Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

I'm no expert. But it seems to me he got hurt on a clean play by a player that's not as big as most NBA players , fighting through a pick. Another year of growth and filling out his body to his frame would do him well . As I've said elsewhere in this thread, I think the smart route would be to NOT ...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

It's been 20 years since a Tulane basketball player had any sort of draft buzz. Jerald Honeycutt would've been a surefire lottery pick today being a stretch 4 that can shoot 3s. He would've been a 1-and-done player. Frazier should do well in predraft camps and individual workouts. He's a great athl...

Re: 2018 Schedule

Damn 3 non Saturday games. That’s no good. Can you say attendance killer . Thank you very much for mentioning that. Two of those 'non-Sat' games are at home. It is very difficult for me to attend any FB game that does not occur on Saturday. I have too far to drive in. The TV people just dictate pol...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Boy, I’m an old guy in my sixties and it would shock the heck out of me to see a player his size without a jump shot go in round one. I know the stats show he has improved as a shooter but he has to be wide open to shoot decently which he is against bad defenses. His stats sort of remind me of Tim ...

Re: Tulane escapes ECU 71-69

For the big picture: Last year we were 3-15 in conference. This year we are 4-5 in conference with 9 conference games left to go . Thank you for a voice of sanity. If you told me before the season started that we had a shot at 9-9 or even 8-10 in conference, I would have signed on in a heartbeat. T...

Re: UCF

ANY university which has had an UNDEFEATED season since Tulane's 1998 season should claim a national championship, period. Hang all the banners that you wish as far as I am concerned. Aggravate the NCAA mercilessly and let them know that the playoff system has not improved anything. There was a tim...

Re: Quick look ahead to 2018

4 wins in 2016, 5 wins in 2017, so 6 wins in 2018 (a natural progression, 4-4 in AAC). Tulane gets to a bowl game, but loses it. Will the TU fans be satisfied with 3 losing Fritz seasons? Hmmm, . . . , one must wonder about that. Do you really extend the contract of a HC who has not had a winning s...

Re: Fritz on verge of extension

Tulane declined a Rose Bowl invite in 1925 in order to keep their student athletes in class. That may have been Tulane's best team ever, as the only blemish was a tie to Missou, and shut outs in 6 of 10 games. They went undefeated again in 1929 and 1931, with a loss to Northwestern in 1930 preventi...

Any details?
I hope that they did not give him 10-year deal similar to what Benny Ellender got in the 1970's.

After all, Fritz has NOT put a winner on the field yet.

Re: “Battle for the Rag” Once a great rivalry

I only want to see LSU again when we are a winning program and have the talent to pull off an upset or can be competitive. Right now, we need to focus on winning more than 7 games a year , and knowing that teams like FIU will be W's for us . You are absolutely correct . If Tulane can get back to th...

Re: Line Opens UH 9.5 pts. > Tulane – The Spread Thread

Tulsa 45 - UH 17 .... What? This score slipped by me unnoticed. I suppose that on a given Saturday, anything is possible. I'm old enough to say that I watched perhaps the greatest upset in sports history when the 18 point underdog Jets beat the Baltimore Colts. So why not us and why not now? If we ...

Re: Willie Fritz to Kansas

I have zero interest in Rich Rodriquez at this point as well. He'd only play us against other schools he was looking at like he did last time around. RR was screwed by Cowen , and has no problem sticking it to us every chance he gets. Once again, that ship has sailed. At the same time I don't think...

Re: Potential coaching candidates 2018

We already have the reputation of a career killer, even though that's not really true. Good coaches have always won here. We just never hire any. Fritz losing looks bad because he is so well respected coming in. Warranted or not, he's never been a loser until it said Tulane across his chest. We NEE...

Re: Memphis Score Prediction Thread

If Memphis scores more than 30 points, then they win going away (35-20, 31-17, 38-21, whatever). If Tulane can limit the Memphis final score to around 20 or so, then Tulane pulls an upset . Tulane must control the Memphis passing attack. This MUST be a LOW-scoring game (21-20, 24-21, 17-14) for Tul...

Gotta give credit to Aresco. It took a lot of work and effort to make that happen. Maybe the SEC should learn something. PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced a number of changes to its 2017 football schedule, including a rescheduled date for the game between USF and UConn that was not played last week in advance of Hurricane Irma.
