just stink, and are a much worse team and program than 3 years ago. There is absolutely nothing to indicate a turn around is coming. And winning 10 games next year, which would be an improvement over this season's dumpster fire, is not where we want to be.

At least 80 FBS teams seem like they would be solid underdogs against the FCS champs. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2019/1/7/18170160/north-dakota-state-fbs I've had this argument with posters on this board for years. Someone that can still post on YOGWF should point out to them that UNI had basketball success while Dannen was there, but his first HC hire as an AD was Mike Dunleavy. Their coach, who is still there, was hired before he was their AD.

Exactly. Were "discussions" a formal interview, or was it a case of Troy calling and Hall saying "I have a job I"m committed to." ? Or was it somewhere in between? I'd love it if Hall came out on social media and said "I'm committed to Tulane as OC and am not interested...
