Re: Official Final Ranking of this years Recruiting from Riv

I don't understand how people discount rivals when often their recruiting rankings mirror exactly how the teams finish during the season. It's fairly obvious from a talent standpoint that we're bottom 1/3 of CUSA and that's where we consistently get ranked recruiting wise. I don't understand why peo...

Re: Good memories

That's the thing though, the investment is not some astronomical figure. We're talking about allowing our coaches to recruit on equal ground with everyone which costs nothing. The costs as I see them are creating an infrastructure to support these kids academically once they get in, building an indo...

Re: Good memories

He actually set the national receiving yardage record for a career that game. Jones is still my favorite Tulane player ever till this day. If you look at that schedule from 87 I believe we went 3-1 against the SEC. We beat Vandy, Ole Miss, Ms. St, and lost to #5 LSu 41-36. My how our expectations ha...

Seems to me the same teams that are in the top 25 in recruiting every year are in the Top 25 during the season as well. I actually put alot more faith in the star rankings as a whole because quite frankly its pretty accurate. For every 1 they miss on they get 15 right. On Yogwf every recruit is unde...

Re: Rick Dickson letter -- for the board's info . . .

If our goal is to win 6 games and COMPETE in our DIVISION, not our goddamn conference our division, we should pack it up and call it a day. How does he have the balls to list those as our goals. Even his B.S. is mediocre. Our goals should be no less than to win the conference and 10 games. If you fa...

He just doesn't get it and never will. I went to LSU from 2001-2005 right when LSU football blew up. LSU applications went through the roof because everyone wanted to be in Baton Rouge for football season. What did that do? It increased the quantity of people applying which alllowed LSU to not only ...

I like how the statement leads us to believe that the school is actually going to spend time discussing locations for a Victory Bell. Talk about wasting time on stupidity. How hard is it to say, "The Victory Bell stays in front of Fogleman for good." That was quick. Next order of business, "Winning ...

Re: Does anybody know if . . . .

No SEC will ever go independent unless its Vandy. Ohio St. will never go independent. Texas is the only school that might go independent eventually because they can support themselves and likely thrive playing a national schedule. If our decision comes to the point where we're either going to be in ...

Re: Busing

I don't think it's that big of a deal or has any real effect on how the team plays as evidenced by the win, but I think it's in line with the way this department does things. They would rather save $2K and do something 2nd rate. It just always we're cutting even the smallest corners. Busing the bask...

Re: Tulane 85 - Rice 81

Everything I've read about Conroy since he got hired makes me think Dickson finally made a good hire. I actually don't have a problem with the bad schedule "this year" because I think this program needed a chance to get off the ground without a 10 win season in the Coach's 1st. 11-3 and 1-0 is a goo...

Most of us hate YOGWF because we've seen what it has done to the fanbase. Speaking in my own case I was "banned for life" for simply stating that Scelfo didn't have the team ready to play for the Houston game in 2006 I believe, a game in which we lost by 40 or so and a game in which several people I...

Re: Lost him once, lets not again. Bring back Coach Rod.

What's sad is you know that if we win 6 games Dickson will consider the season a success. The bar is so low here that .500 in football in a terrible conference will be considered a success by the administration. If you guaranteed Dickson that Toledo wins 7 games next year he'd sign him to a lenghty ...

They can't be saving more than 2K. Houston is 6 hours away not including traffic by bus, it's 45 minutes by plane. They can't be saving more than $2K. I played Basketball at Brother Martin and we played a tourney in Atlanta which is 7 hours by bus and busing was not even discussed or considered. If ...

If major Tulane alums are turned off how do you think non-Tulane alums who grew up die-hard Tulane fans feel? It's not optimistic to just hope something happens when all signs point in a different direction and nothing is being done to obtain these optimistic goals. Any Tulane fan who shows any support for Scott Cowen whatsoever supports the end of the football program whether they realize it or not. He should've been run out of town in 2003.

Re: Supporting College Athletics versus Professional

The best thing the State can do is not allow us to play in the Dome unless we get serious. We'd either have to get serious or quit which is exactly what needs to happen. Although I don't think we can sell out Jefferson Playground at this point.

Re: What is a Realistic Expectation for Tulane Football ?

Under the current model I don't believe Tulane will have a football team in 10 years. If the University put forth actual effort to win I would expect 8-12 wins every year in the conference we are in. I would say drawing consistently 35-40 with 1 or 2 games a year over 55K. If we cared enough to try ...

I don't see how saying that Rich Rodriguez wouldn't come back is being negative. It's not like if West Monroe beats a Class C team by 90, two teams from two similar conferences in stature and both teams offer scholarships. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd like to shoot higher than a 25K stadium and a program on par with USM. We have more potential than any CUSA program with the exception of UCF. It's so frustrating to watch people think on such a small scale because it's exactly what Cowen wants. We can't grow a fanbase playi...

It's Utah, Boise St. has moved from WAC to Mountain West. A better example might be TCU who has moved from CUSA to Mountain West to Big East and BCS. I own a bar and I know alot of other bar and restaurant owners. LSU home games are not good for the New Orleans hospitality industry. LSU away games are good, but for the most part alot of New Orleanians head to B.R. for LSU home games, myself included once or twice a year. Most of your 20-30 yr old...

Re: TAF Donations Down

Why would Rich Rodriguez accept an Asst. Coaching job here when we already screwed him once when he was OC? Why would a guy who is the head coach at Michigan take an asst. coaching job at a CUSA bottom feeder that totally humiliated him in public?
