Re: Post season analysis

But you're kind of making my point. A very good FCS team is probably about as good at the 50 percentile FBS. So we were in the bottom half. That's pretty bad. But we haven't been ranked in the top half of FBS in a long time. Yes, part of this is setting the bar low, but a move to the middle of FBS ...

Re: Football Recruiting 2018

You can’t measure him relative to other Tulane players just because we aren’t used to having four star players and demand that he be so much better than anyone else on the roster (especially as a safety!) You have to measure him against four-star safeties. He is pretty much what you get from a four...

Re: “Battle for the Rag” Once a great rivalry

What drives me crazy is that Tulane is capable of transcending that G5 label. There aren't many. BYU is another and they do a better job than us. But they have been hurt by that label too. I think it's that they're national universities and not some small directionals. I think Colorado-Colorado sta...

Re: Tulane embarrassed at Georgia State 70-59

I guess that 15 point loss to Prairie View is no worse than 17 point loss by CSU to FSU. Yeah. Right. We lost to them by 11 on a night we shot what, 24% from the field? And 1 of 15 (6%) from behind the arc? And turned it over what, 20+ times. Georgia State is a powerhouse, that's for sure. But the ...

Re: Post season analysis

On the other hand we were 17 points away from ending up 2-9. That "good loss" to Navy ended up being a "pretty ok loss". That huge corner turning win over Tulsa led us running head first into a brick wall. We lost to an alright FIU team and a terrible Cincy team. It took overtim...

Re: Football Recruiting 2018

Darion Monroe didn't live up to his 4 star status, that's for sure. He started literally *every* game for us for four years except one where CJ suspended him for some team rules thing. He had over 330 tackles over those four years, that is an average of 82/year from the safety position (with some c...

Re: Post season analysis

Comparing Fritz and Frost is ridiculous. UCF has no admissions standards. They went 0-12 with those same standards. Well, when you also have the largest student body population to pull from, you're probably going to be sitting in a pretty good position especially when your state is a hot bed for fo...

Re: Post season analysis

Banks was a JUCO. That was good but I agree with your point. Agreed. I was referring more to those that feel we just can't have a good d-line or a decent OLine without JUCO/Grad transfers. We had two on the OLine this year and I don't know that we were any better than last year. Hard to tell. We go...

Re: SMU Gameday Thread

Do you think CJ or Toledo would have this team in the same position as Fritz has? You are the new Jonathan..... Yes, and we would have better players coming in than we have currently committed. This class is currently the highest rated class since they went to the rating system (for whatever that's...

Re: SMU Gameday Thread

The most frustrating part of the review for me is that they took a fumble return td from us earlier where they overturned the call on the field and the ball was clearly moving when his knee hit the ground. At the very least it wasn't indisputable. They seem to use the term indisputable at their own...

Re: SMU Gameday Thread

This team, this coaching staff has failed over and over again to put a team away in the fourth quarter when they had the chance. Going back to last season when Tulane blew a two score fourth quarter lead to SMU, how many times have they blown the lead in the fourth quarter. Coming into the SMU game...

Re: Post season analysis

Coach Fritz is a seasoned and successful coach. I'm sure he gets it. The O line needs to be fixed, though I think Coach Atkins got a lot out of a limited O-line. We need to protect the QB better. There were holes to be found, we didn't average 230 yards on the ground/game without some success by the...

Re: Final call

ok but its the coachs responsibility to put the players in the best scenario. i dont blame banks running there because if everyone is covered what else is he supposed to do? a good coach takes that decision out of his players hands by putting the field goal unit out on the field and playing for ove...

Re: Georgia State Game Thread

Who could have predicted this might be a tough spot for us. But please, tell me again that they lost to Prairie View. I did take us moneyline in this game and am still hopeful. But Vegas was generally right in thinking this would be a test. Only because we let it. I was taking that into account whe...

Re: Final call

To me, there was no doubt at all that the ball crossed the front plane of the goal line. It was clear, without a doubt. The replay official should be fired, and cited as making one of the worst calls in the history of instant replay reviews. That being said, the game is over, and official and we're ...
