Re: Tammy Stadium
FWIW Tammy just confirmed that the stadium is going to be 25K in seats and 5K in suites which is exactly what someone told me months ago and exactly what 1 or 2 posters on here have disputed. So in essence we're still getting the 25K stadium we all dread. Two things: 1) every school counts their su...

Re: Coaching Candidates
I appreciate your logic on "re-tread" coaches. I think it makes a lot of sense. If we were talking abou hiring a Bob Davie or Glen Mason or Phil Fulmer I'd be inclined to agree with you. No thanks. Hell, I was very against the idea of hiring Tommy Bowden for that reason. But I just don't t...

Re: Coaching Candidates
I have been looking around for info on the searches that Arizona, Ole Miss, and others have conducted. I think we assume that RR is the hottest commodity in coaching and that we have to beat these schools to the punch. He's not. The names that schools in this range are looking at are Sumlin, Fedora,...

Re: On-Campus Stadium
You guys are really over thinking this Benson angle. Tulane made the decision to move out of the dome. That decision was made almost two years ago. Benson isn't kicking anyone out. It wasn't something he was going to stop. Once we reached critical mass in fundraising, it really wasn't up to him. In ...

Re: On-Campus Stadium
Tulane in the Big 12 would doubtful average more than 45k a game. We're still a small school. TCU is roughly similar in size and in a much larger metro area and their stadium will be 50k. Is 5k that big of a difference? And those families that supported Tulane so long ago no longer live in New Orlea...

Re: On-Campus Stadium
So now we are back to being excited about a 30K capacity stadium? Two weeks ago everyone said it was unnecessary when we thought the Big 12 was imminent. Does this "announcement" say that the Big 12 is YEARS away from possible, or not at all? Mack Brown may not have long at Texas, so our ...

Re: Coaching Candidates
Looks like New Mexico is going to hire Glen Mason (former Kansas, former Minnesota head coach). He's 60. I can only imagine the outcry if that had been our announcement. Like hiring Bob Toledo part deux: Toledeux I think that it is uncumbent on us to hire someone younger than 50, given the state of ...

Semi OT - Elijah Robinson
Steve and Bob, put this wherever you want -- I'm just passing it along as an item of general Tulane football interest. Elijah Robinson, who was a Tulane football signee from Camden, NJ in 2003 that never qualified academically and ended up being released after a few weeks on campus, is on the Penn S...

Re: Coaching Candidates
To drive a nail into this Philbin thing, Schefter said apparently that we had contacted him at some point. Not that we contacted him today, or yesterday, or anything like that. We also apparently "inquired" about lots of other coaches, including three MAC coaches, two Saints assistants, e...

Re: Coaching Candidates
I agree that it would be negligent to stop looking and we can't make Rich say yes. However, what about Philbin says that he is a good candidate? He has very little D1 coaching experience. No ties to the South other than 2 years spent at Tulane as a GA in the mid 80s. He's the offensive coordinator ...

Re: Coaching Candidates
We can't MAKE him say yes, you know. I know, but there's nothing about RD and SC's history that would make me believe that we would do everything he wanted to come here. I really believe RR wants to come here, because he knows the fans love him. But if he can't recruit the same athletes as his conf...

Re: Coaching Candidates
Did they even say when we asked for permission? Was it this week or last? In all honesty, it'd be negligent to stop working on Plan C while RR flirts with Ole Miss or whatever. Do you assume that we are not doing everything we can to get RR? Because that is the only way reason that I can imagine hea...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
Umm... We did? Where? In the "November 28th" post? That's just an informed guess, the same as the rest of us. That's how I read it. Maybe you have too much faith in social media. We'll "know" somethig when Tulane announces it or shortly beforehand when we get white smoke from the...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
Taking a step back amidst all the chaos at the micro level, it makes sense to look at all that's happening or has happened at the macro level. These are all well-established or well-reported facts. 1) Tulane took the unprecedented step of firing a coach in the middle of the season. I mentioned the T...

Re: **official Twitter responses to anything anti-TU**
Nov. 14 mark ennis (big east reporter) Makes no sense. RT @fbrumormill: Sources tell FRM that former Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez is strongly weighing the Tulane job. my response: @Mengus22 just shut up and report about your "big least" conference. I really don't get this response by thi...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
No one knows if the rumored meeting on campus thursday took place. No one in the media got him on film or photo. Strictlyy rumor. I hope it happened but I think people are willingly accepting it as fact b/c they want RR so bad. Scott Kushner has reported it and has heard it from multiple sources, a...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
I think the silence on all other candidates is great........as long as we dont hear of anymore interviews I think we are set... I wouldn't put that much concern into hearing about other interviews. If you identify your guy and let him know that you're extremely interested in him, you can give him a...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
I get it, you were hoping to hear Scott tell us that RR was signed and sealed and that we were just waiting to announce it. Sorry you're disappointed, but you have to realize that there's no way you were going to hear that from him at this time. There's one thing that we know which approaches fact:...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
It has been eerily quiet. Scott, we need something.... Not sure that you're going to get an answer from Scott on this. The cone of silence is fully extended at this point, and has been since Friday... which may mean something good and it may mean something bad, but it almost certainly means somethi...

Re: TIME FOR S SLATTEN UPDATE!! PLEASE
Tulane hasn't actually DONE anything yet, except for throwing yet another coach under the bus, just as they have done before. True, firing the coach and appointing an interim coach in mid-season was something totally new. And I haven't yet seen how acting so quickly has really accomplished very muc...

Re: Kaare Johnson reporting Tulane has the funding in hand
Did you expect him to confirm? Kaare said the announcement will come next month. There's no way Dickson is going to announce it before that announcement. There are probably other decisions that need to be made, and other conversations that need to happen. By the way, Dickson did not deny the essence...

Re: Kaare Johnson reporting Tulane has the funding in hand
Also, Tulane will not sell bonds. The plan has always been to go public once it reached $40 million raised. The fans then need to come up w/the other $20 million. http://tulane.edu/news/releases/archive/1997/tulane_gets_an_a.cfm Tulane typically floats general obligation bonds to fund major constru...
