Re: Troy Dannen

Talk of dropping basketball is ludicrous. We want to win, not quit. I think we need to start including sarcasm tags lol But yeah, we're between a rock and a hard place. We have a CAA level hoops team in a borderline power conference. We're outclassed in hoops at a structural level. This isn't happe...

GL- I get where you’re coming from but remember if we drop basketball we are out of the AAC.
Actually, our value to the conference increases without hoops. It's currently a net negative. Football is turning a corner and is soon going to give us some benefit.

Re: Troy You Must Fire Dunleavy

It’s a shame that Dunleavy is such a narcissist to think he should still be coaching this four win and zero conference win team. If Dunleavy had any integrity, he would have resigned midway through the season and let his top assistant coach Doug Stewart take over the team. If Coach Stewart had done...

Re: Troy You Must Fire Dunleavy

Dannen can’t fire him unless the boosters are willing to pay off his buyout. If the boosters want him gone it will happen. If not, Dannen can’t do anything about it. If you enter next season with Dunleavy, you will not be able to pay people to watch the team. Many alumni will no longer be willing t...

Why are you guys talking about we have no one that can finish. Cornish and Paul are going, graduating. The point guard sets up plays they need a healthy point guard no doubt. Crabtree is getting better driving so is Wood two freshmen, need to add some weight. Daniels is almost there and a point gua...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

Nate Oats won’t be on the market long. He is waiting to get a bigger shot. Any coach who can get kids to leave Georgia, Texas and Florida to build a 92-42 record at Buffalo that includes 3 conference titles, 2 NCAA Tournament appearances in 4 years, (possibly 3 because Buffalo is currently 28-3 wit...

He should wait until after the conference tourney if he wants to do anything.

Re: Temple Game Two Thread

I actually think that we have a decent squad to build off of. I think that Dunleavy has recruited well - but I don't buy into his coaching ability at a program like Tulane.

We need a certain type of coach. I honestly think that a dull, defensive mind would do okay in this league.

Re: Army Invitational Thread

I actually kinda like that I'm upset about a "bad" neutral ground 1 run loss. It means that there's hope in this program.

It's too early to tell if they can maintain the early energy, but the next series against a very game UCSB squad will tell us more.

Re: Troy Dannen

Dannen was in good graces until he defended Dunleavy. That was a massive PR mistake to defend a coach that is obviously failing.

Note how he hasn't won a game since the show of support.

There is a lot to work with in terms of players. A better college coach can win some more games here.

What are the odds that this gets so bad that Dannen actually has to scrap other plans and do something about it? I mentioned that same thought in another thread. This is beyond just losing and a “rebuilding” year. This is a black mark for the university and a major blow to all of athletics. A recen...

Re: Mike Dunleavy the worst of the worst 100% returning

I think it's clear that the AD doesn't want to pay the buyout and will instead use money elsewhere in the program.

It sucks because it means that basketball is basically in 3 year dead period.

Take Houston and lay 20. Take a second mortgage if necessary.
This is a great team to make money with. They haven't shown life in 8 of the last 10 games.

Re: Mike Dunleavy the worst of the worst 100% returning

Dannen just made a bad move in getting behind this guy. He was beginning to be liked at this school, too.

This guy was an AD of the year at Northern Iowa - a good basketball school. I'm amazed that he's standing for this.

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

The PG problem is real, but it is the fault of the HC for not recruiting two Division 1 caliber PGs. The rest of the AAC has AT LEAST two PG options, and this team does not. Dunleavy hung his hat on 2 key players, and with one injured he is now out there looking stupid. I actually hope I'm wrong abo...

Re: President Fitts To The Rescue

It's all an inexact science. If Tulane had beaten the creampuffs and were like 9-12 (1-8 AAC), then Fitts would probably feel no need to shake things up. However, if this team endlessly craters then his hand is forced. This isn't an anonymously bad team. This team is so bad that is makes the school ...

Re: Mike Dunleavy is now worst of the worst

These are not opinions. Records speak for themselves. I would say that when Dunleavy was hired, we expected wins. Wins from the result of splash hire recruiting and experienced coaching. I am not saying 30 wins. I am just saying wins. We haven't seen it yet. Basketball turnarounds occur within 2-3 ...

Re: CFN's Pre Spring AAC Rankings by Division

I like how we are well off the bottom of these. It's really amazing how the team turned a corner. The early season issues seemed to be tied to a combination of qb play and weird offensive playcalling. Both of those change in 2019.

8-4 isn't a crazy prediction.

I feel like the program is a corpse at this point. They will struggle to sell any tickets next season.

People aren't even mad. I think we've all just given up.
