Re: Big 12 expansion

Ummm, I think you'd have to include Oregon in the PAC as a Power team. As a matter of fact, I'd put them in and take out Cal. The list above isn't about strength on the field. It's about recruiting, exposure, or both. Oregon as a state has a negligible amount of recruits, and Oregon as a team would...

Re: Big 12 expansion

I don't see the point in parcing down P5 programs. At the end of the day, there are only about ~16 programs nationally that make conferences "Power" conferences. I mean, if the SEC didn't have Florida, Georgia, Alabama and LSU, would it still be a "Power" conference? What about the PAC with USC, UCL...

Trey Quinn (WR)

Maybe we could go after WR Trey Quinn? He's leaving LSU, wants to remain in FBS, and is prevented from transferring to an SEC school.

Re: Former Coach ( in name only) CJ

Well, no one else wanted the Tulane job back then, and, in addition, it appears as though the CJ era ensured that he was not going to be replaced with a Pro Style coach, so that's one positive takeaway.

Re: 2016 Football Schedule

We interrupt the Fat Tuesday celebration to bring you the finalized 2016 football schedule. Anyone brave (foolish) enough to make a prediction before spring practice? (Hint: we've an excellent chance to be 5-0). Afterthought: Hope we're able to schedule those three September games in the evening ho...

Re: Tulane Can Break - Up "The Biggest Recruiting Advantage In College FB"

Tulane? One of the best P5 jobs in the country? Just by virtue in being in a P5? Seriously? Just as Utah, TCU and Baylor have become plum jobs. I'm saying that Tulane + P5 status alone is not sufficient to make it one of the best jobs. If Tulane entered the Big 12 this year, it would still be at le...

Re: Tulane FB OOC schedules 2014 thru 2023

Arkansas finished #3 in the SEC West, so, if you think Arkansas wasn't good, you must not think highly of the SEC West. As for TCU, TCU was still amazing without Boykin, so it's unreasonable to say that it wasn't good when it played Tech. Overall, Tech was solid. If we had Techs offensive production...

Re: Tulane FB OOC schedules 2014 thru 2023

Don't let Texas Techs bad Defense fool you into believing that they weren't good last year. That team was incredible and likely would have finished the season ranked if not for TCU's lucky TD and Texas AM running away from playing Tech in the postseason. Remember, Tech soundly defeated Arkansas @ Ar...

Re: Tulane FB OOC schedules 2014 thru 2023

Looking forward to learning Dannen's scheduling philosophy. I hope he gets very aggressive about getting LSU on the Football and Basketball schedules. Don't give a rats behind about playing LSU ever again. We can get the same experience/exposure playing other major p5 programs who would be more wil...

Tulane? One of the best P5 jobs in the country? Just by virtue in being in a P5? Seriously? +1 We're still a long road away from being in a P5. IF Tulane were to ever get an invite, it would probably mean that we've been winning since the 2016 season, and our fan base has grown. There's too many sc...

Re: Tulane Can Break - Up "The Biggest Recruiting Advantage In College FB"

I simply can't understand all of the credence that y'all place in every word that a coach speaks, especially words such as "many years" and "long haul". First, while I hope that Coach Fritz is the absolute best coach in Tulane history, and that he stays here for decades to a ripe old age, I think e...

Re: The NEW OOC FB SCHEDULE Thread

Having already discussed the need for better recruits, better administrative support, better coaching, better facilities and better attendance until we're all redundent we must now get Tulane to schedule FOR THE PURPOSE OPF PROVING WE BELONG IN THE BIG XII. Re: Doug Coleman switches to Texas Tech

I don't understand why anyone is surprised. The P5 thing is a big deal to high schoolers, and it's obvious why that is. While we have beaten Tech for a recruit or two before and will do so again, we cannot expect to consistently beat out Tech - especially since our new offense won't showcase receive...

Re: Recruiting (G5 vs P5)

P5 again raises its ugly head as QB stark and Warren Easton coach pick worst P5 program in America over the hometown team. Also, does everyone agree that academics play no part and maybe even hurt Tulane in the minds of Louisiana recruits. Or sometimes 17 year olds make mistakes. Maybe the kid knew...

Re: Recruiting

It's the whole P5 branding causing this. Basically non P5 teams are viewed as the minor leagues, so the better players won't go to them. This. Disney's establishment of the P5 heavily diminished the attractiveness of non-P5 programs. If I was a 4/5 star player, why would I choose Tulane over a diff...

True, but CJs class this year was pretty solid before they fired him. I believe it was in the 60s.

Academics mean NOTHING when a conference looks to expand. That is completely and utterly False. Lack of academics and research is a complete non-starter for some good football programs (Boise) and problematic for others (Houston, Memphis). Tulane has the hard part - the foundation - which is the ac...

We'd be a bigger bottom feeder in the Big 12 than we are in the AAC. And right now we're really cleaning the bottom of the tank in the AAC. Let's face it, AS WE STAND TODAY we are not an attractive target for P5 expansion. The rest of the country would wonder why a conference wanted a University th...

Regardless of what offense the new coach uses, Glen and Devin would certainly be better fits than Tanner, so it's not a huge loss.

Why is anyone surprised by any of this? Cowen changed the culture at Tulane - the only thing that matters to the university is money and power. Nothing else really matters. If you don't contribute to either of those, you are irrelevant - this applies to educational programs and athletics.
