Re: Rusty Staub dies

Met him at his restaurant in NYC years ago. He came out of the kitchen in his apron, we chatted about baseball and the culinary arts. A nice man who took a few minutes for us in the middle of a busy night.

Re: Temple ends Tulane's season 82-77 in the AAC Tourney

The American is a tough conference and will send 3 teams to the NCAAs without UConn or Memphis doing anything.

Re: Matt Forte

There is discussion as to whether Forte is HOF material. Likely not, but he was a solid citizen and seldom-seen weapon on offense whose best years were wasted-- as at Tulane -- in Chicago: Five 1,000-yard rushing seasons. 14,468 combined yards from scrimmage top in the NFL over his 10-year career. 1...

This is a federal probe. People will go to prison. The NCAA's Emmert will resign, as will some of the best-known coaches, if they aren't indicted first.

Too bad he didn't coach in a revenue sport. Or crash his motorcycle while giving his mistress a lift. He'd be hired back eventually.

I guess someone didn't like my post saying thanks to Dannen for being a pro and not caving to locals on the baseball hire. ASnd what of the posters here who vowed never to give another dime to dear old Tulane because it didn't hire Andy? Crickets.

Re: The Passing of a TU Fan

Worth passing on to Tulane fans, Frank Basile from Houma, a lifelong Tulane backer, passed away yesterday. Frank owned Modern Marine Power in Houma and was very good to the Tulane Athletic Department over the years while being a true, ardent fan. He was very tight at one time with the great Ralph P...

C'mon, man! We all want Lindsey Scott to enroll at Tulane. By the number of posts on both Tulane boards, it is obvious that we are eternally obsessed with the idea. Nothing could be more exciting for anyone who has emotional equity in Tulane than the idea of young Scott enrolling in our school. Tod...

The gap between the AAC and Pac 12 isn't all that large. The gap between the AAC and the rest of the G5 is huge.

Re: Football Recruiting 2018

Its become pretty obvious in the past two recruiting seasons just how much Fritz (and Tulane) value grades. Not sure if its Tulane forcing it on Fritz, or Fritz knowing it takes those kinds of kids to handle the school part of Tulane, but there have been more players we've seen with offers from Ivy...

Re: Coaching Changes

I remain a fan of Chris Scelfo and am surprised he has not had better opportunities. I still like Chris Scelfo and I hate the bashing he gets on this site but you just can't punt on third down. The third down punt will haunt him, though he's not the first coach to do so (nor will he be the last!) I...

Ole Miss is a fantastic coaching opportunity for a young guy -- zero expectations in a killer conference, playing with house money (excuse the pun) to get back on track, whatever is accomplished is lagniappe for a jump to the next job.
