Re: Why can’t a men’s bball coach succeed at Tulane ?

We have a new coach, and an administration that was not afraid to make what was an obviously needed change. I don't want to talk about why we cannot be a good basketball program because I think we can. Bad coaching hires, and lack of accountability, coupled with an administration that didn't care ab...

Re: How Will AAC Fare in Tourney

R J Barrett fouled on the play they gave Williamson free throws on . I am no fan of UCF but that call was designed to keep Duke in the tourney By putting a 67% FT shooter on the line in the waning moments of the game? He misses, UCF ball with the lead, probably game over. Yet another BRILLIANT post...

Re: How Will AAC Fare in Tourney

UCF loses a heartbreaker to Duke 77-76. Hell of a game. As usual, Duke gets all the calls. UCF put up a valiant effort—should have won. Re: Ron Hunter

Not a Coach that will keep current players from leaving, small time with lower academic type athletes, only time will tell if he can motivate the very good student athletes Tulane demands. Not sure if will keep current recruits Dunleavy was recruiting. I might be a minority but wish we could have g...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

I’m satisfied with the hire. I think he’s earned the right unlike the previous coaches. No doubt about it man. Sometimes folks around here forget who we are. This job is not as attractive has many around here believe. Why? 1. The ability to recruit basketball players who can spell "Tulane Univ...

Re: Ron Hunter

Coach Hunter will be successful at Tulane, y'all just need to get behind him and show him some support. He took a team that went 12-19 before he got to GSU and went 22-11 in his first year. He went to the NCAAs 3 years out of 5, and was a great recruiter at what is a VERY hard place to recruit to. ...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

You guys are so wrong about Hunter, wow. He hasn't even been hired yet, but man y'all are miserable. I'm not blown away, but I think he's a solid choice and will give him two years to show me the program is in the right hands. That doesn't mean going to the tourney in two years (though I would love...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

I think Hunter would be excellent! I think Kennedy would be excellent! Anytime we can get a proven winner we need to snag it. Perry was great, I really can't think of any other coach that was above average. Maybe Ned Fowler had a shot, but we all know what happened there. I really thought Roy Danfo...

Houston drummed Hunter 84 - 55 on a neutral court .

It would appear Hunter has not recruited up to what it is going to take to be respectable in the AAC , let alone dominant .
Another brilliant post!

Re: Ron Hunter Hire is Official

We need to consolidate at least two, possibly three threads about this hire. Ron Hunter will be able to recruit to the same standards as any coach in D1. We have jock friendly majors, and no longer have academic restrictions that we had for decades. As winwave points out regularly, people need to mo...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

About the only good that can be said is that if Hunter is hired he will already be used to being THIRD FIDDLE IN BASKETBALL That being said means that DANNEN IS ACCEPTING , OR AT LEAST NOT CHALLENGING, our third fiddle status . That being said , if Hunter is truly being heavily recruited by Dannen ...

Re: How Will AAC Fare in Tourney

I hope Dan Hurley succeeds at UConn if nothing else it will be good for the conference. However, this notion that UConn has a history of dominance in basketball I just don't buy. In 1987, I sat in a Quonset hut (that was much smaller than my high school gym), to watch UConn play Georgetown in Storr...

Re: How Will AAC Fare in Tourney

I don’t see BC wanting UConn back. It would only hurt them adding a potential regional rival having to recruit against them. UConn was in a much better position years ago to get in compared to now. They haven’t been competitive in either major sport for a few years now. FSU definitely won’t allow U...

Re: How Will AAC Fare in Tourney

Doesn't matter how bad they want out. They aren't going anywhere. They won that NC based on the talent from when they were still in the BE. They won't win another one. They're head and shoulders above any other AAC team for an ACC expansion. Not. First off as I have posted several times there will ...

Re: How Will AAC Fare in Tourney

However, the truth is, the conference goes as football goes. Basketball doesn't move the needle. Its nice to say AAC has won some MBB and WBB national championships, but at the end of the day, that really has no impact. The AAC's new contract now pays us almost double what the Big East gets. AAC go...
