Re: Tulane leads CUSA!

It make not last, but it sure feels good for now. This is the shot in the arm the Basketball prorgam needs. They may even be for real. Real like .500 in conference play with a shot at being in one of those new, never heard of it before, postseason tournaments. Coach Conroy is for real. He's a winner...

Re: Busing

I dont get this complaining about taking a bus stuff. College teams do it all the time. They got on a big comfy bus and drove 300 miles to Houston. So what. Michigan State took a bus to Indy for the NCAA final four in 2009. Does that mean they are cheap bastards cause they could of got on a plane a...

Re: Busing

You can actually get a lot of things done on a bus. Like homework, game -planning, team bonding. I don't think it's that big a deal either. Buses today are more plush than in the past. They have TV's, DVD's, WiFi. A big bus can take both the team and the cheerleaders and still have some room for any...

Re: Lost him once, lets not again. Bring back Coach Rod.

Toledo is building a foundation for better things at Tulane. Doesnt it feel a bit like Teevens-Bowden? I mean Teevens had some decent talent and took five years to put it all together and Bowden took it and turned it into winners. I'm not sure Rich Rod could do the same right away but his approach o...

Re: U CONN

Happened to be in the car when to Fiesta Bowl was on last night. Heard the announcers talk about UCONN and how they had been D1 only since 2000, how they made the financial commitment to facilities, etc. UCONN, a school previously known only for basketball. Then, there's TCU. Enough said!! And ther...

If he took a year off and went on TV as an analyst then came back and expressed an interest in coaching at Tulane would you hire him?

Re: Pete Finney

I'll give the same response that I gave over there:

Five wins: SELA, UTEP, Memphis, @Rice, UAB (not completely confident in that)
Houston, Tulsa, ECU - Loss
Syracuse, @Duke, @SMU - edge to them
Army - Loss
Hawaii - hard to imagine a W in this spot.

It's still a long way off though.

Given all that encorporates the TU Football program - from support from the school , access to recruits, the competition we face, the facilities we have, the the advantages and obstacles we face across the board what, in your opinion would be reasonable to expect from Tulane's Football program? What's Realistic Expectation for Tulane Baseball ?

What should we expect from Tulane Baseball ? I think: 35+ wins a year. A host of very good college players with a few exceptional ones who have the ability to play in the majors. A trip the the NCAA Tournament every year. Hosting an NCAA regional every so often and a CWS trip every few years. Beatin...

What's Realistic Expectation for Tulane Men's Basketball?

What should we come to expect from our Men's Basketball program ? My answer: Tulane should expect Basketball to be very successful and wildly popular. The ingredients are all there for a major basketball program that can be among the best in the nation. Such lofty heights have been reached before so...

Re: Vandy, "The Harvard of the South," Mans Up

If Tulane had BCS money we could really make a high profile hire. I think investing in a great coach is worth it but it's not worth it to overspend on one unless he's close to a sure thing.

In our case you need to ask: Do we have the transfer bug because guys have better players in front of them or the dissatisfaction with the program makes them want to leave?

Re: Supporting College Athletics versus Professional

As I said in another thread that is the lamest argument out there. "Hey our team sucks but we are the largest employer so you better support them. BTW, as RD says if you don't like the model too bad". That argument won't sell a single ticket. Instead it just turns people off that much mor...

Tulane is the largest employer in New Orleans correct? It only makes sense to support the school. What's good for Tulane is good for New Orleans. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

It's classless and Football could use some class. Don't do it because it looks bad. Yeah they may have been winning but running the score up in a Bowl game is bush league unless there's some reason known for it.

I wouldn't be that harsh with Cowan. I would. What exactly has he done that should insulate him from harsh, and I mean harsh, criticism? The Review. Painful as it was. Was a necessary gauge of TU fan interest. It was needed to see just how serious TU was about Football. I don't necessarily blame hi...

Re: Vision lacking from the Administration(Multi-use Stadium

Just reading the various suggestions on this thread underscores how completely devoid the Cowen administration is of anything close to strategic thinking. I don't think the Cowenistas have any idea what they are going to do next week--much less how to optimize the layout of our "land scarce&qu...

If it was me, I'd have done a multi-purpose stadium with football in mind first. Make a football stadium that can also accomodate Baseball. Now I know this would not be popular. The baseball stadium would be cavernous and you'd lose a little something in the transition, but Football is the straw th...
