Re: National Press is Never a Bad THing - Front Page of Yaho

We can improve attendance immediately by giving his entire family season tickets. Didn't Bob Marley have 19 children? (So much for the arguement that pot leads to infertility) With all the cousins, we'd double our season ticket base! :P

Re: National Press is Never a Bad THing - Front Page of Yaho

At 5'7" I can't see him playing LB anywhere in FCS or FBS. I think he'll be a strong safety. His father was a great player, and was somewhat undersized, too, but as I recall was three or four inches taller. (Not enough time to look it up) Both his grandfather and uncle could play...but not foot...

Re: Big East meeting today to discuss future...

If asked, we should jump through hoops to join this year. Yes, RD would have to work to get the schedule right, and we'd probably have to negotiate the exit with CUSA, but the sooner we're out of CUSA the better. Plus, if the BE stays together one more year then implodes, at least we've got a year t...

Re: Another LSU transfer?

Looks like Muncie is going to be a senior, not a rs senior. (He was a member of a 2010 HS all star squad) That would mean he's going to have to sit out a year if he transfers.

Glad to see that others feel our recruits are worthy. Sure, we have to work to keep them, but that's what it means to play with the big boys.

Re: TP'S James Smith to discuss Tulane recruiting on Fox 8 1

I kept asking Tulane related questions in the online NOLA.com chat earlier this week (Tues?) They were all ignored. At the end I threw a couple of obnoxious ones, like "do you have any comments on Tulane recruiting, or is this just the SEC recruiting discussion?" He threw a line or two jus...

Re: Antonio McGee decommits

I don't care how often an 18 year old (maybe even 17!) kid changes his mind. If he settles on Tulane and can contribute, welcome with open arms! D-Line (and O-Line) are HUGE needs. LB's are needed too!

Re: UTEP 66 - Tulane 57

Not having seen the game, I can't comment on the play, officials, or in-game coaching. But I can ask a couple of simple questions that should have CowDick thinking: Which of these two teams (UTEP and Tulane) seems to be improving? Which one has played the tougher schedule and is ready for CUSA play?...

Re: Nick Montana

I agree but my thinking is that we just need a solid player there, not a superstar. Yeah, you right. I would certainly take it if he's another Ryan Griffin. If the O-line improves, and the running game gets going, someone the equal of Ryan, who knows the offense well (and can read defenses and help...

Re: Realignment hell...

Cowen and Dickson have actually been pretty much correct on this conference stuff. Cowen was right to call the BE not a power league and to chastise teams for going there. (really, keep UCF, Memphis, HOu and SMU in C-USA and the BE isn't better than C-USA). He was also right to work like the devil,...

I read your post three or four times. It makes no sense, as written. And way too many claims that this guy or that one has 4.3 speed, when very, very few can actually run a 4.3.

Re: Duke Riley

For what he's trying to do Duke Riley has much better measurables than a guy trying to play in a League filled with 6-8 to 7-1 guys who can jump out the gym and run 4.3's . Riley will be fine at LB and if he's good enough to play in the NFL his size wont stop him from being an NFL LB. What league h...

Re: Realignment hell...

Big 10 isnt taking Miami, maybe Virginia, Ga.Tech, UNC, with a long shots being Notre Dame, Texas and Oklahoma. Notre Dame is not going anywhere with their football, unless NBC doesn't renew their contract and they can't sell it to another network. Not going to happen, regardless of whether or not ...

Re: when you think your team has no fans

And I bet was a key reason that they were so fired up while Florida, who's fans (for good reason) didn't travel well, was so flat. Heck, over the years some of Tulane's best games were on the road, or at home against teams that brought a lot of fans to the Dome. 31-28, 48-7 are two scores that come ...

Re: Realignment hell...

I would say we're (Tulane) in Purgatory right now. Not really in the Big East, but clearly on our way out of C-USA. I don't know if we're any more attractive to a better conference now than we were before the announcement that we're joining the BE, but at least it's clear we're not happy staying in ...

Re: Nick Montana

There's a reason he was not a starter at UW. Other than they had Jake Locker and Keith Price who are 2 pretty darn good quarterbacks? You know, JP Losman didn't start til his junior year... Exactly my point. Just because his last name is Montana, doesn't mean he's the second coming of Joe. Maybe he...

Re: when you think your team has no fans

At the same time we should wonder how our boys feel to see so many empty seats in the Superdome. As much as I know the OCS project has warts, if it generates enough interest to sell out the opener, and at least approach capacity as the year progresses, just think of what kind of affect that can have...

Foster's concern at the time was over environmental racism lawsuits halting development. Nothing involved with pollution. Frivolous bs in my opinion. I've heard negatives from several people. One of my good friend's who's a civil engineer Jesuit and TU grad, his father has a masters in engineering ...

fwiw Barbour was let go from UCLA so no longer is she a super powerful AD. But god love her. Re: Vote on the worst Tulane AD in the last 50 or so years.

I still think Barbour is the worst, simply because she wasted all the good will of the Bowden era by hiring Scelfo. Barbour was all set to hire Rich Rodriquez, Cowen pulled an end-around on her and hired Scelfo. I vote for Rix Yard, who allowed the worst mistake in Tulane Athletics history to be pe...

These Bowl game Chairmen are the same morons that try to sell us on the idea that a D1 playoff won't work. They have too much at stake, with their $600k+ salaries (ridiculous, given that the "charity" they represent donates a small fraction of that to real charities, and distributes $milli...

Re: Tulane Beats Alabama 53-50

This was a big win, and needs desperately to be followed by a demolition of Wofford. A big win tonight and we can (almost) forget about the loss at San Diego. A loss tonight and the win at 'Bama is meaningless. So tonight becomes a pivotal game heading into conference play. I would like to see Conro...
