Re: UCSB Series

Well I think that advise paid off. Give him a chance to coach "his" players. He is coaching a team that was conference champions last year. He's coaching a team that went fairly deep into the regionals last year. I could tolerate a slight step back while he brought in his type of players....

Re: UCSB Series

I could be pulling this out of my ass, but my thought is, if he would be interested, bring back Rick Jones to try turn this around, if he's successful and wants to stay, let him stay, and if he doesn't want to stay, and wants to go back into retirement let him pick his successor. Now if he's success...

Re: UCSB Series

Jewett's got to go. This is unacceptable. I am not through with Dannen yet, because I believe that Fritz is going to come through in football, and I am not over Dunleavy yet. But in baseball, this is completely unacceptable. Dannen fucked up with Jewett. He needs to fix it pronto.

Re: WBB vs UConn

When you are playing a team that is in the midst of a 100 game win streak, and who almost always wins by gaudy margins, I will make an exception and say, yeah, a 63-60 loss to U Conn is a moral victory.

I can't find any confirmation of the football operations facility mentioned in this thread. When will we hear official word?

Re: Any Led Zeppelin fans here?

Robert, not particularly fond of using vulgarity when the English language has so many alternatives. Just thought you might have been a little high, but I'm an older fart. Vulgarity for vulgarity's sake is never acceptable. But sometimes, the right curse word in the right context can give a line a ...

Re: Any Led Zeppelin fans here?

No. My dad worked off shore for oil companies, and the oil recession hit, and he was laid off, and I was having trouble getting a damned job, so I didn't have the money to see the Outrider tour. Tough break there. Well, it was a tough break. But if it weren't for the oil recession, I may never have...

Any Led Zeppelin fans here?

Well, I wrote this Jimmy Page inspired poem, what do you think? Jimmy Page Lover Your contradictions: Jimmy Page bowing a guitar. You curl your index finger, I meekly follow. I can't quit you; I willfully suffer what is in store. When I fell for you I fated my sickly sorrow: murder my lust; leave me...

Re: Imagining an expanded American Conference

Sorry to say but the best way to upgrade the strength of the AAC (in terms of football/basketball) is to contract rather than expand. Simply kicking out Tulane would probably do more than expanding with any of the teams mentioned. I guess the Catholic schools in the Big East were right after all. S...

Re: Imagining an expanded American Conference

I don't think you can count out Mountain West conference teams. In the long run, the Mountain West won't be as valuable for media rights as the American Conference. The American has more exposure than the MWC. Except for fluke runs like W Michigan this year, the dominant conference for New Years Day...

So Frazier blamed the players saying that they weren't doing what the coaches were telling them. I wonder if maybe, the problem is less that Dunleavy is a Bob Toledo type burnout, and more that, as a pro cosch with no college experience, that he's talking above their heads? I guess, kind of like a ...
