Re: Syracuse game

Does the #1 team in the country need the refs as their allies? Really. There were some horrible calls when it still mattered. A no call on a goal tend. A phantom off tulane fingertip on a bad Cuse pass. That's life on the road against a beast. They would've gutted us anyway. We might even win a goo...

Re: Tailgating

Look at gameday as an 10-12 hour event. The game is a small part of the day. When you look at it that way, it's not out of the box to think of tailgating along st.charles in the park over by Loyola. I know, its a 25 minute walk to the stadium, but its not that bad and people walk further in other pl...

Rwr, how u figure baseball team is winning. They are the 2nd worst program is cusa right now and struggle to qualify for the conference tourney. Whatever the record, that's not winning baseball at tulane.

Re: PARKING ... PARKING ... PARKING (and badly needed)

There's not a parking problem. I walked 2 miles to tiger stadium more than once. Its called college football. This is what happens at college football games. You don't drive up to your gate and hand them your ticket while you lock your doors. You don't park in a known illegal area because its across...

Re: Breaking News on the Big East taking CUSA teams

I say let them go to the Big East. They will be crawling back soon enough when the Big East implodes. What a joke them traveling 1800 miles for a baseball game or track meet or better yet tennis or golf. Good ridens.....SMU, when June Jones leaves will be a bigger laugh..same with Houston. They hav...

Crazy as it sounds, hey, go for it with trooper. Imagine the press conference. Even crazier? Offer Shaun qb coach/oc. At this point with the way the search has gone. Why the hell not?

I would actually be comfortable with Frankie. I'm sure he plans on riding SCC into retirement, though. Very, very good football coach. Think his tulane bridge is burned after his tour on the buddy system, though.

Re: Coaching Candidates (All Encompassing)

Ya know exile, I think the point is the word "good". No we are not a breeding ground for good coaches. But the point I think he was making is that GOOD coaches have success here. No coach that lost at tulane went on to win elsewhere. (That's a gsx from yogwf quote) tulane just doesn't make good hire...

Re: Coaching Candidates/Mike Leach Merged

Monken is probably a result of the search firm they are using. He must match the criteria that was set forth. I would pay Monken an incentive laden contract and hire Mike Stoops for DC at $1 million per. That would show me commitment. Get a Big Time DC in here. Looks like he's building up some juic...

Re: Coaching Candidates/Mike Leach Merged

The pirate has to want the job, Robert. Its not a 1 way street. He's just not coming i'll. Meanwhile, The oc for a very exciting offense at a top 10 school whose 45 and looks and acts the part is intriguing. If ole miss is interested, so should we be. He looks like a solid candidate. How many guys ...

Re: Coaching Candidates/Mike Leach Merged

I don't get the excitement over Monken. He is OC at a school where the Head Coach Gundy runs the offense- and it his first year. He does have an offense background- as a WR and QB coach. But head coaching material? I don't know. I am still waiting for the candidates beside RR and ML that make nm sa...

Re: Coaching Candidates/Mike Leach Merged

This probably puts the leach thing to bed. I think SC had his eyes opened and was humbled a bit by this search. Good. ML and RR command, the $$$, but its not about the $$ with these guys. Tulane needs them, they don't need tulane. I could get behind Monken. Everything is right about him. And ok st d...

Re: Navy game - Road Win for Basketball, 57-55!

In basketball a road win of any sort is nothing to sneeze at. I've always thought winning on the road in basketball is tougher than any other sport. Crowd on top of you, officials easily influenced, etc.etc. No such thing as an ugly road win. Agreed this is on the road. Worse teams than navy beat b...

Looks like the OSU beat reporter really doesnt want Monken to go and he goes on to say some pretty awful things about Tulane. @Billhaisten tweets Yeah, Tulane has a big stadium. A big, empty stadium. I'm not sure that Union High School's athletic budget doesn't exceed Tulane's. Houston, you can rec...

Monken is acceptable if we cant get Leach, IMO. We should offer ML the same package we offerred RR now. If ML rejects the offer, then we move on. In all honesty, with the type of money we are offerring this time around, we should be able to attract a very successful, and proven HC.....The main prob...

Re: Coaching Candidates/Mike Leach Merged

Greeniemeanie, mediocrity would be a major improvement to what we have now. You could always take a ride to the keys, club ML over the head and drag him down to the Wilson center. If that don't work who is next on your list? Saben ? Billichek? Payton? Those guys have pretty good jobs. Seriously, the...
