Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

The longer losing is tolerated the less desirable this job becomes. If candidates believe that the administration doesn’t care about the success of the baseball program you are not going to attract a decent candidate. Dannen has a serious decision to make regarding the 54 year step backwards we hav...

Re: Basketball Recruiting -- 2017

Crabtree signing with Tulane https://twitter.com/C_crab5/status/984042711819923457?s=09 Pleasantly surprised. The program needed this. Takes us from 11th best class in the AAC to 11th best class in the AAC. Doom and gloom aside, it is a nice win over Memphis and hopefully the kid is as underrated a...

Re: Basketball Recruiting -- 2017

I don’t know what the hell we can do if they even want to do anything. It’s as big a dumpster fire as baseball right now though. Crabtree or not. What can we do... That's the problem with the swing and miss hire of a respected NBA coach... Keep him and continue losing but pump up the promise of bet...

Did UNO really score the winning run in the 9th inning on a wild pitch for the 2nd straight game against us? Unbelievable.

Re: Tulane Athletics

I just looked at the remaining baseball schedule and I realistically see us finishing out the regular season 24-31. Jewett will get a 3rd year but will be forced to replace some guys on his staff (pitching coach) most likely. Unless some of these recruits perform much better year 3 will be no diffe...

Re: Basketball Recruiting -- 2017

It's funny how this recruit from Hargrave Academy, that very few outside of me on this board gave any credit to, is now putting us into a "the sky is falling" mode because he may flip to Memphis. Clearly, Penny Hardaway thinks the kid can play. But more importantly, I think Dannen needs to think lo...

Re: Basketball Recruiting -- 2017

Looks like penny has cherry picked Crabtree to Memphis . We’re down to 1 player in the next class. The name “Moses” better be appropriate. Is there a Jesus out there too? Is this speculation or confirmed flip? His twitter account still shows committed to Tulane. Though articles about his Memphis vi...

Re: Tulane loses the Long Beach State Series

I thought we’d get swept so winning one kept us from going winless for the week. Beat LSU and I’ll be happy again. See how well conditioned we are for LBS. We expect nothing (no way we win any games this series) and when we win one game and we can comfort ourselves and say, we did better than expec...

Re: Grade Troy Dannen on his job to date at Tulane

I think grading TD on his coaching decisions is tough at this point as he's appeared to be doing a lot of things right but they haven't panned out as hoped or expected. If you look at what he's done in the three majors it's hard to find a lot of fault in his logic. But I believe he'll have some toug...

Re: Temple ends Tulane's season 82-77 in the AAC Tourney

Basketball SHOULD NOT take years to rebuild. I cannot argue that the deck is stacked against any coach that comes here, I honestly don't know how much a coach's hands are tied by the administration, etc., but it seems basketball would have the best opportunity to succeed. Maybe no one can turn this ...

Re: Tulane blows the SELA Game 13-12

Seems like Jewett has put together a Little League roster. What's not so funny is I looked at the box score (didn't see the game) this morning and 13 runs (6 unearned) on 8 hits, 9 walks, 2 HBP and thought the same thing. Especially the day after giving up the tying and then winning run on wild pit...

Re: ECU humiliates Tulane 82-80

Have you guys thought about maybe MD is installing a similar strategy as last year? Making the season all about the conference tournament and thus not showing our hand by limiting our play book and making it seem like we can't attack a zone. Not playing any defense so teams just game plan to take it...

Re: Houston Launches the Wave 73-42

I just don't see what some of you see in Dunleavy. I won't argue that he appears to be a good coach capable of improveling players individually, but I don't see any great game plans. We don't play good team defense. We don't play good team offense, especially against a zone. In fact I'd say we've im...

Re: Houston Game 2Thread

Anyone enjoying this game? No energy today. Wave looks tired. Frazier playing hurt. Only guy scoring at that. Getting out rebounded by more than 2 to 1. Misleading stat. We’ve shot terrible so that’s why we’ve been out rebounded so far. They haven’t missed much. Not misleading at all 22-10 overall....

Announcers just said “from the bayou city in Houston.” Bayou City? I believe Space city is official nickname but bayou city is nearly as popular. If you watched any hurricane Harvey coverage you'd probably figure out why the city has that nickname. On the hoops side of this game, no other word need...

Re: Final: UCONN 67, Tulane 57

It gets down to this. When we’re not shooting well we struggle with anyone. (See Nicholls St). Our inside game and penetration besides Frazier is not good enough to win in the AAC if our outside shooting is off. Teams have figured this weakness out and how to exploit it. The solution is to recruit ...
