Re: What We Should Be Looking For
Mark Richt - maybe we should hire him for both! AD & Head Football Coach. Family is close enough to Atlanta to split time between here and there. If not him someone like Bob Davie may be a possibility. The advantage would be they can get things done and not hear empty promises! That is how we ge...

Georgia let him go, we need to do what it takes to get him. Good fit, geographically from where he is now, and already recruits nationally. Some of that recruiting class will follow him. Very dynamic, approachable, calm, but tough. He would be a true "splash hire" would make national news.

Re: Potential head football coach candidates search
Davie would be a very good hire. Changed the offense there that would accommodate the quality of athletes they were able to bring in. Tulane would actually give him the ability to attract better athletes, and the fact that he HC'd a major private university is huge (notre dame).

Re: My Case for Firing CJ Saturday
Houston got their Coach for an amount of money that we could pay. It doesn't take 6 years to build a winning program and I'm sorry, but he's not getting the job done. The team is worse now than it was his 1st season. His recruiting has been overrated from Day 1, he can't figure out how to recruit t...

And hire who? With what? 50+ years ago someone decided to not have an emphasis on athletics, leave the SEC. Actually go independent for a short time. Reality is, we have no facilities, stadium, weight room or anything to recruit top athletes. When we hired CJ we had nothing at all regarding talent ...

Re: Struggles continue for Tulane kickers
Specialist are not easy positions to recruit, and Cairo was an NFL quality kicker his last 2 years at least. Long field goals are not common at the college level. Cairo was rare and we may not see another like him for years. I agree, scratch the long attempts, and play for field position.

Our OOC games should be with schools like us, Duke, Wake, Vanderbilt, Rice, Northwestern, etc. (like us meaning - private or high academics).

Re: Spring Game report
It was a beautiful day for football. Around 60 degrees w/a slight wind from the north. I got there around 9:30 and the kickers were working. They were using a ball holder and just picking their spots. Simms as has been reported was kicking all over though not as wildly as inaccurate as in his past....

Re: Open Scholarships
Good to see the kicking part of our game addressed, but there is still a missing part. We now need someone who can snap the ball to the p/k holder or punter, as the case may be, on a consistent basis. Our current scholarship L/S is a big part of the problem and leaves a lot to be desired. The Potom...

Re: Punter Prospect - Zach Block
Very good news. Wonder if we are doing anything as far as long snapping. This makes 4 specialist on scholarship in the fall, we will not be adding anymore. The starter did finish the season consistant after he came back from the injury. The back up snapped - duke, rutgers, uconn, 1st quarter UCF. B...

With the amount of revenue we would receive, maybe we should buy our way in, if necessary. The long term benefits and exposure would be worth the risk.

Sean Wilson started again, as we all know true freshman. May have the biggest upside of this class, definitely the most overlooked. He should be on a lot of "all freshman teams" at the end of season.

Re: UCF 20 - Tulane 13
We lost the GaTech, UCF, and Rutgers games because of bad QB play, we lost Tulsa because of special teams, and we lost Duke because of QB/ST/D. That being said, we seem to be improving overall, and I think we should get another couple of wins. Is it ideal? No, but our QBs aren't that great, and unl...

what a massive fan base - 36 votes total. that is what is really pathetic. that is the most embarrassing statistic related to tulane athletics, we have a long way to go, real long way. apathy is contagious.winwave wrote:Bumped for reality check for those who keep saying that all here want CJ fired ASAP.
