Re: pete Finney

Most of us hate YOGWF because we've seen what it has done to the fanbase. Speaking in my own case I was "banned for life" for simply stating that Scelfo didn't have the team ready to play for the Houston game in 2006 I believe, a game in which we lost by 40 or so and a game in which several people I...

Re: Lost him once, lets not again. Bring back Coach Rod.

What's sad is you know that if we win 6 games Dickson will consider the season a success. The bar is so low here that .500 in football in a terrible conference will be considered a success by the administration. If you guaranteed Dickson that Toledo wins 7 games next year he'd sign him to a lenghty ...

They can't be saving more than 2K. Houston is 6 hours away not including traffic by bus, it's 45 minutes by plane. They can't be saving more than $2K. I played Basketball at Brother Martin and we played a tourney in Atlanta which is 7 hours by bus and busing was not even discussed or considered. If ...

Re: Influential Tulane Alums Turned Off

If major Tulane alums are turned off how do you think non-Tulane alums who grew up die-hard Tulane fans feel? You know how demoralizing and frustrating it is to root for a school you didn't graduate from that refuses to help themselves while the school you did graduate from wins 2 national champions...

Re: Well, let's see how this works out.

It's not optimistic to just hope something happens when all signs point in a different direction and nothing is being done to obtain these optimistic goals. I find this board more optimistic because there are people here who actually believe Tulane can and should have a top 20 football program year ...

Any Tulane fan who shows any support for Scott Cowen whatsoever supports the end of the football program whether they realize it or not. He should've been run out of town in 2003.

Re: Supporting College Athletics versus Professional

The best thing the State can do is not allow us to play in the Dome unless we get serious. We'd either have to get serious or quit which is exactly what needs to happen. Although I don't think we can sell out Jefferson Playground at this point.

Re: What is a Realistic Expectation for Tulane Football ?

Under the current model I don't believe Tulane will have a football team in 10 years. If the University put forth actual effort to win I would expect 8-12 wins every year in the conference we are in. I would say drawing consistently 35-40 with 1 or 2 games a year over 55K. If we cared enough to try ...

Re: TAF Donations Down

I don't see how saying that Rich Rodriguez wouldn't come back is being negative. I mean the man wore a green suit to a press conference where he fully expected to be named head coach only to have Chris Scelfo pulled from a hallway onto the podium to accept "HIS" job while he sat their like a deer in...

Re: 2010 Hawaii Bowl question:

It's not like if West Monroe beats a Class C team by 90, two teams from two similar conferences in stature and both teams offer scholarships. Also, Hawaii has been to a BCS game recently so I think like was said on that 30 for 30 on Miami, "If you don't want to watch us dance in the end zone, don't ...

Re: Vision lacking from the Administration(Multi-use Stadium

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd like to shoot higher than a 25K stadium and a program on par with USM. We have more potential than any CUSA program with the exception of UCF. It's so frustrating to watch people think on such a small scale because it's exactly what Cowen wants. We can't grow a fanbase playi...

Re: Supporting College Athletics versus Professional

It's Utah, Boise St. has moved from WAC to Mountain West. A better example might be TCU who has moved from CUSA to Mountain West to Big East and BCS. It just shows the naysayers that if you make a serious commitment anything can happen. None of us know what college athletics will look like in 2020, ...

Re: Supporting College Athletics versus Professional

I own a bar and I know alot of other bar and restaurant owners. LSU home games are not good for the New Orleans hospitality industry. LSU away games are good, but for the most part alot of New Orleanians head to B.R. for LSU home games, myself included once or twice a year. Most of your 20-30 yr old...

Re: TAF Donations Down

Why would Rich Rodriguez accept an Asst. Coaching job here when we already screwed him once when he was OC? Why would a guy who is the head coach at Michigan take an asst. coaching job at a CUSA bottom feeder that totally humiliated him in public?

Re: Supporting College Athletics versus Professional

First off let me say that Tulane decided to pull itself out of the SEC, Tulane decided to relegate its athletic programs to secondary status, Tulane decides to not compete on an even level with everyone else, Tulane decides to put little or no money into its own athletic dept., Tulane keeps an Athle...

Re: Vision lacking from the Administration(Multi-use Stadium

From a strictly cost-benefit analysis, actually improving the football "PROGRAM" could be done way cheaper and way quicker than building an on campus stadium. The President and board possess the ability to improve this program drastically through their own actions within the year. No red tape, no ne...

Do you want to limit this football program to 35,000 capacity? 24 months of winning from 1996-98 brought us from 3K to 38K in the Dome against less than attractive opponents.

Re: Vision lacking from the Administration(Multi-use Stadium

The 2 most legitimate coaches Tulane has had in the last 3 decades(Mack Brown, and Tommy Bowden) have both claimed the Superdome as their best recruiting tool. From the time I was 4 all I heard was how our biggest recruiting tool was the Superdome.

Re: When I knew

The sad thing is if you hired an athletic director with any sort of vision and gave him the tools to get it done in football, i.e. get out of the way, we'd at the very least win 8 games a year and compete for the CUSA championship. We already know the answers: 1) Allow him to recruit at the same sta...

My question has always been if Tulane prides itself on being Great "Educators" why are they so afraid to educate? Why are they so afraid to take a guy with a 18 ACT and "educate" them? Being in New Orleans how positive of an impact on the African American community in New Orleans could they have if ...

Also, what does it say about YOGWF that you cant say negative thing about a Tulane coach during the season, but as soon as someone transfers because said coach is doing a horrendous job you can bash the living sh*t out of the kid and talk about how he wasn't any good to start with.

Either these players weren't as good as advertised (which means Toledo really can't recruit) were selfish me first type players (which means Toledo isn't recruiting the "great" kids we are told he is) or they were promised a more dynamic/prolific offense and became disgruntled (which means Toledo ca...
