Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

So...the AAC cannot hold a conference title game unless it adds a team, kicks a team out, or gets the NCAA to change the rules since a conference with less than 12 teams can only hold a title game if it plays a round robin.

This should be interesting.

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

But there is a program (with a coaching staff turnover in 2020) that will be the next Boise State and if admitted to the AAC, a perennial threat to both in-state p5 rivals. They are also a natural tie-in to the AAC East. It's the elephant in the room flipping, wake up. Who? ODU Larger media market ...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

The rumblings are that the AAC will stay at 11 since it probably won't be able to get a program like Boise State. As for BYU, it seems to generally set its bowl tie in at the beginning of the season. It agrees that if it wins at least 6 games, it will go to that bowl, however, if BYU gets a CFP invi...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

Tulane has certain value beyond its on the field performance - Louisiana recruiting, New Orleans media market access [not control], academic relevance, etc. - but, in regard to on the field performance, the football programs appears to be stabilizing. Those beyond the field value should be really w...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

If the AAC was truly serious about being a national power, it would kick out Navy, ECU, and Tulsa, and bring on San Diego State, Boise State, BYU, and (most likely) Colorado State (to get to 12 total football programs), as doing so would solidify the conference as a major alternative to the P5. You...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

Big 12 moved its hq from Kansas city to DFW and lost 3 key members because of it. Missouri, Nebraska, and Colorado. They then moved the Championship football game from KC to DFW which was icing on the cake. Big 12 sided with the TX schools and crapped on the big 12 north and lost half of the North ...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

To be fair, UConn was a relatively massive brand that the AAC simply cannot replace. The only programs in the landscape that are even remotely close are Boise State and BYU, and it seems unlikely that those programs would join the AAC at this time. The loss of UConn makes football stronger, but it d...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

Re: Jonathan "Adam" Chaney - 3* ILB Commits

Look at the other schools he had on his list. Obviously academics means something to him, with Ole Miss, Duke and Vandy. Guess that's why he chose us over the football factory upriver. Ole miss ranks below LSU in academics according to US News (154 vs 140). I only point this out because I continual...

Re: 2019 Tulane Football Regular Season Win Prediction

Beating Houston or Memphis would be an upset. Beating Army will be an upset. Beating Auburn would be a HUGE upset. Tulane Football has accomplished nothing to make us look down our noses at any opponent on our schedule. Sorry, but we'll agree to disagree here. I agree with this. Doing well in the w...

Re: 2019 Tulane Football Regular Season Win Prediction

6 regular season wins with a possible bowl win depending on the opponent. I reserve the ability to revisit this after the FIU game, as that game should serve as a barometer for what to expect.

Re: Tulane/LSU FB Camp 2019

I don’t like the idea of camping with LSU, but I have to trust Fritz’ judgement on whether it’s a net plus or minus for Tulane. I think this is the third such camp, and we have to admit that the two previous recruiting classes were quite good. 2018 was a very strong class, 2019 not far behind the 2...

Re: The PAC 12 needs your donation

Even though it is true that the state of Louisiana doesn't care about education (or healthcare), Bobby Jindal destroyed the state of Louisiana and LSU, and it honestly seems unlikely that either will ever truly recover.

Re: The PAC 12 needs your donation

The problem with the PAC 12 is its western geographic location, isolated from most of the U.S. viewing audience. There are a lot of people on the west coast, but I don't think they watch the tube that much (too many other things to do). On top of that, the PAC 12's isolation doesn't give them a lot...

Re: The PAC 12 needs your donation

The PAC 12 can survive as long as it is the exclusive west coast P5 conference, but it try to merge with the Big 12 again in order to remain relevant. The PAC 12 will never merge with the exisiting Big 12 ...they want nothing to do with TCU, Baylor, Kansas State, Iowa State ...Kansas only makes the...

https://wgno.com/2019/05/26/tulane-and-lsu-host-joint-football-camp/ If Lousiana is so loaded with talent, why is 50 percent of LSU's roster, the Flagship U of the state, made up of kids not from Louisiana ? ESPN was going to lose subscribers anyway, and I am personally of the opinion that trying to target politics in an effort to stem the tide really will not make much of a difference.

The ship has pretty much sailed on traditional tv packages.

Re: The Academic, or lack of, progress numbers

Very understandable that our "trend" could be downward--much more challenging to stay in school at Tulane. That, combined with our hopeful improvement on the field, will likely lower our APR trend. Of course the APR is as relevant as ranking each school's engineering, poli sci, or anthropology majo...
