UCF lost to FIU

UCF, a two touchdown favorite over FIU, just lost.

I'm speechless.

Re: USA Today preseason poll...

Preseason polls don't mean much. Beat Duke and we'd move halfway up from where we are, though I don't think we move much if we lose, unless we look terrible in defeat. They probably don't rank past 25 once the season begins. True, but, fortunately, USA Today ranks all 128 teams on a weekly basis. I...

Re: Tulane Picks Up Three Star QB in Jack Abraham

Jack Abraham is getting interest from Cal and UCLA. I'm certain that he will get approached by many other schools...particularly if Oxford HS wins the state championship this year as many are predicting. http://www.nola.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2015/08/despite_cal_ucla_interest_jack.html Hopefully,...

Re: Fall Camp Thread

I still don't understand why everyone blames the coaches for our bad year last year. When CJ took over, Tulane had very little other than a good senior QB, and it showed. Literally, the football program was lower than any of the other recent rebuilding jobs that I can think of. Obviously, the result...

Tanner Lee looking like last season hasn't ended. I hope Powell starts. I guess everyone see's something in Powell I do not... I never understood signing the young man in the first place...of course I did not understand signing Lee either...too many "projects" and not nearly enough time..oh wait..w...

Re: CFN's PreSeason top 128

Considering that almost all of our skill players were some form of freshmen last year, and, considering that last seasons Schedule was our toughest since 2006, I don't think we should have expected to have won more than 3-5 games. This year, however, we should be ready to win at least 6, but, as eve...

Re: Other Louisiana university thread

Who cares? ULL has been solid on the field, and it is building new facilities, but who cares? At this point in time, if all of the power conferences expanded to 16, it's likely that two additional LA schools would be added to those leagues, and ULL wouldn't be one of them. So, once again, who cares?

I'm happy that ULL is having an opportunity to play such a high profile team, even if it is just a one and done.

Re: Tanner Lee

Like you said, Montana look OK vs. Jackson St. and South Alabama who are both nobodies at best. I mean we lost to South Alabama. Montana did well against JSU, USA, LaTech, and LaMonroe, and that showed that our offense can work with a good QB (34, 39, 24, and 31 points, respectively). However, his ...

Re: Big 12 expansion

While our facilities aren't the best, we have access to the Superdome, the Smoothie King Center, and the Saints' indoor practice facility. As such, that's fine for the time being. If the Big 12 doesn't raid the ACC or pursue other P5s, it would be pretty risky to not examine Tulane closely since it ...

Re: Big 12 expansion

I wanted to expand a little further on the ACC for FYI purposes. If we assume that the true champion of the ACC is the one that is given the relevant bowl bid at the end of the year (pre playoff/BCS), then only one time has one team that is currently in the conference won the conference in football ...

Re: Big 12 expansion

Maryland has not got out of it tmk. The B12 isn't going to throw TU a lifeline, we would need a few years of consistent winning and at least another $40mm in facilities to show we r committed. Its a huge long shot. Maryland got out of it last year for about $31M: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...

Re: Big 12 expansion

At this point, I think the dream scenario would be if the Big 12 added Navy and Air Force (the times have changed since the Air Force turned down the Big 12) as football only members (smaller distributions than full members), and then added Tulane and Cincinnati (assuming that the Big 12 chooses to...

Re: 2015 Tulane Football Schedule

If you do not mind me shifting the subject of these postings a bit, then allow me to ask this. If Tulane only wins 4 or 5 games, will that be viewed as progress (from the 3 wins of last year)? IMHO: •4 wins or less - Wholesale changes required (entire staff) •5 wins - Major coaching staff change re...

Re: How To Deal With A Laughing Stock: Peer Pressure vs Media Pressure

Tulane is well connected enough that state and local (and some national) media outlets will not heavily criticize the school even when it is warranted, and, unfortunately, criticizing the AD is frequently viewed as vicariously criticizing the school. More likely that Tulane is just irrelevant due t...

Re: Mike Aresco still stumping for AAC in Power 5 conversation

Well, the AAC is certainly built like a Power Conference, and so arguing that it is similar to one makes at least some sense.
