Re: Academics and recruiting at Tulane

Per a very good source said athletic friendly majors will be in place this fall. We will not have a PE major which I still hope they get very soon but there will be some very athletic friendly majors. I have heard this as well - 5 new athletic friendly majors. Also heard the door is finally wide op...

Re: Tulane's 1973 14-0 win over LSU rated 9th greatest momen

Considering it was termed the single greatest moment in the history of Tulane sports, I doubt there will be another TU moment on the list. I realize that that's what a lot of people say, but think about this: even if you're someone to whom the TU-LSU rivalry means a lot why wouldn't you think of th...

Re: Press Conference at 2:30 today

Aresco publicly recognizes same problems everyone but TU sees. Is this commonplace for conference CEOs now? Mike Aresco (@TheAmerican_AAC) 4/5/13, 10:01 PM It's hard to be optimistic about Tulane's situation. Ed Conroy has about 5 months to replace 6 players. There has to be MORE to this story. Mike...

Re: PARKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

agree re: expectations of return on investment.

To me, the 16-0 and 14-1 losses are much more disappointing and indicative of a coaching problem, whereas toeing the .500 line midway through the season (though unusual for this program) would merely suggest a talent problem.

perhaps they both see the value of a Tulane post-graduate degree, as well as a surefire way to maximize playing time in their last year of eligibility.

Re: Basketball HC Prospects

hate to pi$$ in everyone's cheerios, but what in the last 10 yrs indicates Dickson will be willing to let Conroy go after this year? He will get at least another 2-3 yrs to "recruit with the Big East label" and then a chance coach that "Big East caliber" squad. He will be here for at least 5 yrs if ...

Re: Tulane to the Big East (Press Conference at 1PM)

Terrific News! I'm going to be giving to TAF once again. Thanks, for Showing Me! This is the main reason I am excited about this announcement - it will change the perception of athletics at Tulane. If I am Rick Dickson, I seize the momentum and immediately announce a national athletics fundraising ...

Re: Bill Goldring Land Donation

Tulane has to find a spot to relocate the sports that are being displaced by the POSS. This property seems to offer the best opportunity for that. Seems to be a good location for those minor women's sports and men's track. With all that space on game days Tulane will probably use it as a shuttle si...

Re: Bill Goldring Land Donation

Am I missing something? If TU has this land, which apparently is enough to build a large athletic complex, with Tennis, track, etc. why not build a non-landlocked football stadium on it, where we can build (and expand) it to our own specs?

Fwiw, I was told this weekend by a high ranking member in the Ath Dept that the number is 30,000 capacity (28,700 seats), expandable to at least 40,000. I don't know anything about construction materials. I guess you were lied to or the "high" member was lied to. Apparently so. Maybe I misunderstoo...

Re: Official Curtis Johnson Assistant Coach/Staff Thread

Tulane football hasn't had world talent since the 1930s. The coaches who have won at TU got the most out of the talent on the roster and had schemes that fit TU. Scelfo wasted so much talent, as did Davis and Teevens. Toledo also did little with the talent he recruited, largely because he didn't ada...

Re: Good work Tammy Nunez and Ken Trahan

It's funny how the so called insiders said she and the media didn't know what they were talking about and yet we end up with CJ a guy she and Ken Trahan reported as the leader weeks ago. CJ was not the leader for weeks. His hiring is not a vindication of Tammy's reporting of the search- which was a...

Only TU could set out to hire a big name coach with $2million, and come back a month and a half later with a career position coach. Incredible.

Just FYI for those in meltdown mode, there is at least one option still in negotiation with Tulane that would please most TU fans. I'm not referring to Curtis Johnson or Mike Haywood, though they may be candidates.
