Re: Greatest Tulane baseball player of all-time?

Micah Owings, despite only playing one year, took the team on his back to Omaha. They were a good team, but not a CWS team without him. Micah put them over the top, and delivered as promised. On the mound, at 1st base, and especially at the plate, Owings was da man! Was the 2001 team more of a comp...

Re: Greatest Tulane baseball player of all-time?

I'm biased but Michael Aubrey was the best player I played with at Tulane. I watched a lot of Micah Owings and I think he was clearly a better college pitcher than Mike was, but Mike was a much better hitter. I also think Owings gets the benefit of having only played one year at Tulane. He had a gre...

Re: 2014 Tulane Football Uniforms

After being reminded of the other Nike uniforms above, I have no problem with them now. I always did like Oregon's uniforms. They create buzz, bad or good. And players like flashy. Sounds silly, but that can be all you need to land a recruit these days. Yep, and I saw at least three high school pla...

Re: 2015 DT Brian Webb commits to Tulane

This one is not over. I think he showed a lot of character and class by coming to CJ before taking visits to other schools. It sounds like there is still a good relationship with the family and this one is salvageable. Long way to go.

The highlights were from his sophomore year. You can see Tanner Lee in some of them.

I am not sure the dead period applies to players who have already graduated but even if it does, we can still call prospects but cannot bring any in for visits.

Re: 2014 starting QB

I was one of Griffin's biggest critics going into his senior season and I can say without a doubt that we would've won 10 games with him at QB last year. He matured a lot his last year under Mike Neu. He got the ball out quickly and spread it around well despite a bad o-line and no running game. Loo...

Re: Football commit #5?

I like him a lot at FS. He's got really good instincts in coverage. Not sure about his long speed. He doesn't have great size, but he could grow into a 5'10, 190-200lb coverage safety.

Re: Why is Santos a second tier Saints Special Team Prospect

I've actually seen write ups where people ding Santos for being too small (sounds ridiculous, I know). Its not unusual for only 2 or 3 kickers to be drafted, but everyone is going to want some competition for their current kicker. If he goes undrafted, he'll have a chance to pick the team that he go...

Great athlete, mediocre QB. Wherever he ends up, he will end up playing another position eventually.

Re: 2014 starrting QB

It's definitely Lee's job to lose and I really don't think Montana is in the plans unless he improves dramatically over the summer.

Re: St Aug safety chooses La Tech

This may not be the most popular opinion, but I think it was a good decision not to offer Williams at this point. He's an in the box safety who is tight in the hips and hasn't been asked to do a lot in terms of coverage. Our safeties have to be versatile enough to cover a slot receiver or TE and pla...

Devin Glenn just committed. Kushner said he's committed as an ATH. I really think he ends up at corner.

Snug- those are generic highlights.

Here are his real highlights. He looks quick on his tape. My understanding is they offered him as an athlete and not necessarily a RB. May play corner.

Re: Another Blowout Tulane 49 Tulsa 70 CUSA Tournament

Tulsa went out and got a real basketball coach. He went out and signed a bunch of JUCO players. Instead of playing cupcakes in his first year, he played a difficult schedule and got the crap kicked out of him but the team responded this year and is much better than we are.

We've been hitting Warren Easton pretty hard. They have some really good players this year, especially Tyronn Johnson, Deshawn Capers-Smith, and Arthur McGinnis. Devin Glenn, Jeremie Francis and Darrell Clark are probably a step below but still really good.

Re: Football Defense: Switching from 4-3 to 3-4 formation

We ran a lot of multiple defenses last year especially against teams who ran a lot of spread. In the bowl game, we played a ton of 3 man fronts. Our base defense will probably still be 4-3 but we'll play a ton of 3-3-5 and 3-2-6.

To be fair, Bussey had not been rated at all by Rivals before this latest batch, so he was 0 stars. His Nebraska commitment helped him, I'm sure, but he didn't go from 3 stars to 4...he went from not rated to 4.

Juluke got him. Edinburgh is a real project. I know he was 4 stars out of high school, but that was only because he is 6'8 320. He's got a long way to go if he is ever going to play any meaningful snaps. He's going to sit out this coming year and have two years left.

I would imagine that was probably the case. You aren't allowed to wear white under your jersey as a pitcher (at the very least your sleeves cannot be visible). I learned that rule the hard way in when an umpire made me take off my undershirt in the middle of an inning. Most umpires will let you fini...

We're right in the middle of the pack in a terribly watered down league that lost Memphis, Houston, SMU and Central Florida. That is not progress as much as it is addition by subtraction. We have a couple of talented players on the team but really only 1 or 2 that wouldn't be bench players on a dece...

Re: Problem with Turchin Lighting?

I feel bad for the new players. Opening night should be a great experience that they will never forget. Night game, good crowd. I got to my first game like 6 hours early and tried on my uniform because I was so excited. There were 2,500 people there to watch us play a mediocre team just because it w...
