Re: 1998 National Champs!

What's wrong with spreading the love? My friend & high school teammate signed a LOI with Jackie Sherrill & Pitt. The weekend before the signing day he was flown to Dallas on a private jet with Ron Meyer, the Mayor of Dallas and a handful of current and former Cowboys. My friend discreetly s...

Re: 1998 National Champs!

Who do you consider our peer schools? My guess is, there isn't another school in the AAC other than UCF that's had a football NC, ever. So they're not really in a position to laugh, are they? Maybe Navy has. I think SMU went undefeated, but they were on "probation'... They list as having 3 nat...

All but two of the plays on John Rhys Plumlee's highlight reel were outside zone reads. He looks like an outstanding passer who can run when needed. Isn't Oak Grove the school where Brett Favre volunteers?

Re: Big XII Expansion

The gap between the AAC and Pac 12 isn't all that large. The gap between the AAC and the rest of the G5 is huge. You get the big money when people care about watching your games on TV. On a typical football Saturday there are between 4 and 8 games to choose from in most homes. Why would someone wan...

Re: Lindsey Scott commits to LSU now transferring to EMCC

If Scott comes to Tulane I'd Be surprised if he didn't take the starting job from Banks when it's all said and done. Maybe not by opening week but at some point in the season If he's better, and knows the offense as well as Banks does at the time, then it's a good problem to have. But Banks got a l...

The scrotum rash from fifteen years of cowdick fungus wasn’t going to be cured in one year. But it’s clear that the aura in tulane Athletics is better. We aren’t perfect but we are better off than a windbag telling us how to have excellence in athletics without spending a nickel. Can't tell you how...

Extend increase/extend Coach Fritz & Staff contracts *before* the 2018 season. Pledge $ for critical facilities upgrades now (no olympic sports upgrades for now).

If Troy Dannen starts interviewing with other schools it's time to worry. Willie Fritz is a very good head football coach who can, I think, be too loyal to his staff.

Re: Coaching Changes

LSU would love it for Les to get the Tennessee job. They’d be off the hook for close to $8 milllion of his buyout. So whatever Tennessee pays Les, LSU will deduct from their payment to him. That is one hell of a good way for Les Miles to attract a quality staff. Allocate several hundred thousand to...

Mixed feelings here. Losing 8 heavy contributors on D is a lot for one year but it's not like we're turning over a killer D. In fact they were terrible statistically. Rankings (out of 129) Total Defense - 100, 436 ypg Yards Per Play - 123, 6.68 ypp Scoring Defense - 85, 29.2 ppg Those stats with th...

Re: Post season analysis

There's also a factor of which positions have the most positive/negative impact on the play of other positions. This season we barely scraped by defensively with a patchwork scheme. I am sure that Coach Speer & the staff will do an excellent job of preparing our 17 year old & 18-year-old rec...

Let Ruse go to Statesboro. We will pickup Debesse as OC and a co-dc in Lionel Washington. We need to hire the D-line coach from University of Rhode Island, Joe Coniglio ASAP!

Willie Langham, Donnie Lewis JR., Jaylon Monroe, Stephon Lofton & Thakarius Keyes will be returning at CB next year. As yet, we do not have a cornerback in 2018 recruiting class. We have a total of 8 (scholarship) free & strong safeties returning. Who from this group can credibly show and ex...

Re: Post season analysis

There's nothing wrong with matador blocking in a zone scheme, that's kinda the point. The O-line needs to have enough athleticism to stay in phase with a gapping DT & LB or else it all goes to hell (à la Tanzel & Nico)

Re: Post season analysis

Saturday's game made me want to throw up, but hey it sure was wildly entertaining, wasn't it? We're going to witness many more high scoring shootouts as our offense improves and our defense shows to be helpless at CB & DT. We need a staff member who can recruit the river parishes asap. What's L...
