Re: Big Ten discussing Nebraska expulsion over lost AAU accreditation
Nebraska is #15 in viewership for a reason. It's true that they played both Michigan and Colorado (top 5 viewed programs in the regular season), however, the rest of the schedule wasn't strong enough to point to in order to justify their rank. Looking at their schedule, they played 3 top 25 viewed p...

Re: Big Ten discussing Nebraska expulsion over lost AAU accreditation
Love to see this happen just because of Dannen. How does a school lose its AAU accreditation? If the college is unable to bring the institution up to standards, it will lose its accreditation. A school may fail an accreditation evaluation due to low graduation rates, low pass rates for licensure ex...

Nebraska was the #15 most watched football program during the regular season last season. They aren't going anywhere.

Re: Inside the new CFB Super League of 70 teams.
As we all know, the Dallas metro is the wildcard for the super league in that it would be surprising if the highest level/division of college football didn’t include a team from there. The issue is that neither TCU nor SMU are natural fits for the SEC or B1G, and that creates uncertainty about which...

Re: 2024 US News & World Rankings (tie) #73 Tulane University
As others have noted, the reason for the rankings fall were changes to the methodology. Many of us here knew that that was coming based on how Tulane games the rankings - it made Tulane susceptible to changes to certain student quality related variables - test scores, gpa and student family income i...

Did Kelly really say that? Here is an article on what Kelly said about athletics and academics at LSU for his ESPN interview and the controversy his statements generated: https://lailluminator.com/2023/09/06/kelly-lsu/ I have never seen that article but it is definitely saying what we all know, out...

LSU WBB wins National Championship, loses $7.8 million in 2022-23. https://themessenger.com/sports/kim-mulkey-lsu-womens-basketball-7-8-million-deficit-in-championship-season 🤔 Is WBB really worth this much cost even to an academic nobody like LSU? I think not. A university can do a lot of other th...

Re: Saban retires. Hates NIL
Whoever they hire is going to have a tough go of it. I don’t know much about Karen DeBoer, but I know his team was the best team, easily, in what most considered no worse than the 3rd strongest conference this year. Golfnut, I’d be interested to hear the why behind your dislike of his selection. I’...

Re: Letter to the Editor calling for fan support
He always wanted a P job. Wouldn't have mattered if it was built or not. He was a goner the moment a P offered. This. Fritz was leaving for a better job eventually unless he either passed away or had a major scandal. Generally speaking, that statement is true for any coach that Tulane hires unless ...

Re: Mike Aresco is retiring
Memphis, Tulane, USF and maybe Rice are all that is left that has any value and I think Aresco probably sees that eventually happening. UTSA is quickly becoming the next UCF. FAU could quickly become the next Houston. Not all is doom and gloom. We've watered down the conference for sure. But some o...

But we just went 23-4 with our current facilities over the past two years. Exactly the thinking that resulted in Fritz at UH. Exactly. The last two years should encourage us to go even bigger. With the expanded playoffs we need to have our eyes on something much bigger than winning the Cotton. Let’...

Re: Tulane..this is squarely on you shoulders
G5 teams lose coaches all of the time, so, regardless of how anyone feels about it, someone was going to money whip Fritz out of Tulane eventually if he did well enough and no facility improvement would prevent that from occurring.

Re: Willie Fritz Coaching Watch
If Tulane lets Willie get away to Houston I have zero confidence in them hiring his replacement. If there were betting odds, Fritz would 100% be the favorite for the Houston job given the pending AAC championship game and the lack of an announcement surrounding Traylor. Hopefully, the new AD has so...

That plus the quality of UT's loss relative to the quality of OU's loss. It makes sense, and, either way, it will be resolved on the field.

The rules are achieving the desired result - viewership - and that’s the only thing that matters to ownership. People can criticize it if they want, but those in power don’t care.
