Re: New QB coach

Would have far preferred Lester Ricard as QB Coach to Price. He's a bright, charismatic guy with NFL experience, a Tulane guy, and he's already living here and coaching.

No one should be pointing fingers at Davis - he got his degree and played his heart out while he was here. He will have a career in basketball somewhere overseas. Look at this year as a post-grad internship. Would you rather do your internship for Steve Fisher or Ed Conroy?

Re: What would be a better for opening day at Yulman Stadium

Can I say any FBS team other than Tech? Watching an option team make you die a slow death is painful enough. However, our death may not be so slow as Tech is damn good and we run a 4-2-5 with fast but undersized linebackers designed to stop the spread offenses of the 21st century. If we ran a 3-4 wi...

Re: Graff gets radio call of the year

Not the worst, but definitely the moodiest. When I first turn him on during a game, I can almost tell the score from the tone of his voice. His preparation and knowledge are great, but I think his emotions are over the top and can make him unlistenable in the losses.

Re: Baseball's 2015 signing class

The HC kid you may be thinking of is Christian Clayton. He is currently just a junior so he will finish high school in 2015 and play for the Wave beginning in 2016. Very athletic kid who was throwing high-80's last year as a sophomore. Already about 6'1" or 6'2" and don't think he's done g...

The Defense

Not only did the defense play a great game, it was the most disciplined game I've ever seen from a Tulane defense. Zero defensive penalties, someone stayed home on every reverse (one went for 25 because Monroe missed a tackle), no receivers got behind the DB's, no busted coverages, no timeouts for s...

Re: Volleyball Schedule--Shameful, pathetic, pitiful, horren

17-2 and ranked 84th in RPI. Ouch! We are not a great team but at least competitive, unlike last year. If we had scheduled reasonably, we'd probably be 10-7 and still 84th in RPI, and maybe played a couple of opponents that would have brought out a few more fans. At least with a quality schedule you...

Re: Volleyball Schedule--Shameful, pathetic, pitiful, horren

This coming Friday night against UTSA will tell a lot. They are 8-5 but have played a more appropriate schedule, with losses to Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and San Diego State. The teams are probably pretty evenly matched in talent, but their schedule will certainly have them more prepared for a tig...

Re: Wave WVB shuts out UNO sets new record 8-0 start.

Show me a good conference record or wins over quality opponents and I'll start paying attention. Meanwhile, women's golf finished 10th of 15 in NCAA preview and that actually is worth noticing, as we only trailed champion and defending NCAA champ USC by 20 strokes for 3 days and finished ahead of pe...

Yesterday was a new low. We'll never be the Sonic Boom of the South, but some past shows at least had some energy. The energy should come from the MC, the song selection, the marching itself, and the playing of the songs with enthusiasm and volume. I felt like I was waiting in the dentist's office.

Re: Andrew Pratt Resigns as Head Women's Golf Coach

The athletic program has more than its share of issues, but women's golf will be just fine. With 4 of 5 starters returning and 2 blue chip recruits, the job will be appealing for prospective coaching applicants. And, we don't have to worry about someone donating millions of dollars to get their hand...

Re: Women's Golf quest for a National Championship

Tenth place would be a GREAT finish to a fantastic season. Hats off to the girls and Coach Pratt for representing TU at the highest level. Remember, Tulane has only won ONE national championship in anything in its history. Tenth in the nation in a sport with over 250 DI teams is not the same as 10th...

Re: Women's Golf NCAA East Regionals......

Ironically, the team that is beating us in regionals, also had their coach picked by Sue Bower. Sue was offered and turned down the Alabama job in 2004 and suggested to Mal Moore that he pursue Mic Potter from Furman, who has done an unbelievable job for the Tide for 9 years now.

Re: "Weak basketball schedule hurts Wave" ....The Hullabaloo

No question our team is better this year, and I don't think anyone is disputing that. But if we played six more competitive games and won four of them, our overall record would be 2 games worse, our RPI would be significantly better, and we'd be more battle tested for the tough games.

Re: "Weak basketball schedule hurts Wave" ....The Hullabaloo

Article was spot on except on thing - "mid-majors" would be a huge step UP from what we are currently scheduling. If we were playing true "mid-majors" like MAC, Missouri Valley, MWC, WCC, even Sun Belt our RPI wouldn't take the beating it does and we'd get some real tests and com...

Bravo Mike - awesome letter. The one drawback to the dome was the poor tailgating experience, and Champions square has done away with that objection. An indoor practice facility would do us wonders, for a fraction of the cost!

Re: LSU VS TULANE

I actually disagree with most folks on the scheduling. We should schedule one FBS team a year, every year! Why? Because we need wins to play in bowl games. If we win 6 games, including one FBS allowable win, we will be bowl bound. The standard for most sports is RPI, so we should NEVER schedule weak...

Re: Missing thread

What the Tulane coaching staffs haven't learned is the math behind RPI. If Tulane plays one series against the #1 team and one series against the #300 team, the most likely outcome is a 3-3 record against a #150 strength of schedule. Meanwhile, if we play two series, against the #150 and #151 teams ...

Dylan Osean has been on a couple Corona ads, and they seem to end with a toast to a female sitting to his side. Re: Syracuse game prediction

Our shooting is still not there - but a lot better than last year. Tarrant is our best pure shooter since Dylan "Corona Man" Osean. Syracuse is big, talented, deep and experienced. I think we'll play well, but even that could get us a 15-20 point loss.
