Re: Nicholls St. GameDay Thread
Don't they have the Manning Passing Academy there every year. I remember that tree from the camera shots from that event.

This is terrible news. He recruited most of the 1998 undefeated Greenies. Classy gentleman.

Re: Tulane loses to Ole Miss 37-20
Still struggling with it, here's why. If we won, we would've had a great shot at going undefeated. We'd be top 20 after week 2, and running the table would've meant being top 5-7 at season's end, putting real pressure on the CFP. This year. That's what it meant, and in no way is pie in the sky think...

Re: SMU to the ACC/PAC-12 discussions
Why doesn't their endowment tower over ours if that's the case. We have the same level athletic program as theirs up to this moment, and the comparative endowments tell you we have the same access to wealth. We therefore absolutely can do this, we lack the institutional will.

Re: SMU to the ACC/PAC-12 discussions
Tulane has a larger endowment than SMU, with several uber wealthy alumni. Our academic campus facilities (not athletics) are much better than SMU; I stayed right across from SMU's campus for the Cotton Bowl and got a first hand current look. These things provide all the evidence you need that can if...

Re: Replacement for SMU?
Can't agree on the negative sentiment about Army. They attract a lot of TV viewers, double the size of Tulane's decent audience, have a national following, and are a tradition laden historic major college program vs a directional state U. With Army & Navy, it doesn't matter if tgey struggle to c...

Re: Tulane among a number of schools filing to join the imploding PAC-12
I can't fully agree with the points raised above, with all due respect. My understanding is TV networks have now moved past pure market size and to the far more accurate metric of TV viewership a program delivers. Tulane has delivered far more eyeballs than SMU, not just last year but over the last ...

Re: Tulane among a number of schools filing to join the imploding PAC-12
While SMU is buying their way out of the stink of the new CUSAAC, not a peep about or from Tulane concerning attempts to do the same. This despite a larger endowment and athletic success head & shoulders above SMU. Lack of leadership & initiative is very disappointing.

Re: ACC looks at Stanford/Cal
If their compensation isn't heavily incentive based then you can rest assured they aren't busting ass at full throttle to raise money. In my career I observed hundreds of well paid professionals who excelled at looking super busy without actually doing a whole lot that was of substance. I've met a f...

Re: SEC wants change in CFP wants more at large spots
That rule does not give an autobid to the champ of the PAC 12 or any particular conference. They have to finish ranked as one of the top 6 ranked conference champs. If hypothetically the champs of the AAC & MWC both finish ahead of a Big 12 champion, then both the AAC & MWC champs get an aut...

Re: Tulane among a number of schools filing to join the imploding PAC-12
I'd prefer a best of the rest option to a PAC 4 / AAC combination, and I'd imagine the PAC 4 would as well. I can't imagine selling them on being in a conference with North Texas, FAU, Charlotte & UTSA. I remind everyone that beyond 2023 there is no such thing as P5 / A5 in terms of playoff acce...

It was Kenny Loggins, followed by Foreigner (a brand new band with one album out at the time), followed by Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, followed by Fleetwood Mac, who was touring for the Rumors album. Fabulous day.

Re: Tulane allegedly a frontrunner for PAC 12
I cringe at even having to present these arguments. As a PAC 12 member, you're talking about 4 OOC games, 4 home games. That leaves 4 road games, not all on the west coast (SMU, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona St). In basketball, same principle, with the ability to bunch road games into single trips. Sam...

Re: Tulane allegedly a frontrunner for PAC 12
If any Tulane AD casts doubt on accepting a PAC invite vs staying in today's AAC, it's time for pitchforks & torches at the gate. I don’t take saying that lightly; deciding we're better off with North Texas, UTSA, UAB & Charlotte instead of Stanford, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah & ...

Only 2 bad OOC losses(WKU & George Mason, normally good programs)- Nevada has 34 NET, Fordham is 18-4. The bad loss really is Tulsa, just a miserable off night.

Those rankings prove we're as good an option as anyone left on the board, that's all we have to be. On top of that, we are an AAU school, we operate in a recruiting hotbed, and we are in a top 50 TV market. I think we're in pretty good shape now that the football program is ranked.

Re: BIGGEST WIN IN TULANE FOOTBALL HISTORY!!
I was at the 1973 LSU game, it was an extraordinary charged emotional night for a bitter rivalry. But in terms of significance to this program, vaulting Tulane football to a completely different level, winning over a near-miss playoff team QB'd by the (very deserving) Heisman winner who set a Cotton...
