Re: Wake Forest Game Thread Thursday August 28, 2018

Buckeyes minus 37. Lay the points. I expect our Wave to be much improved next year, but we're still going to get blown out in Columbus.

But I'll take the Wave plus 8.5 versus Wake Forest.

Re: Attention Dannen Debunkers

Maybe we've improved enough to play .500 in conference. The football team, which signed it's best class on paper, was 5-6. Baseball is picked 8th in a weak AAC conference. Is this really where we want to be? Did anyone say that? I'm sure the answer from every one of us would be no. But, is where we...

Re: Tulsa Game Thread- Calling Troy Dannen

Students away for the holidays also. Win on Sunday then SMU may get some new people in the stands. Quality opponent. Wrong, we need to get fannies in the stands because we are playing well irrespective of the opponent. We can not be content with good attendance only for "quality" opponent...

Which is a streaming channel only. The game could be changed rather easily, though at this late date it might be tough to work out.

Re: Tulane whips Temple 85-75

Some expressed disappointment at letting Temple get close a few times and I agree that it added unwanted anxiety. However, when they overcome it and win by hitting free throws, getting key blocks and breaking presses with dunks, it builds for the next time. Who expressed disappointment? It was a fu...

Re: Attention Dannen Debunkers

So we won our first AAC basketball game of the year. On the road. Something we haven't done much of since joining the AAC. And yes, the players are improved. But there's going to be nights, as we saw in the pre-conference schedule, where this team takes it's lumps. Maybe we've improved enough to pla...

Re: Temple Game Thread

We shoot 19 of 20 free throws. Think Dunleavey emphasizes this in practice? Remember 2 years ago when we couldn't shoot 50% from the line? Blake Paul has become more important to the team than Sehic. Can't believe I just said that. First win over Temple in over 20 years! Agreed. Hit a couple of nic...

Re: Temple Game Thread

Complete game and Dunleavy coached one helluva ROAD VICTORY!!! Agreed. He took the timeouts when the home team was getting back into it, stopped the runs, and best of all ran another home run slam dunk play when the Temple coach took a timeout down 8 with 5 seconds left! Statement win for the Wave ...

Rose's 3 pt play that fouled out Ona-Embo was a blatant walk. MAYBE it was a foul on Ray, but he clearly took three steps.

Re: Temple Game Thread

Temple cuts it to 4 and Dunleavy calls time out. Should have been a minute earlier, or so, as our offense had gone pathetically stagnant! But at least he called the timeout, which he didn't do a year ago. Because Ona Embo came out. As soon as he went back in at the two minute mark you could see the...

Re: Temple Game Thread

The game is still early, but this has been the best stretch of D I've seen us play this year. The blowout game in Jamaica (Colorado St?) our opponent just couldn't hit shots. This has been an outstanding effort to play team D. Something I've been critical of, as I thought they played NBA D most of t...

Re: Tanner Lee

Good luck to him. If he's going to get drafted, he needs to have a great pro day and very good combine. Maybe it's because he just declared today, but I've looked at half a dozen prospect lists, including a few that go 25+ deep, and he's not even mentioned. He always has looked great in practice, so...

Re: Temple Game Thread

Here's a surprising quote from the Advocate article which winwave provided: The website http://RealtimeRPI.com forecasts an 11-7 finish in the AAC (for Tulane) and a tie for third behind newcomer Wichita State. I am more than a little surprised by this prediction. I think everyone on this forum wou...

Considering we've won 4 conference home games in the 3 years we've been in the AAC, winning 5 this year at home and 7-8 overall would be a huge improvement!

They've played a much better pre-conference schedule. They also beat Clemson and Wisconsin. Their loss to Villanova was comparable to our loss to UNC in that both teams trailed by 20 relatively early and the game wasn't close. They've played 11 games: 3 Wins in the Charleston Classic against ODU, Au...

Re: ASU OC Billy Napier New ULALA Head Coach

Unfortunately, Fanatico, it's not going to be a re-alignment on a school by school basis, but rather with the conferences. UL-L is NOT going to get a P5 (or P6) invite. Tulane probably isn't either, unless things change dramatically. And the TV contracts are mostly 2022-2024, not 2020. Winning the S...

Re: Fritz on verge of extension

Tulane declined a Rose Bowl invite in 1925 in order to keep their student athletes in class. That may have been Tulane's best team ever, as the only blemish was a tie to Missou, and shut outs in 6 of 10 games. They went undefeated again in 1929 and 1931, with a loss to Northwestern in 1930 preventi...
