Re: The Nutmeg State

We have been blessed up here in the Nutmeg State. Assuming the women make it to the finals, it's four days in a row of big time Championship basketball. Folks are making jokes about the fact that Kevin Ollie was named "interim Head Coach" when Calhoun stepped down in the fall of 2012. His first game...

Re: Yulman Stadium Construction

At this point, it is a lost cause whatever Tulane does with Dickson in charge. He has shown under his watch that Tulane athletics will not and can not succeed. You can only get so much from the average fan. As of now I am still on the fence of buying season tix for football. Other than the occasion...

I just don't understand it! Every other former C-USA member sees the light. It's a great point. Evan at Tulsa, Manning is having a difficult time deciding whether to stay or take an offer from an ACC TEAM . Tulsa is already raising his pay and you can be assured that they will have a good hire in p...

We should go after the DE. But why was this added to a thread that has 95% of it's posts dated over a year ago? This is current, should be it's own new thread.

Re: U La La in Lafayette this Tuesday

Yikss big loss So ironic that Cowen's plan for 2003 was to end football at Tulane and become in reality solely a "baseball school" and continuing to neglect completely basketball. Cowen leaves baseball in "shambles" with Turchin in danger of becoming a "white elephant" existing only to truncate the...

Agree 100% Fred. It's an organizational approach that needs to be unified from the President through the University professors, staff, students and alumni alike. I think if we ever made such a commitment the possibilities are endless, but there needs to be a proclamation of the commitment followed ...

Sandy Barbour

Sandy has another major hire ahead of her with the retirement of Mike Montgomery. Given that her last hire, football coach Sonny Dykes, suffered through a 1-11 first season, there might be a little pressure on this hire. Now, Dykes took the field last fall with the third youngest team in FBS, a true...

Cowen probably won't make it because to do so would admit he was wrong in 2003, and that by connecting the dots you can figure out that he blew it for his entire tenure.

Re: Top 15 girls recruits in LA.

Everyone will be playing for 2nd place in the Aemrican. We need to improve our front court to get an NCAA bid. Guards are nice but to move back into the NCAA's we need a solid post and some good front court players with size. And I'll be interested to see how big a draw the Huskies are when they co...

Re: New COO

I laugh when I read in the same argument that Tulane blamed the Dome for its lack of success yet Fred blames Fogleman for the lack of success in basketball. Neither mattered as both were proven wrong in 1990's under Clark and Bowden. So go take that nonsense to the other board. We can and should wi...

20-15>>>>>>>17-17 RPI of 175>>>>>RPI of 220 No doubt I was on the Aztecs bandwagon this season. Fisher, X Thames and Josh Davis were an easy group to cheer for. Re: More data on the stupidity of the Tulane Model

With Alabama winning the National championship in football it greatly attracted better and more students as well. Boise State might be the poster child for branding a previously little know academic institution. They saw a dramatic increase in out of state applications and the quality of applicants...

I can't say that this was a good hire or a bad hire. I'll let time pass so that I can judge a body of work. But I also don't think SC will be running the show. We didn't hire a puppet. That being said, I think Athletics will be well down the list of areas to address when Fitts takes over. Yes, the d...

Re: New COO

If Fitts is going to change things athletically, it's going to need to be a reversal of not just the damage CowDick have done, but the University wide de-emphasis of Athletics that's been going on for 50-65 years. Tulane getting out of the SEC marked a beginning of a slide that's continued ever sinc...

Josh's college career comes to a close in a sweet 16 loss to Arizona. 6 pts 15 rebounds tonight And he clearly did himself proud and the right thing going to SDSU for his 5th year of eligibility. I wish RD would make the change and hire Mike White. The guy is a winner, and has done wonderful things at La. Tech. I think with his family tree ties to Tulane, and the opportunity, it could be a great fit. But CowDick doesn't have the foresight to make such a change, unfortunately.
