Re: CJ, Staff...on the Hot seat

Hot seat?

We're talking about a university that retains and rewards an AD after TEN consecutive losing seasons in football.

B- is ridiculous. Even a C- is way too high. I'd call it a D.

Re: Yulman Stadium Review

Solid post jj.

While I would not call it a failure, the stadium is still a net negative in my mind as it diverts resources away from other aspects of the program. The on campus tailgating is nice, but does not really advance the program.

Re: Yulman Stadium Review

It's an OK facility IMO. Too small for real FBS football, but it is what it is. All the best seats are on the East side of the stadium. The sight lines on the west side are poor in my opinion. It's just built too low to the ground. The East side does look impressive even if there's no one sitting ov...

I'm knocking my tickets from 4 to 2. Unless they fire Dickson and Price.

Price maybe, but RD has a lifetime comp now.

The Big 12 is a pipedream. How could Tulane possibly compete with the likes of Colorado State and Memphis? Thank goodness we built a 23k seat stadium to secure our future.

Close game for 3.5 quarters until Tulane suffers critical turnover late.

Re: Get your questions ready

Chat was pretty much on the money from what I can tell:

-RD is entrenched now with the new facilities, conference, etc.
-No football staff changes. Sounds right given TU's expectations.
-2014 basically a learning year with young players.

Re: LSU spends 100+ Million in Engineering

Cowen killed engineering in order to cut costs. Everything the man did was penny wise and pound foolish. In the process he turned Tulane into a de facto women's liberal arts college with horrid athletics.

I'd rather not tailgate and win than tailgate and lose by 31 points.

The new stadium is just a distraction. The Dome was great when Tulane was winning or playing attractive opponents.

The best (read: worst) chat was after the 63-10 loss to UL Funroe when RD reminded fans to dye their hair for homecoming. Of course, there was no mention of the prior week's 'game'.

Eleven losing seasons in 12 years!!! Tremendous strides!!!

Houston isn't THAT good. They did manage to lose to UTSA. But Tulane can't score or kick or tackle:

Re: Does the Tulane Athletic Department have a mission state

I'm not arguing with you JJ. But with Tulane's track record, 7-8 wins/year is ambitious.

That said, I think it's deplorable that Tulane posted ten straight losing seasons (2003-2012) while in C-USA.

RD already doubled down on the current staff. And Tulane already doubled down on RD and his stadium plan.

Not going to happen anytime soon IMO.

Re: Does the Tulane Athletic Department have a mission state

Right. He did. He failed at the extremely modest goals that were set (frequent 7/8 win seasons). He was rewarded with a promotion. To be fair, consistent 7-8 win seasons are not modest goals for Tulane. But the point is well taken. Tulane's real athletic mission is to run programs at a minimum expe...

I for one will never forget the RD chat after the ULM 'game' in 2012 (63-10 loss!) when he was encouraging fans to dye their hair for homecoming. At that point, I was finished with Tulane.

Last year's 7-6 mark probably bought this coaching staff about 5 years in the RD playbook.
