Re: AAC Baseball Post Season Teams

Glad for the win tonight. Helps out AAC overall. AAC Conference RPI up to 4th. Any projection how many AAC/4th ranked conference gets into the post season? Long shot for TU but I’ll follow the conference teams. We have to win the tournament. Our RPI is not going to be good enough to get us in. Even...

Re: Wave finally beats UNO, 4-3

Now if we can only barely beat LSWho at Turchin this coming Wednesday, April 18th? My sources tell me Dannen will give Jewett one more year even if we lose every remaining game on our schedule. After the LSU game on Wednesday time to change the focus exclusively football where there is good reason ...

The Wave finally and barely beats UNO. Thank goodness!
So, then, do we now give Jewitt an extension on his HC contract for this 'monumental' feat ?

Another disappointing performance in Hammond.

I suppose that all that is left is for this baseball program to finish DEAD LAST in the AAC .

Re: USM Blows Tulane Out 12-3

How many years is Jewitt's contract? We need to let the season play out but if the season turns into an unqualified disaster we do have Matt Riser right across the lake. And, I hope we haven't burned any bridges with Riser the way we did for football with both Lindy Infante and RichRod? Long Beach ...

Sad how we have digressed in baseball. Bring back Jones, or at least a Jones protege.
Matt Riser is still the head baseball coach in Hammond.

Re: Graff mentioned in 5 possible candidates for Saints PBP job

If Graff takes the Saints gig, then lure Jim Henderson out of retirement to do Tulane football only. Since Jim likes to have former football players as color commentators, get Matt Forte to do that. Then you would have two guys with NFL experience (broadcasting and playing) doing college football. ...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

I'm no expert. But it seems to me he got hurt on a clean play by a player that's not as big as most NBA players , fighting through a pick. Another year of growth and filling out his body to his frame would do him well . As I've said elsewhere in this thread, I think the smart route would be to NOT ...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

It's been 20 years since a Tulane basketball player had any sort of draft buzz. Jerald Honeycutt would've been a surefire lottery pick today being a stretch 4 that can shoot 3s. He would've been a 1-and-done player. Frazier should do well in predraft camps and individual workouts. He's a great athl...

Damn 3 non Saturday games. That’s no good. Can you say attendance killer . Thank you very much for mentioning that. Two of those 'non-Sat' games are at home. It is very difficult for me to attend any FB game that does not occur on Saturday. I have too far to drive in. The TV people just dictate pol...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Boy, I’m an old guy in my sixties and it would shock the heck out of me to see a player his size without a jump shot go in round one. I know the stats show he has improved as a shooter but he has to be wide open to shoot decently which he is against bad defenses. His stats sort of remind me of Tim ...

Re: Tulane escapes ECU 71-69

For the big picture: Last year we were 3-15 in conference. This year we are 4-5 in conference with 9 conference games left to go . Thank you for a voice of sanity. If you told me before the season started that we had a shot at 9-9 or even 8-10 in conference, I would have signed on in a heartbeat. T...

ANY university which has had an UNDEFEATED season since Tulane's 1998 season should claim a national championship, period. Hang all the banners that you wish as far as I am concerned. Aggravate the NCAA mercilessly and let them know that the playoff system has not improved anything. There was a tim...

Re: Quick look ahead to 2018

4 wins in 2016, 5 wins in 2017, so 6 wins in 2018 (a natural progression, 4-4 in AAC). Tulane gets to a bowl game, but loses it. Will the TU fans be satisfied with 3 losing Fritz seasons? Hmmm, . . . , one must wonder about that. Do you really extend the contract of a HC who has not had a winning s...

Re: Fritz on verge of extension

Tulane declined a Rose Bowl invite in 1925 in order to keep their student athletes in class. That may have been Tulane's best team ever, as the only blemish was a tie to Missou, and shut outs in 6 of 10 games. They went undefeated again in 1929 and 1931, with a loss to Northwestern in 1930 preventi...

Done deal. Willie and Tulane agree.

Advocate Print edition headline
Any details?
I hope that they did not give him 10-year deal similar to what Benny Ellender got in the 1970's.

After all, Fritz has NOT put a winner on the field yet.

Getting stopped on that last play at SMU reminded me of the 1972 LSU game which ended similar. It motivated the team onto a great 1973 season. Hopefully the same can happen in 2018.

Re: “Battle for the Rag” Once a great rivalry

I only want to see LSU again when we are a winning program and have the talent to pull off an upset or can be competitive. Right now, we need to focus on winning more than 7 games a year , and knowing that teams like FIU will be W's for us . You are absolutely correct . If Tulane can get back to th...

Tulsa 45 - UH 17 .... What? This score slipped by me unnoticed. I suppose that on a given Saturday, anything is possible. I'm old enough to say that I watched perhaps the greatest upset in sports history when the 18 point underdog Jets beat the Baltimore Colts. So why not us and why not now? If we ...
