As an aside, the program I feel bad for in all of this is USM. They really are competitive in football and it's unfortunate that they appear to be stuck in this league.
There is no way this new C-USA is going to viable in major college football. No way. No how.

I'm afraid last night's loss is another reminder that the days of competing with the LSUs and CS Fullertons are long gone. Tulane will remain fairly competitive in the sport, but Omaha (or even regional-caliber teams) will be very tough to produce going forward.

What stings me most is that Tulane clearly had a better football program than SMU until around 2009-10 (as ridiculous as that sounds). Now look at the divergent paths those two have taken since.
