Re: Ye Olde Farts

Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things. ~Winston Churchill

That just about says it all.

Re: Coach Toledo

How is Cowen allowed to continue to run the university into the ground in all facets? Does anyone care at this point? Why don't people throw things at him at sporting events and in public? He's failed the university in every single area. He's so bad people should really just follow him around all da...

Re: Coach Toledo

The schedule whether it be a tough one or a terrible one is not the issue. The issue is the quality of the program. If we're going to play a weak schedule you have to win 9-11 games against it like we did in 98. Contrary to what idiots will claim, the attendance at Tulane games was increasing solidl...

Re: Mayor comment on Mardi Gras Marathon Visitors

According to Toledo we don't want to play those SEC teams anymore. I doubt the city is going to be excited about the 500 fans UTEP is going to bring next year. One of the first things I would do as AD is to communicate how much a successful Tulane football team can contribute to the city economicall...

Re: Coach Toledo

We dumbed down the schedule in the mid 90's and it led to a worse program with lower expectations. There is no reason in the world we can't compete with and beat SEC teams. I'm not saying consistently beat the best SEC teams, but we're in the South and we have the same recruiting ground as them. We ...

Re: Impact of 21,241 tourist for the Mardi Gras Marithon

1 big SEC opponent a year at home would draw in between 15-30K out of town visitors. The city can't demand our athletic department get its act together, but the city and local businesses could be great partners from a sponsorship and season ticket base if they started seeing larger out of state crow...

Re: "Oliver N. Blue" --- where is he now?

I think it's pretty telling that there are 3 pages on YOGWF of posters basically bashing Dickson over this and the university and JTS is nowhere to be found. It's pretty hard for even the most ardent YES MAN to read that interview and not realize that the administration has surrendered athletically.

Re: "Oliver N. Blue" --- where is he now?

I believe he posted on YOGWF a couple of months ago that he was done because he was upset with 2 or 3 of the posters "negative" tone when they had the audacity to question whether or not the university really was upping the commitment to sports. I guess he switched sides for some reason.

What are his and Cowen's email addresses as well as those of Ed Daniels, Jim Henderson, and other local sportscasters. Maybe if you/we keep sending them emails and they refuse to give any sort of honest reply and then you send the whole exchange to local sportscasters you could possibly get some peo...

For what it's worth I went to Cincy in early December for the Saints game. One of the guys I went with predicted this would happen 100%. He had family that was close with the Payton's or at least involved with them. He told us all that Payton's wife absolutely hated New Orleans, had a very low opini...

Re: Athletic director Dickson talks empty Superdome

I have a hard time coming up with any sort of logical reasoning for renewing my season tickets after that interview. Talk about complete surrender. Does anyone else think his 65 scholarship comment sounds like de-emphasis on the horizon if the NCAA doesn't mandate it? We play in one of the greatest ...

So one kid committed to us even though he didn't know we had a football program because in his own words nobody else showed interest. One kid committed because he wants to major in civil engineering which we don't have. Then we recruited 2 QB's, 1 who is totally pro style and the other who mostly ra...

What is Boise St. ranking as far as WAC teams go? If I had to guess I would assume its at the top. We are 11th in CuSA every year.

Re: Official Final Ranking of this years Recruiting from Riv

I don't understand how people discount rivals when often their recruiting rankings mirror exactly how the teams finish during the season. It's fairly obvious from a talent standpoint that we're bottom 1/3 of CUSA and that's where we consistently get ranked recruiting wise. I don't understand why peo...

That's the thing though, the investment is not some astronomical figure. We're talking about allowing our coaches to recruit on equal ground with everyone which costs nothing. The costs as I see them are creating an infrastructure to support these kids academically once they get in, building an indo...

He actually set the national receiving yardage record for a career that game. Jones is still my favorite Tulane player ever till this day. If you look at that schedule from 87 I believe we went 3-1 against the SEC. We beat Vandy, Ole Miss, Ms. St, and lost to #5 LSu 41-36. My how our expectations ha...

Seems to me the same teams that are in the top 25 in recruiting every year are in the Top 25 during the season as well. I actually put alot more faith in the star rankings as a whole because quite frankly its pretty accurate. For every 1 they miss on they get 15 right. On Yogwf every recruit is unde...

It increased the quantity of people applying which alllowed LSU to not only ...

I like how the statement leads us to believe that the school is actually going to spend time discussing locations for a Victory Bell. Talk about wasting time on stupidity. No SEC will ever go independent unless its Vandy. Ohio St. will never go independent. Texas is the only school that might go independent eventually because they can support themselves and likely thrive playing a national schedule. If our decision comes to the point where we're either going to be in ...

I don't think it's that big of a deal or has any real effect on how the team plays as evidenced by the win, but I think it's in line with the way this department does things. They would rather save $2K and do something 2nd rate. It just always we're cutting even the smallest corners. Busing the bask...

Everything I've read about Conroy since he got hired makes me think Dickson finally made a good hire. I actually don't have a problem with the bad schedule "this year" because I think this program needed a chance to get off the ground without a 10 win season in the Coach's 1st. 11-3 and 1-0 is a goo...

Most of us hate YOGWF because we've seen what it has done to the fanbase. Speaking in my own case I was "banned for life" for simply stating that Scelfo didn't have the team ready to play for the Houston game in 2006 I believe, a game in which we lost by 40 or so and a game in which several people I...
