Re: NFL Chargers will move to a "high school" stadium. How can that be?

Thank God for the citizens of San DIego who had the good sense to tell the NFL to pack sand. If only the population of South Louisiana had the ability to tell the Saints to hit the pike for San Antonio or LA, Tulane football would be in a much stronger position and the population of Louisiana wouldn...

Re: Football Recruiting 2017

It's just the sign of the times. Recruits love the attention they get on social media. Even after they sign their LOI, there's so many that look to transfer. It's an epidemic in college athletics. Commitment means nothing these days. Coaches can leave at any time without penalty but the rules try t...

Re: Tulane to play @ Oklahoma Sooners in 2017

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon has declared for the 2017 NFL Draft, according to The Oklahoman and Adam Schefter of ESPN. The redshirt sophomore will forego his final two years of eligibility with the Sooners to move on to the pros. Mixon rushed for 1,274 yards and 10 touchdowns on 187 carries in ...

Re: Football Recruiting 2017

You don't take into consideration the difference in the level of competition the opponents in 98 had versus those in 13. The 98 team would have killed the 13 team. Try as you might you can't detract from the greatness of that team. What was "great" about that '98 team was Rich Rodriguez m...

A running back or two who actually make an effort to pick up a penetrating defender would be nice.

Re: Football Recruiting 2017

Why didn't Mr. Wonderful,(aka, Scott Cowen) have the good sense of initially introducing a stadium plan on this scale.
He would have had no problem settling with the Nimby's on his terms.

Re: Football Recruiting 2017

It all depends on our QB. If QB play mirrors this year, golfnut is right, we're a 3-4 win team. If QB play is drastically improved we could get to 6 or maybe 7 wins. We left a whole lot on the table, and put our D in bad positions simply because our QB couldn't run the option, had lead feet, and co...

Re: Players transferring out - Football

It' bothers me that Fritz is purging the roster of local kids and is almost exclusively signing out of state kids. I'm not so sure the very few LA commits is intentional, or for lack of effort. This staff has taken the slow train to get to where they are by letting their performance speak for them....

Are they making money? Perhaps the best thing that can happen to the vendors is to be sent packing.

Re: Football Recruiting 2017

Rivals list woefully short of front 7 recruits. For 30 years I have determined the success or failure of a recruiting cycle by the front 7 players signed. The reason Tulane has been unsuccessful on the field in most years has been weakness on the defensive front. That's what made the last few years...

Re: SAME OLD SAME OLD TULANE?

Years back Tricky Rick Dickson said we were joined at the hip with TCU. Then everything the Administration did proved we were not. I think there's a great example of how to lift ourselves out of the Athletics Wasteland with our conference mate, Temple. Temple had a football team with a recent histo...

Great Hire

Great hire by Ed Orgeron! OC, Matt Canada has been able to adapt his schemes around his talent wherever he's been. He's run pure pro schemes and R/O spread schemes while often combining a read option element within a pro scheme. With hires like this, it is unlikely Bebe will be out of a job anytime ...

I get the P5 thing. I think the point wave97 was making is why Baylor over Oregon. And yes, multiple reports said he turned down Oregon. So it can't be P5 status that drew him to Baylor. I agree with you that he figures he can recruit in Texas despite his connections. And, maybe his wife wasn't int...

We need to coach our young cornerbacks to effectively play bump & run and we need a freak-of-nature d-lineman for our defense to improve. We were very lucky that Tanzel's talent flew under the radar, I hope that there is another Tanzel out there somewhere. It shouldn't be very hard to find a lin...

It looks like Strong to USF. http://www.kvue.com/mb/news/local/usf-nearing-deal-to-make-charlie-strong-next-head-coach/366762218 I really hope someone in this conference hires Riley, but that seems increasingly unlikely.
