Re: Yulman Stadium (Benson Field)
EXACTLY RIGHT MBA. We're not going back to the Dome full time in my lifetime. And we're both arguing with a person that just loves to stir the pot with his same old bashing of a facility and gameday experience he's never been a part of. FYI if we have to go back to the Dome for ANY number of games ...

Re: Wave wins over USL in a thriller 41-39
I actually agree with you 100% that Tulane needs to look beyond students and alums to fill the stands. However it's a stretch to dismiss the Duke analogy. They win in basketball. That's why the students care but the point is they do care. At Tulane sadly they don't (but that can change.) So I guess...

Re: Yulman Stadium (Benson Field)
Football is entertainment. The financial juggling of a university athletics budget is not. I'm here for the entertainment. OK I would think the football program's facilities strategy might be of relevance to football but that's just me. There are other topics to post in not titled "Yulman Stad...

Re: Yulman Stadium (Benson Field)
Most of all, any current issues have a lot more to do with the hiring of CJ over anything else. Only RD claimed Yulman was going to be a huge solution to our problems. The gameday atmosphere remains much better, that has not been disputed by anyone who regularly attends games. Have a night. 1) I th...

Re: Yulman Stadium (Benson Field)
You are trying to make this another rant about Cowdick and their failures. You deem this stadium as a failure, but what do you expect Mike Fitts and Troy Dannen to do about it? They are in charge now. They inherited the facility (and accepted the jobs knowing it was there). If you were Troy Dannen,...

Anyone arguing butts in seats isnt up from the dome nasnt been to a game in both (aka JJ). 100x more students even if half leave early. Remember the days where <20 came?! I do. JJ the more you bash the stadium having never been to it the more I skip your posts. Dead on accurate. There's more than t...

Re: Big XII Expansion
I think he only means in reference to competing with the SEC as far as recruits. Given comparable monies, I'd have to think Tulane, Memphis, UCF and USF all have far more upside than ISU, KU or KSU. Fair enough. But I'm willing to bet NATIONALLY the Big 12 would draw better ratings than a conferenc...

students cause and attract attention beyond all proportion to their size. That's why it's worth the extra effort get them from the "Cameron Crazies" to whoever. Brief anecdote: I had a foreign business professional go to his first college football game. He knew nothing about the game. How...

Re: Big XII Expansion
I agree with D on this one. It seems like there is a disconnect between some of the points of view here - it seems like some posters are comparing what Tulane and some other members of the AAC "could' be one day to what OSU and other members of the Big 12 "are" right now. That's righ...

Re: Big XII Expansion
Going to a P6 wouldn't be that traumatic, given that's what we use to have. Also a P6 might create the impetus to go to an eight team playoff. Lastly, I don't think either UT or OU want to go into another P conference because they would have a much harder path to national championships. They have m...

Re: Wave wins over USL in a thriller 41-39
This isn't as complicated as people are making it seem. If Tulane football games were "the place to be", they'd be there. It's up to the university to make Tulane games "the place to be", mix in the school spirit, and the rest is supply and demand. There was some thought that Yul...

Re: Yulman Stadium (Benson Field)
Given that we just honored Rick Dickson Friday night it looks more and more like the results are in an Yulman Stadium is a failure. Yulman was supposed to create a game day experience that was lacking at the Dome, increasing attendance, but attendance seems unchanged from the same few thousand we h...

Re: Yulman Stadium (Benson Field)
I've been on both sides of this argument. The buzz wore off because we didn't win and have been terrible the last two seasons. Not just terrible, but the kind of terrible that makes you want to throw things onto the field. I know a group of guys who are around my age that were a mix of Uptown guys ...

Re: ULL GameDay Thread
Alot of ULL fans there but again to say it was half is defensible but I think it's a stretch. No science other than ULL doesn't travel that well. Just my view. As concerns the students. They come for first half because University shuts down all student tailgating functions one-half hour before the ...

Re: ULL GameDay Thread
Just to note: Wake Forest is now 4-0 after beating 2-1 Indiana on the road. Everybody was saying how bad Wake was after we lost to them narrowly to start the season. But that loss is looking much better now. Tulane's two losses are to teams that are a combined 7-0. Last week ULL averaged 10 yards a...
