Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"

Stop embarrassing your daughter. Ah, JDTulane, the little boy who wishes so fervently he could be a man. Thank you for your concern. My daughter IS slightly embarrassed that I post on Tulane message boards where only five or so people post, but she loves me anyway. She does have enough sense to be ...

Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"

I'm curious why you sent your daughter to Tulane instead of LSU? Pepper, I'm curious in your choice of wording. Do parents actually "send" an 18 year old young woman to a certain school? Don't answer that ... I guess they do. I didn't. My daughter had plenty of choices and chose Tulane. Y...

Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"

I'm the one who called you an SOB, and I'd say it again. Yeah Nancy Boy, you called me an SOB and would do it again. What you were so careful to leave out were those last three little words of mine. Smart boy. So play internet badass. We both know that's ALL you'll do. Now I am sincere here, ...

Re: Tiger Droppings "Honorable Mention"

And yet, he chose not to post here. Robert M, please accept my sincere apologies for mixing you up with the other dipshit. When it's mostly the same five or ten guys that post mostly on a message board, you kinda figure when two of them are named "Robert" that they are the same person. I ...

This SOB's daughter was given a full ride.
Oh by the way "Robert M" ... I DO post here.

I'm sure we can have an interesting discussion about this sans message board.

I'd love to have you call me an SOB to my face.

How about it?

Re: Tulane stuff

Well, to use the nice saying ... we'll just have to "agree to disagree." I'd say the same thing about LSU football if it got to the point that it did in the Hallman years, because of neglect of and stupidity by the athletic administration. I WOULD say that I was referring mainly to Cowen, ...

Re: YOGWF

Guys, let's face facts. The YOGWF crowd may pay lip service to wanting Tulane football to compete and win conference championships, but from an outsider's perspective, they actually love the "us four and no more" paradigm and want to keep it that way. More wins means more fans, it means si...

Re: Tulane Band

timlan can you give us an update. I'm glad they brought it back. It seemed like the school stepped up in year two and increased the rate the band would get scholarships in order to speed up the process. It looked like it was building and then last year we lost 20 members. I was hoping we would be a...

Re: Some small-size on-campus stadium

I'm not a local with insider information, so this is just speculation on my part. I don't think Cowen has leverage with the city of NOLA; that's just as well, he wouldn't no what to do with it if he had it. I personally just do not think that the city of NOLA gives a rat's ass whether Tulane plays f...

Re: The "Play Book" revealed

"Renaissance" ... it's not surprising that is becoming a buzzword for this administration re: athletics. Some of you may have the coffee table book "Renaissance" ... it was the picture-and-word story of Tulane recovering from Katrina. Very nice book ... but it's obvious that Cowe...

Timlan: As a fan of the SC band where my daughter attended, I was in contact with Barry during his first couple of years and made donations. Have not since but my wife says someone from the band called while I was out of town thanking me for band support so I thought, yup will happily donate to the...

Re: WAY too early season prediction

I just threw out RR since we discussed him at the beginning of this season. I expect someone of equal caliber if we lose out again w/ 5-6 wins. 6 or less and Toledo is out. It's already been decided that. Toledo said he would retire w/ another piss poor season. Declining academics? Hardly. And I be...

Re: Tulane Band

RW, I'll ask my daughter if she has any preliminary indications on membership for 2011-12. A friend and I have cooked for the band on the first day of band camp the last couple years. I should have a better indication of band size for this coming year in August. My daughter will be a senior this yea...

Re: WAY too early season prediction

So that's it folks. We finish 6-7, miss a bowl game, and wave aloha to Toledo. We hire RR and Tulane once again hits program reboot. This time it will be different! 2012 brings a new coach, new fire, ANGER, and a 7+ win season. Tulane hires RR? That's pretty farfetched, unless the prediction includ...

Re: LSU not in a Regional!

Pepper, I didn't say attendance per se had squat to do with getting into the tourney. I said that LSU plays a lot of non-conference home games because its home crowds are the best in the country. St. Johns was praised by the committee for playing piss-poor schools on the road, when as a cold weather...

Re: LSU not in a Regional!

Well, the way the NCAA went on about "road games," LSU was penalized for drawing 10K at home while St. Johns was rewarded for being a cold weather school. But regardless, it should never have come down to being that close. And rightfully, Paul Mainieri should be under a bit of scrutiny. No...

Re: If something has to happen at the end . . .

Gotta agree with that. That stadium was built specifically with hosting regionals and subregionals in mind. The thought of finishing 7th, 8th, or 9th in CUSA consistently wasn't even a possibility at that time. Jones pushed hard for that stadium and pouring the amount of money and resources into th...

Re: Venting: ESPN Miami Documentary

Pete, with regard to your first post: it wouldn't have to compromise any academics. Miami's academics is probably superior to Tulane's today. As JJ said, you can't find two more similar schools (private, enrollment size) than Tulane and Miami. With regard to your second post: SMU is irrelevant here....

Venting: ESPN Miami Documentary

The documentary dealt with the Miami program from back in the 1980s when Jimmy Johnson came aboard. "The U" under Johnson and Erickson would be stuff of Scott Cowen's and Rick Dickson's deepest darkest nightmares ... stud players with a "gangster rap" image, some arrests and admi...

How much of a legitimate Division I football program can Tulane be said to be when your Assistant Head Coach leaves to become athletic director supervising five-year-olds?

"The K-12 athletic director."

Wow. Just wow.

The sad thing is, with this clown outfit we have in charge right now, this is probably no worse than a lateral move and maybe a step up.
