Re: NCAA We Have a Problem
Yes, I do believe that the day is coming quickly of major changes to the whole structure, with the NCAA coming apart, the SEC et al. breaking off, athetes winning their rights in court. As far as whether this academic year coming is somehow a make-or-break year for TU sports, I don't know. I do see...

Re: James Franklin on social media & recruiting
The facility issue is particularly pertinent regarding our almost total rebuild in Bball. The practice facility obviously helps but just about everyone has one in major D1 Bball. Devlin is an albatross that other coaches, especially AAC coaches, will use against Tulane. Yulman is fine right now, des...

Re: Trent Mackey Arrested, Tried, & NOT GUILTY!
Sounds like someone was less than honest on the stand. Or at the very least didn't have the authority to speak about those decisions. Strange to say the least. I can't imagine the coaches and the school could have already made a firm decision in favor even before the end of the trial. This person a...

Re: NCAA We Have a Problem
I'm just acknowledging the reality of things. The reason that schools offer athletics scholarships in football and men's bball is of course not to just have students come to campus and just quietly go about studying their sport just for the pure scholastic value of doing so. What it all is in reali...

Re: Trent Mackey Arrested, Tried, & NOT GUILTY!
This happened last year to Burl. http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/2012/05/tulane_football_player_lawrenc_1.html He was caught with marijuana and looked like he was dealing it too. That's much worse, gun and baggies. After Burl was arrested, did a team director say publicly that he would be welc...

Re: Trent Mackey Arrested, Tried, & NOT GUILTY!
The article seems strange as he mentions ULL as a possibility but there's no way he'll be able to transfer to an FBS school and be eligible immediately, even if the NCAA decides to grant a 6th year. Tammy should have known that. I really didn't expect him back anyway as I just don't see the NCAA gi...

The term "student-athlete" that some people seem to like to refer to mean something along the lines of the idealistic image of "regular student competing just for the love of sport" is actually something else. It's actually meant to be legal term identifying athletes as having a...

Re: Alex Facundus Transferring
What's the big loss? The last year he pitched he had a 1.98 era and would have been our best relief pitcher if he was healthy. I would say that is a pretty big loss, especially when you lose your entire weekend starting rotation. OK, let me ask you this. Since neither one of us know the full story,...

The latest....Yes or No? http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/2013/07/weigh_in_on_your_trent_mackey.html In regards to Tulane (not the NCAA) taking Mackey back, doesn't any conversation have to begin with the fact that the director of football operations testified under oath that he would be welcom...

Re: Trent Mackey Arrested, Tried, & NOT GUILTY!
Something is fishy about that whole message. I'd like to believe it, but I'm skeptical. For one thing, how would the guy know Trent passed all his drug tests? For another, why wouldn't the media, especially Tammy, bring out that his trial didn't mention weed? Conspiracy theory? Who knows. If this i...

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9491666/latest-developments-ncaa-electronic-arts-lawsuit-significantly-change-case I don't know where I stand on paying the athletes, but obviously the NCAA is a joke. Re: Trent Mackey Arrested, Tried, & NOT GUILTY!
The wave report, Tulane's Rivals site, has the scoop on Mackey's status. Really? I couldn't find anything other than a dated article outlining the not trial and guilty verdict. Here's something that people should read. This came to me via-email. This is not the entire email, but something I thought...

If we don't come in the top 3 of CUSA and NIT/NCAA I bet 100% hes gone. 1) I disagree unless we get a new AD. Not saying he may not be fired but it isn't even close to 100%. I can already hear the excuses and bullshit. We showed growth, we have a great recruiting group coming in, we recovered nicel...

Convincing your players they can win is different than calling your opponents weak, just my opinion. I did not like the quote but its just intraweb fodder.

Are you saying that we should deny families the opportunity to educate their children because it gives public universities an unfair athletic advantage? Like the attitude, don't like the coaches talking like that.... Tell you what: if you want to win, you got to get your guys to believe they can win. It may not be politically correct to say it out loud and in print, but you got to make your guys believe it is possible. It sounds like Coach has a be...

Well that did not come from the TP, I think it came from a blogger who was at the trial. Simple question, is there a transcript.winwave wrote:Like I said I read reports of the trial other than those in the T-P.

Re: Grant predicts more than six wins
Also, sounds like the low pre-season ranking has given them a chip on the shoulder. I'd say: use it wisely. "I didn't know we were picked sixth," Tulane senior receiver Ryan Grant said. "I'm not sure who these people are that are making the picks -- they could be 27, they could be 57...

TOPS is a joke on every level...TOPs is basically tied to LSU's admission standards and allows basically any incoming freshman to LSU to go to college tuition-free, paid for by the taxpayers. It should be for scholars...it isn't. TPS I agree, but you would have some major issues if you treated it d...

Well over the last few years, they have all been correct regarding our suckiness. With that said, I still see 7 wins, but though the schools on the schedule lack any name recognition, I think they are better than what many TU fans realize.Robert1969 wrote:Which preseason assessment had Tulane with 7 wins in 1997?
