Re: Webster's new definition of loser.......................

People probably wouldn't care that much about the not wearing a tie business if the teams at least were winners. At most schools the athletics directors are usually very much in the background while the coaches, who would tend to be in the spotlight when the teams are having success, are more front ...

Re: 1998 was a fluke!!!!

Bump for Fred who agrees with Cowen. Calling it "fluke-ish" http://gotula.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6695&p=102761#p102761 I say that 1998 happened because there was 1.) a manageable schedule, 2.) a great group of players who also had some talent that Buddy Teevens had been to bring ...

Re: Kushner's Tulane Chat - 11:00 AM

The only chance we get into the NCAA's is to win the AAC tournament the league is a good at best this year. So maybe two bids. Our RPI will likely not be strong enough to crack the top 40-50. ULL won their SBC tournament and that's how they got to the dance the last time. Then winning the league, b...

Re: Buying a Yulman Brick

JDtulane, I think alot of people (myself included) are at the point where if they shut it down so be it. Let them embarrass themselves by building a brand new foitball stadium and then cancel a program. They created this attitude amongst Tulane fans. Oh and Tulane didn't spend a dime on this stadiu...

Re: Big 12 expansion

It's really simple. If Tulane did things right from the start and had success you'd have P5 conferences knocking on its door wanting them instead of the other way around. Actually if Tulane had done things right from the start it would still be in the SEC . +1,000,000 And again, if we had invested ...

Re: Winning programs go to Bowl Games! Why not Tulane?

I wouldn't say "every year" only because it is not all that easy to accomplish this at a school with our academic standards. What academic standards? Tulane isn't even top 50 and we could all list the schools that are better than Tulane and actually manage to field decent football teams. ...

Re: Big 12 expansion

At this point, it's unlikely that the Big 12 would expand. However, if it did decide to expand, it's primary target would be FSU - a team that would make significantly more per year in the Big 12 than it would in the ACC. If FSU left the ACC, it would be highly likely that at least a few more stron...

Re: Buying a Yulman Brick

The program cannot improve without money. Sure, the administration sucks, but NOT donating is going to destroy the program - literally. I understand, but TU administrations have been trying to milk that line for forever as they they've made their continual efforts to separate alumni from their mone...

Re: Big 12 expansion

Given Tulane's track record the past 15 years, I'll eat my hat if Tulane gets a Big 12 invite. It's been a total clown show with Cowen/Dickson. Seriously look at our records over the pat five years, it's laughable that the B12 would throw us $30mm a year so we can rebuild our athletics just so thei...

Re: Kushner's Tulane Chat - 11:00 AM

He seemed to be fairly evasive as regards what would be considered a successful bball season, which would seem to support my perception that there just are not a whole lot of people around TU -- administration, alums, fans, whoever -- who have much to say as regards expectations and goals with regar...

Re: Big 12 expansion

The B12 would have to be incredibly desperate to accept a school with a 23k seat stadium, no matter the market or on field results. They are not going to dilute their payout and throw us a bone so we can play in the Dome for a year and perhaps expand. Even getting to 40k with the footprint of Yulma...

Re: Big 12 expansion

Notice all the facility talk, just saying. These were my highlights. Cons: Cincinnati's stadium has a relatively small capacity, though expansion would bring it up to over 40,000 in 2015. More expansion plans would be needed, otherwise the Bearcats would play more and more at Paul Brown Stadium, ho...

Re: Somebody Likes Us

I believe that we have a number of issues that need to be addressed. We need a new AD, we should be fielding competitive AAC football/basketball teams, and our facilities need upgrading. Most importantly, Tulane needs to improve academically and must re-consider the engineering decision. That being...

Re: Yulman Stadium Review

Solid post jj. While I would not call it a failure, the stadium is still a net negative in my mind as it diverts resources away from other aspects of the program. The on campus tailgating is nice, but does not really advance the program. Very solid point. Really and truly a mouthful there. The coac...

“Football affects admissions, enrollment and donations,” he said. “It’s hard for schools to wrap their arms around things like this because they don’t necessarily see them on the athletic department’s budget sheet. A few years down the road, U.A.B. could wonder why it’s not as attractive to student...

Re: Plans for Future of Tulane Athletics

If you build a baseball stadium before you do anything to address needs with one or other of the two sports that really matter, then that to me is a significant sign of a lack of a true comprehensive plan or a plan that's very backward. Baseball was rolling along and a big item in the early 2000s wh...

Too many bowl games. Way too many. It's hard to understand how they stay in business. And when you have that many then the significance of just making it to a bowl game is of course reduced.

Re: CJ, Staff...on the Hot seat

This is why CJ got a sweetheart extension: CJ and his agent Rocky Arceneaux got everything they wanted from Tulane. This was an article from last year listing CJ as one of the hottest coaches in America. Curtis Johnson, head coach, Tulane; Dan McCarney, head coach, North Texas; David Bailiff, head ...
