Re: 2019 FB Schedule

Weird i didnt think this topic was “which schedule was harder and whose d**k smaller 1998 vs 2013/2014” Well, the topics generally end up at a point where someone says (paraphrasing), “The 2013 schedule was soooo easy, and Tulane clearly underperformed”. Then I say, “Sure, but’s let’s not pretend l...

Re: 2019 FB Schedule

We continue to disagree. That 7-6 didn't give any great inspiration based off of the schedule it was done against and especially with the loss to ULL in the Bowl game. I have been following the program for six decades and know a multitude of season ticket holdrs. No one was buying season tickets be...

Re: 2019 FB Schedule

I don’t really understand playing the body bag games moving forward. If it was LSU sure. I don’t see ole miss or miss state as body bag games, and I am a fan. But playing top 10 teams on the road for the pay day isn’t something we need to do anymore (for a variety of reasons but mostly our new TV c...

Re: Tulane Upset over Auburn ?

The talk about losing WF to a P5 is just as, if not more premature than the talk about upsetting Auburn. Last year we had some of this discussion before the season then had many of the same posters calling for his job when we started 2-5! ....and Tulane's 2019 schedule starts off pretty difficult b...

Re: Tulane Upset over Auburn ?

Bill connelly has said he expects Tulane to be better then his algorithm predicts, and that the transfers amongst other factors arent actually taken into account. Athlon (my personal favorite) has us ranked reasonably. Auburn’s QB’s are good- No doubt. Auburn also perpetually has insane recruiting ...

Re: Tulane Upset over Auburn ?

Tulane has virtually no chance against Auburn, and that’s fine as the same could be said about the vast majority of other FBS teams. Tulane needs to focus on having a winning record versus of FIU, Army, Houston, Memphis and USF, and, if it achieves that, the rest will sort it out. I think you meant...

Re: Bill Connelly in depth look at 2019 Tulane football by the numbers

Interesting that he has us ranked 7th but we were 2-2 against the six teams above us. Well, Tulane lost to SMU but is rated above it and Tulane needed heroics to beat Navy and is above them too. Not counting transfers - which would benefit both Tulane and some teams on its' schedule - Bill Connelly...

Re: Tulane Upset over Auburn ?

Although Auburn is not Okalahoma or OSU, winning this game would be as close to a signature win as we've had in over a decade. That would do wonders for recruiting and for reinvigorating the New Orleans fanbase. It might also stimulate outside interest in Willie Fritz's resume. I bit the bullet thi...

Re: Bill Connelly in depth look at 2019 Tulane football by the numbers

Bill released the AAC power rankings today and Tulane is #7 overall, and, fortunately, it only faces 4 teams in conference that were power rated higher than it was (although Tulane would be an underdog versus Auburn, Army, and FIU). https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2019/4/15/18307596/aac-fo...

Re: Tulane Upset over Auburn ?

WE tried against OU 2 years ago, and gave them a game for 3/4. Against Ohio State, we went through the motions - just didn't want to get anyone hurt. I suspect we'll try against Auburn. The score was 28-14 at the half with OU winning and Tulane didn’t score after the first quarter, so, to be fair, ...

Re: Tulane Upset over Auburn ?

Georgia Southern won 10 games last year and should improve on the field this year. I think ahtlon has them rated higher currently then us. So yes it would be an upset, but Georgia southern is a solid team and will compete for the sun belt. They would be about the same level of upset, given that LSU...

Re: AAC / SEC MBB Challenge Announced

Too bad its only the SEC teams that didn't play in the Big 12/SEC challenge and not the entire SEC. That means that only 4 SEC and 4 "select" AAC teams will benefit from the arrangement, and one can image which AAC teams would get selected (some combination of Cincinnati/Houston/UCF/Temple/etc.). ht...

Re: From the "You can't make this up" Scott Cowen files

You can certainly select the schools that back your argument. Why does Washington University of St Louis make your list? It's not in the South. How about comparing NATIONAL Universities, Stanford, Notre Dame, Rice, Duke, Vandy, etc. You can take a few of your "comps" out and add a few that I think ...

Re: From the "You can't make this up" Scott Cowen files

Cowen played a major role in not growing the endowment. He totally mismanaged the medical school, which was perhaps the biggest drain on the endowment. He also missed out big time on STEM investment, whose grads, companies and families are also a great source of growth. Community involvement is gre...

Re: From the "You can't make this up" Scott Cowen files

Our peers grew their endowments at multiples of the growth rate of the endowment under SC over the same time frame. But that's not true, as Tulane's growth was in line with the other high profile southern private schools (Emory, WashU, Vanderbilt, Rice and Duke). From an ancient thread: Looking at ...

Re: From the "You can't make this up" Scott Cowen files

Mr. Blowhard surfaces again. He keeps making speeches and writing op-eds as though anyone would pay any attention to him. It’s not surprising that he would want to end the USN&WR rankings, since we fell so far in those rankings during his tenure at Tulane—heaven forbid any measures or accountabilit...

Re: New QB Commit Josh Coltrin

His situation of having few offers seems to a result of the fact that once the best QBs have been recognized by the mainstream recruiting services, many of the remaining QBs that are not rated as highly do not receive as much attention. Well, that, and pro-style QBs seem to be get less attention tha...

Re: Why can’t a men’s bball coach succeed at Tulane ?

The rankings mean a lot less than the average "score" of the players. More players = higher ranking. Based upon the score of the classes, the last three were higher than any of CJ's. Re: Why can’t a men’s bball coach succeed at Tulane ?

Fritz's last class rated out at .8172. That's the second best class we've had in the last 20 yrs, and a full point and a half better than CJs best class (.8008). Now sure how that's a "bad" class. Overall, Fritz's 4 classes AVERAGE .8062, better than ANY of CJ's classes. CJ's average was .7984. Tha...
