Re: Jake Rogers

I guess it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. He didn’t hit much at Tulane outside of his JR season and even then he wasn’t great.
Getting traded to the Tigers probably wasn’t good for him. Astros are so much better at developing their guys.

Re: 2018 MLB Draft

Kody Hoese just drafted 35nd round KC I thought you had to be 3 years removed from your HS graduating class if you didn't go pro after HS? Isn't Hoese going to be a true Junior? I really don't know the rules any more. 21 years old. LSU’s Zack Hess is also a true sophomore who was drafted this year

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Just think about the current NBA players that went to small schools that never really had an NBA star before. Have any of those schools really benefited from having one good player in the NBA?

Re: 2018 MLB Draft

My bad, Show Me, I thought he was a HS kid based upon the comment "he'd be better off coming to Tulane to improve his draft status". He is 21 years old, and was picked in the 32nd round by Milwaukee 3 years ago. So he improved by 26 rounds by spending a year at Nebraska and then going to JUCO. LOL,...

Re: 2018 MLB Draft

Hard to tell a 17 or 18 year old that $264K is "not a lot of money". Then turn around and ask him to spend about that much (less financial aid and/or scholarship money) to enroll at Tulane. Except he’s closer to 21 otherwise he wouldn’t be draft eligible unless in HS. To be draft eligible must eith...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Everyone recognizes his ability on the defensive end of the court. The reason people talk about his offense is because the bloggers are saying he's a 3 and D player and that that combo is making him rise up boards. Most disagree with that. My response on page 3 . Fact is now that the scouts are inv...

Re: Cade Beloso

He grew up in Chalmette, but his family moved to Texas after Hurricane Katrina. Beloso was 4-0 on the mound. Ahh. Their is our answer.....i was wondering why we would sink this money into a 1B/DH and our answer was because he was going to pitch and be a 2 way guy. Well he won't pitch at LSU despite...

Re: 31 losses (33 when TU gets eliminated)

I would doubt that the current players would be back channeling him.Probably glad he's gone along with the others. Spoon has been clear all year that the current team is really together. New coaches have new ways of doing things. Last years seniors screwed themselves and their teammates by not adju...

Right, if it were just as easy as saying “let’s give our players some academic scholarships” I would think they would do that, but I’m pretty sure they can’t do that.

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

I never said that they didn’t get better. Johnson obviously did. What part of my take on Roper do most disagree with? All I said was that he was hit or miss. I’m not saying he was bad, I’m just saying that my expectations when we signed a San Jac ace were higher. He was fine but not a stud which is ...

Re: AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

I never said he nailed it. I think most would disagree about Roper. Days like today help raise your ERA even though you pitched a damn good game. That goes to what I've been saying about us not having a pen. Like I said above we need more arms. We also need better position players. The problem is t...

The bottom line is we have a shitty coaching staff. Period end of story. Wrong. We ned players along with better coaching. No you are wrong!!! You're not the Dali lama of baseball. I've sh*t more baseball than you have ever known. If he was such a hot shot recruiter we would have better players. Th...

Who said no compensation. Of course you pay them.
I have no idea why a guys contract would say that he can’t train in the off-season but Find guys without a contract if necessary . You’re not very smart.

And while you guys bitch and moan, Spoon has hit two 2-run homers and we lead ECU 4-1 in the bottom of the 7th. A win here and they move to the semis.

Yeah sure Kershaw was willing to come in for us.
Guys that are borderline minor league pitchers are better than most of the guys that were on our staff last year and better than most college pitchers. You’re retarded if you don’t realize that.

Re: AAC Tourney

As it’s been said numerous times, he could have brought in out of work pitchers and catchers to practice with us. That’s what a good coach would have done. BS. It was mentioned once by a former player at a small NE schoo after the issue had been discussed for a year. A bunch of rag arms wouldn't ha...

It wouldn’t be 26th but depending on who those wins were over we could be in the 40’s-50’s still playing for a potential at-large bid right now.

What was Ed’s take on last year? Am I remembering correctly that he basically gave Jewett a pass?

Not even close. They were everyday payers at critical positions. The eye test has worked for a long time. Pitcher is the most critical position on the field. Emerson Gibbs pitched nearly 20% of all the innings pitched for Tulane in 2016. Corey Kluber was the second most valuable player in the MLB l...

Re: David Pierce

The 2017 team was a VETERAN, UPPERCLASSMAN DOMINATED team that had been to the NCAA tournament two years in a row. To suggest it was a lousy team that lacked talent belies the facts that you went to the games the two years prior and all of 2017. This coaching staff managed to get about as little ou...
