Re: Ed Daniels

Like he said we lack talent. It was a lazy article on his part though as he totally disregarded NCAA rules. You can't give academic scholarships to baseball players, or any athlete for that matter, that aren't available to all students. We also learned last year that you can't stack need based aid ...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

Well then you changed your mind since yesterday. Glad you've seen the light. Most also agree that we lack talent position player wise especially at catcher and SS. I’ve always said this year we have two starters that can win. Nothing much behind that. Sunday’s are hitters day for most teams. We sho...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

If we see nothing change, there will be big changes forthcoming...as in - more seats, less bodies in the stands. Yep. Baseball is easily the most time consuming sport of all for a season ticket holder. Over 30 home games that last at least 3 hours a game plus travel time. That’s a lot of dedication...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

Next year going to be very similar to this year. Unless a miracle happens I’m expecting a 3rd straight losing season. Agree. I don’t want to lay it all on Jewett as he didn’t inherit a ton of talent but clearly this isn’t working and it’s time for a change. I’m glad I didn’t invest a whole lot of t...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

Maybe I'm just not getting it. We gave up NINE walks in four innings. Aren't you taught from Little League days that if you want to be a pitcher, you have to be able to throw the ball over the plate? Either you can or you can't. If you can't, then how does the pitching coach have anything to do wit...

Re: Ed Daniels

Ed’s story out. Looking for more scholarship money from our administration. https://clarionherald.org/2018/05/23/creative-scholarships-would-help-tulane-baseball/ The baseball solution is simple. Each year, give baseball three to five scholarships that are either academic or need-based. It is how Ri...

Already 4-0 Top1 UH up. Johnson pitching on short rest doesn’t have it.

Re: Fritz Contract extension to 2023

I don't think even Fritz can turn the Kansas football program around, in today's world. That said, Fritz might be a good fit for Kansas, because whoever they hire probably won't ever be a head coach again. In Willie's case, if he can get a fat 5 to 7 year guaranteed contract from Kansas, that might...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

First off you're rarely if ever going to have a staff that can go 7 good innings every game. More importantly those guys were good but it took a bullpen to help get the game to them. One guy never has and never will be able to come in and close out every game. It's too simplistic to think otherwise...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

Timely hitting is not there. But that depends on who’s up in that situation. Heck if you load the bases you’re doing something right. Pitching is easily solved with one good closer. Here’s a few in the past: Brian Gibbs Brandon Belanger Nick Pepitone DJ Ponder Ian Giabut Joey Charron Barth Melius Se...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

We stranded too many runners. The announcers summed it up well. Batting with runners on base, ECU was 5 for 8, Tulane was 2 for 11. Batting with runners in scoring position, ECU was 3 for 6, Tulane was 0-9. And we lose by 1. Spoon and Roper are the only reasons we were in the game. Many of the Tula...

Re: Fritz Contract extension to 2023

I guess Dannen needs a history lesson. Bennie Ellender got a 10 year extension once and was fired two years later. Tulane was on the hook for 8 years. Funny thing was Tulane kept sending him a check for years after he was paid off. No one at Tulane thought to investigate. True story. Only at Tulane...

Has Ray Ona Embo opted out of the draft yet? Anyone know the deadline to do so? No. He’s looking more and more like he’s turning pro. Probably Europe if the NBA doesn’t work out. https://twitter.com/marcjspearsespn/status/999299954672787457 Wow. He’s never going to be drafted even next year. He nee...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

Jewett needs to go out and get a big time closer and give him a full scholarship if necessary.
We are never going anywhere until we can close out games.
