Re: SMU Game Thread
Good for LaToya. It's the one issue she's actually been right on since being elected. Not much else, that's for sure.

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East
Let’s say it one more time so the people in the back can hear: Navy is NOT going to move to the East. They specifically asked for the West and it was a condition of their joining the conference. And Aresco isn’t going to force/anger them. If we expand Westward, either Memphis or Tulane will move to ...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East
The P6 argument isn't really about convincing anybody we are equal to all in the P5. Heck, the P5 aren't equal to the rest of the P5. Does anyone treat the ACC or Pac 12 as equal to the SEC?!? The P6 argument is about making us stand out head and shoulders above the rest of the G5, and closer to the...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East
The view from New Jersey: https://www.nj.com/sports/2019/06/who-will-replace-uconn-in-aac-ranking-the-top-candidates-army-byu-who-else.html The American Athletic Conference is likely losing UConn as a football member. The AAC should not be terribly broken up about this - the Huskies have been an on-...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East
Also worth noting: while I don;'t think staying at 11 is likely, it isn't completely crazy for a year or two. One less school to divvy up the money from the TV contract with. If we can't get a program we want, then sit for a year or two. Tell the teams that were borderline exactly what they'd need t...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East
When you combine the following 3 long standing rumors, a lot makes sense: ~The AAC seemed actively interested in UMass up until about 2 years ago when we cooled greatly, in spite of the fact that UMass is horrible at football, doesn't have great facilities, and is far behind UConn in basketball ~ UC...

Re: UConn back to Big East?
golfnut---only like 12 schools care about baseball. Meanwhile UConn doesn't care much about football (other than trying to prop it up in case they need it to get into a P5). This move is being made because their attendance at men's and women's basketball is lagging as is the product on the field. Ri...

Re: UConn back to Big East?
On Wednesday, I was on the 247 Sports football recruiting site and noticed that UConn was not listed in the AAC grouping. I figured but was just a mistake, but obviously not. I wonder if they have already stopped football recruiting. They have not stopped football recruiting. In fact the school is ...

Re: UConn back to Big East?
Worth noting at least one other BE school is not catholic. The media calling them catholic schools is a misnomer (though most are catholic), They are all private (until UConn)

Re: UConn back to Big East?
Also, fwiw, everyone is acting like Uconn's anger over the recent tv deal is what finally pushed them out. But with the whispers so prominent for so long, I think it is more likely the other way around. Aresco wasn't concerned with UConn's interests in the tv deal because he knew they were leaving s...

Re: UConn back to Big East?
VCU would be great for hoops and Richmond is a good market. They are looking to add big media markets. UMASS, Georgia State and Air Force are at the top of the list. Rumor during the beginning of BBall season was that Air Force and Colo State may be a packaged deal. You get to expand West while cri...

Re: UConn back to Big East?
So who could we possibly invite to fill that slot? According to news reports, the primary options would be (if we could get them) Army (football only) or BYU. BYU likely doesn't want to give up their TV contract and Army wasn't interested in a conference in 2013 (although they are more competitive ...

On tap at Yulman for the game. In area stores on Monday Sept 4. Rouses on Tchoup is a sure bet.
Rumors overheard at the NOLA tap room on Tchoup is that they'll start selling six packs to go at the taproom around 1 pm or 2 pm on Saturday (the 2nd), but no official confirmation

Re: Tulane and LSU host FB camp in June
FWIW Julie Boudwin of the TP claims that Coach O says this camp will be open to "all" Louisiana schools. Which means we caved on the condition we wouldn't cave on last year...... While this seemed like it might have been a victory yesterday, this news really dampens any room for a victory ...

Re: 2020 FB Schedule Adds (Home against SELA)
Very disappointing out conference home schedule. I'll bow out after this, but thought this worth saying: One of the two away games was left by RD (Wake). The other one (Miss St) is part of a good make-up signing by TD after RD messed things up with Miss State, and does come with a home game another...

And for clarity, this entire thread is talking about 2019. The OP should read 2019.
The 2018 schedule is vs Wake, vs Nicholls, at UAB, and at Ohio State

Re: 2019 FB Schedule Adds (Away at Auburn and Home against Missouri State)
In order for this schedule to happen, two subtractions happened that were not included in the press release: ~ The Georgia Tech game (location TBA) that had been left after the cancelation of the other Georgia Tech game is gone. This was expected. It had been left as a location TBA, but everyone ass...

Re: Future OOC Games
Aber and JJ, you are both reinforcing my point: Down and out G5 programs such as ours is CANNOT get home and home series and we should therefore seek out opponents who offer the most publicity, and the most $$,$$$,$$$. Based on recent scheduling examples/precedent, a school like Tuane could get a h...

Re: What's Taking So Long
Was that really amended in our favor, or was the third game one that was owed from a previous contract? It was amended in our favor. It was RD's best scheduling coup. Heck, it was his only really good scheduling coup period other than the LSU series (which he then let himself get pushed around in a...
