Re: Was Tulane better off as an independent?
Outside of Tulane, Army, and Rice, every team that has ever been in or is in CUSA has either plotted or made a move up. Louisville, Cincy, S.Florida, TCU have all moved up. ECU, UCF, USM, Memphis, Houston, SMU are all actively trying to move up. We can ignore that fact and be gung ho CUSA to our own...

Re: Lessons from Major League Soccer
I've never understood where the space or parking will come from, but IF those were alleviated or there IS a plan, I certainly wouldn't oppose a 35K+ stadium. Anything less than that and you lose me. 25K and I'm on the waiting list for LSU season tickets b/c it's over for us.

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
Only a fool takes a season where we were obviously in a growth period and calls the final game skewed. Our attendance was GROWING. When something is growing the it tends to get bigger as it goes along. To simply say we Avg. said attendance in 98 is disingenuous. We were in a growth period brought on...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
I have the facts on 98 and have been posting them for a decade. If not for the hurricane we would've averaged 31,000+ per game. Only the hurricanes can be considered skewed. La. Tech attendance was the result of "success" which is what we're talking about here, "What would our attenda...

Re: Lessons from Major League Soccer
I agree that a 35,000 person stadium on campus would be the right move. 35K minimum. I also think the position Tulane is in is more complicated than the above situation. Your ability to draw fans in college football depends heavily on 3 things 1. Size of school/local alumni base 2. Success 3. Attrac...

I'm in Psychoville and TimLan's the mayor. You're the one who went on another board and started calling people names, and by people I mean screen names on the internet. If anyone is acting like an internet tough guy its you. Even your "brethren" on Tigerdroppings think your post was strang...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
Dave Dixon?? I just as much as anyone on any of these forums have the belief that Tulane if it chooses to do so can be a top 20 program drawing 40,000+ and considerably more for games against SEC or name teams. I totally have a vision for the road that Tulane needs to take. Is it my fault that Cowen...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
Winning 7 or 8 games will not get us over 35K in 2 or 3 years. We're going to have to be successful for 5-8 years at that level for it to happen on a consistent basis. While I think there is a bigger market for Tulane than many we also have to be realistic. If Tulane goes 9-4 this year, we still are...

Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"
You "tried" to be a fan. Why are you even posting that on Tigerdroppings? You went talking sh*t on a LSU message board and you're complaining about someone else not saying something to your face? You'll have to bring me up to speed on this whole "trying" to be a fan thing. You ga...

Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"
I didn't say the guy isn't a complete jacka##. He came off pretty terrible in his post, I just meant that LSU fans en masse don't care about Tulane at this point. What happens alot with LSU fans and now Saints fans is the ones who didnt actually go to the school or who didn't start rooting for the S...

Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"
LSU fans don't attack Tulane because of the education issues. I said this months ago, if you are arguing about Sports and your only argument is "we're are better at academics" you've lost the argument. In all honesty LSU fans and students don't care one bit about Tulane. I went there for 4...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/6857085/sec-high-demand-texas-florida-state-talk-simmers Looks like Texas AM is headed to SEC which means that someone from the ACC is also headed to the SEC. Looks like either FSU or Clemson. This means the ACC is going to have to add someone which I bel...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
Also the Big East now stretches from Connecticut south to Tampa, west to Fort Worth, and back up through Louisville to Cincinnati. Also both the Big 10 and Pac 10 would like to stretch to Austin, TX. I would assume that the SEC is going to take a swipe at Texas AM eventually, not sure who they would...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
There are really only 3 stable football conferences, SEC, Big 10, and Pac 10. After that the ACC is pretty stable, but I would venture to guess there are teams in that conference that would leave if offered a spot in the Big 10 or SEC. No team is leaving the 1st 3 to go anywhere. That means that aft...

Re: As Predicted
I just think that the heat issue is only going to get worse and more regulated over time and I'd hate to get caught in a situation where we have to miss practices b/c of the heat while other schools with IPF's miss zero time. This goes for rain as well. Just from a forward thinking perspective, this...

Re: Should we be trying to reposition in a BCS Conference?
Tulane FANS have a very strong interest in finding a way into a BCS conference. Judging from the attitude of Cowen and Dickson I'm of the opinion that they really believe we have zero chance of ever moving up in stature. In 98 we were far ahead the TCU's and Boise St.'s of the world in every sport, ...

Re: Indoor Practice Facility vs. Conditioning
I think practicing outdoors in this heat can be very advantageous down the road conditioning wise. I also think the sport is heading to a place where it becomes less and less acceptable to run kids into the ground in August heat and humidity in the South and other places for football practice. I'm n...

How much do you wanna bet many of the same largely "pro-stadium" folk are going to be the 1st ones complaining about the 95-105 degree weather they have to sit through in early September to early October every year for 2:30 games. I don't believe that all practices should be moved indoors ...

Admittedly I don't know alot about Derenbecker and haven't seen him play, Benfield was 6-3, 6-4. He might be good here if he comes, I don't know, but when I hear "has trouble adjusting to the speed of the college game", that makes it sound an awful lot like the other small school guys I've...

Re: Tammy tweeting about basketball rumors - UPDATE
Not to be negative, but I've yet to see any of those guys out of Country Day pan out. They don't play anybody except during pre district tourneys when nobody gameplans which makes all the difference in the world. I could've averaged 18-20 at Country Day and I had zero business playing on a Division ...
