Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Just think about the current NBA players that went to small schools that never really had an NBA star before. Have any of those schools really benefited from having one good player in the NBA? Thinking Davidson, which had a certain future NBA MVP taken (a whole lot higher than Melvin will be picked...

Kody Hoese just drafted 35nd round KC
I thought you had to be 3 years removed from your HS graduating class if you didn't go pro after HS?

Isn't Hoese going to be a true Junior? I really don't know the rules any more.

Re: 2018 MLB Draft

My bad, Show Me, I thought he was a HS kid based upon the comment "he'd be better off coming to Tulane to improve his draft status". He is 21 years old, and was picked in the 32nd round by Milwaukee 3 years ago. So he improved by 26 rounds by spending a year at Nebraska and then going to JUCO. LOL, ...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Nice response, MBA, and very accurate, I would think. Not sure that Scelfo had a big boost when he had a 1st round pick in 2002 and 2004. But I hear what you're saying.

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

The same way it helped Bob Toledo when Forte was drafted in the 2nd round and became an impact player his rookie season. Scratching my head at that one. Is this sarcasm? Didn't Toledo get fired a couple years later, which would imply his recruiting didn't get any boost from Forte in the NFL? I aske...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

This will impact recruiting in a major way. That's been debated throughout this thread. I'm not sure it's really going to help, as his strongest point--playing D--is not anything that Dunleavy stresses. Dunleavy did improve his shot dramatically, but I don't know that Melvin going in the first roun...

Re: 2018 MLB Draft

Hard to tell a 17 or 18 year old that $264K is "not a lot of money". Then turn around and ask him to spend about that much (less financial aid and/or scholarship money) to enroll at Tulane.

D- unfortunately I don't think they stream it. I know tps has in the past been able to record segments like that and post it here. I'm not tech savvy enough to do it or I gladly would. If you ask people around New Orleans if Tulane is an Omaha team, 95% of them would say "No, they're uptown New Orleans." Very few would know what the hell you're talking about.

I would offer this reading..... Seems germane.......... https://mobile.nytimes.com/2004/03/28/magazine/coach-fitz-s-management-theory.html What a great read. Thanks for the post. Seems like WVB is bringing in talent from all over the US, and wants to build a program that can compete in conference and nationally. As you've pointed out, WVB is the fastest growing sport, we all welcome the opportunity to compete on the national stage.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen more people happy about Tulane hiring an assistant coach in all my years following the Wave.
This should be a lesson to TD: People are passionate about baseball at Tulane, and want OUR coaches, since the Rick Jones coaching tree is so talented.

Are we allowed to be happy over this or do we need to crap over it since the guy wasn't a 5* dude from Alabama? Nice to see the staff add an experienced offensive lineman who was highly recognized (even if it was in a lower conference). I think we should be happy. The staff added a good and experie...

Has the writer ever seen this offensive line play? Yes, they're veterans, but they are far from dominant and typically get our QB crushed. We need to play LSU on Thanksgiving EVERY YEAR IN PERPETUITY. Too bad Paul Tulane didn't put that in his gift to the State of Louisiana.

Re: Daniel Latham chosen as new pitching coach for Wave

If Daniel can lower our ERA by 2 runs we can have an additional 10 wins I would like Daniel to develop a legitimate closer By 2 runs?? That would put us in contention for the CWS, assuming we still score at the same rate! But more importantly, we have to eliminate the walk off base on balls or even...
