Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Your video is by Baseball Classroom and labeled as NFHS rules, which is High School. Do you think everyone is stupid? And the "NCAA rulebook" you quoted is from the same site. I guess you are as stupid as I am. They explain the differences between various rule sets. In every level of base...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Ok, then show me the rule. You haven't yet. You're expertise lead you to the same wahoo site you criticized me for using, not the NCAA rulebook. Here's copy/paste from NCAA rulebook, page 29, definitions: Illegally Batted Ball SECTION 44. A ball hit, fair or foul, by the batter when either one or bo...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Here is llink to site https://baseballrulesacademy.com/official-rule/ncaa/ncaa-7-1-a-batter/ Again, I'm sorry, but you are mistaken. This refers to a batter's stance at the time of pitch. (Copied and pasted from your link to Baseball Academy. The video I linked above, which you clearly ignored, con...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
i would have to look at rule. i think your interpretation is wrong but i also think umpires are reluctant to call having been a d1 soccer ref myself. Think all you want, you are wrong. Sorry. Look at the rule. LEARN the rule. In all levels of play, the lines of the batter's box are part of the batt...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
you are supposed to be out if you are out of batters box And by rule the batters were not out of the box. Know the rule. In HS (NFHS) it's 7-3-2. i would have to look at rule. i think your interpretation is wrong but i also think umpires are reluctant to call having been a d1 soccer ref myself. Thi...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
you will not get my support on pussifying everything like that Throwing accurately hard and inside is manly. Throwing deliberately hard and intentionally hitting someone is cowardly. a brushback is not intentionally hitting, hence the term brushback You just argued my point. I'm arguing against thr...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Perfect example, the left handed batter #1, Oyama. Stands with his back foot on the front line, and when he lifts his right leg to start his swing, his calf and foot swing out OVER the corner of the plate. Yet if he gets hit, they're not going to call him out. Next example, left handed batter #16, ...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
I went back to the 5th inning since that was about when you posted. Oyama in the 5th: Bunt attempts, back foot remains in the box on both pitches, yes, the front of his foot crosses the line, the back of his foot is in the box, thus he's in the box by rule. Watched the whole at bat, nothing was wron...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Next batter. Right handed batter #34, Garcia. Doesn't stand on the line. Has his back foot in the front corner of the box. Again, when he starts his swing, like #1, he swings it out over the plate. Any inside pitch he's going to put his foot down and get hit, yet his foot will be out of the batters...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Did you look at how they're standing in the batter's box? Their back foot is ON the front line, in many cases OVER the front line, which isn't allowed. That's not "crowding the plate", that's purposely looking to get hit. You're right Robert, you must know the rules better than the umpire...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Which is why, when a team is doing like UCI does, you need to drill them with a few high hard ones and they won't stand so close any more. Intentionally hitting anyone is bush league. Throwing inside to send a message is one thing, but drilling someone is bush, and should result in an ejection. Pur...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
It’s become an art form. Some schools have mastered it as it improves your OBP. See the link I provided on LSU. We should take notes. The game has changed we need to change with it. Teams that do this we need to pitch differently to combat it. Either way, if you don't throw the ball in the batter's...

Re: UAB Game Thread
D- everybody knows how Tulane athletics acts and that there is a good chance Hunter is coming back. But most everybody wants him gone and that's why these forums exist so that people can vent about the situation and let their feelings be known. That also leads to discussion of possible replacements...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Leaning into a pitch entails moving toward the plate on a pitch coming inside. It's a totally unnatural act and is so obvious, it's an easy call for the ump. I didn't see all the HBP's yesterday, only catching a couple of innings between family stuff. But I haven't seen anyone "lean into"...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
Now 8. Guy just stands there and inside pitch hits him. Zero attempt to get out of the way. I would do the same thing if umpires are not going to call it. More disappointed that Uhlman is not in the clubhouse. I would have been ejected last night and today. Time for me to hit the showers. Seen enou...

Re: UAB Game Thread
Been looking at possible coaching candidates. Here are a few that stood out. Mitch Henderson: Princeton. 10 winning seasons over 11 years. Not an easy place to win. Mike Morrell. UNC Asheville. Coached under Shaka Smart. Pat Kelsey. Charleston. 234-114. 4 conference titles in last 6 years. Bryce Dr...

Re: UC-Irvine Series Thread
It’s a real shame we lost that game. 1 bad inning where our pitcher lost all control cost us. We finally got a couple timely hits and I am happy coach made those defensive changes. Happy to see Lynn back out there. When Banks finds his groove it will be fun to see what we can do. The pitcher that c...

Re: Tulane’s hiring of Sumrall graded A+ the highest in all of CFB
I don't wish ill on Fritz. I don't understand why others cannot turn the page? He did more for Tulane football in my lifetime than anyone else. Do I think he's the greatest coach in the world? Hell no. I think he got a little lucky that, as he said after the Cotton Bowl, he rode the coattails of a f...

Re: CFP Goes for 5+7 System
What still blows my mind is why ANY G5 conference rep would vote in favor of the 5+7, knowing it reduces the chances for their own schools? You know their goal is to eventually eliminate all G5s from the playoff. So why keep giving in so easily? STAND YOUR GROUND. The 5+7 is reconfirming the G5 pro...

Re: Tulane Beats Nicholls St. 3-2
It was a nice win last night for the Wave. Well played, both teams had a runner thrown out at the plate early that should not have been sent home. The CF for Nichols I thought was the player of the game. He saved a bunch of runs with catches few players make. Our pitchers were gutty. I'm a bit conce...
